MY MIND AND MY BODY ARE NEVER IN AGREEMENT!!!
Don't you just hate it when the line begins “as I age, or as the years slip by”? Or anything equivalent?! I know it's happening. I don't need a reminder. That comes automatically each time I try to do something that my mind says sure, go for it. But my body says where did I leave the aspirin bottle?
As I sit in my recliner pondering what I should do with my day. Or what do I “feel” like doing with my day? The longer I sit, the more I can talk myself out of doing anything productive. And let's face it, getting up out of that chair is productive. Anything I do is going to be work. What used to be automatic, done with little or no effort, I just did it. Now, it takes thought and planning.
I think about how much I need to plan, what type of plan, fun stuff, or necessary stuff? The trip to the bathroom is necessary, but still requires a plan. How necessary is the trip? Or can I put it off. Let me guess the answer to that one.
If caught off guard I might put my thoughts into doing and not planning. I have found by past attempts that this is not often accomplished. At 80 years old, handicapped, living alone, still having most of my mind, I know I must plan before doing. One little slip or fall and I am a goner.
My plan can be a basic one. Bathroom, breakfast, back to the recliner. Or it might be more complicated. Bathroom, shower, what to wear, coffee, glue my teeth in, fix my hair, and there goes most of the morning. None of this takes the same amount of time that it used to. Now it does take a whopping big whole lot of more time. And effort. All of that must go into the planning of the plan.
