WHY IS IT?
Why is it that children can't seem to play without screaming at each other? I swear the pitch of their voices must be splitting the sound barrier.
I live in a senior retirement facility, there are no playground toys for them to climb on or fall from. The courtyard has no grass, just cement. No trees to climb, not much of anything for children who visit.
But the problem is they still find reasons to scream and split my eardrums down the middle. The parents or grandparents say nothing. Teaching children any kind of consideration for where they are playing and the people who reside there seems to be a thing of the past.
Not all seniors think this behavior is cute and adorable. Some seniors prefer a quiet, peaceful, and respectful atmosphere.
Whatever happened to sitting and reading? Or playing games that don't require screaming at each other? What about a jump rope? Drawing pictures or coloring books?
I know if I had behaved that way when we visited my grandmother I would be in big trouble and made to apologize immediately. On top of it I would feel bad for acting the way I did. And for upsetting others with my poor behavior.
Screaming, squealing, and a lot of high pitched noise is better kept for release in large open areas like a playground or in the country, or out in a pasture, or a desert somewhere.
Children without discipline, without learning how to behave with respect for their surroundings, who are left alone to run amuck. These children have no idea how or why they should do anything different. These children quite possibly have parents who think it's up to the teachers to do their jobs parenting. Or go beyond school and these children are teenagers with no discipline. No sense of right or wrong. And now it's the judicial system that has the job that the parents neglected to do when the children were young and easily shown the better way to behave and why. Teach them young and you will have responsible adults. At least they have a better shot at it and less of a chance of being behind bars someday.
The world is overcrowded. There is road rage on the highways. People killing each other over drugs, petty crimes, no conscience. It wouldn't be as bad if we were taught at an early age to be responsible for our own mistakes. If you commit a crime, you should do the time. Earn a living, don't expect everything will be given to you. And parents, stop spoiling your children. Spend time talking to them and listening to them. Hear what they say. This is your chance to do it right.
