Some might argue that there is no process. Some might take a stand and say one is superior over the other. Some might ask why I would open a can of worms such as men vs women ANYTHING?
I am pretty sure there are many with minds and wisdom and education and experience who could challenge every thought, every notion I use to arrive at the brilliant conclusion that men and women do not think the same.
That's okay. This is not a popularity contest. No one is perfect. No one, no matter how smart they think they are, will have the right answer to the scenario I choose, the picture I paint, the idea currently forming in my head. And that is simply because there is NO RIGHT ANSWER. Gotta love that! We can and do and will think what we think. Because we can.
To the can of worms I am adding understanding. Do men and women understand each other? Sometimes. Of the times, on either side, how many think they do, and in reality, they are guessing? Making a stab in the dark and hoping they come close or at least in the ball park of understanding.
If you think you understand, but aren't sure, and it turns out you got lucky this time. Well good. However, if you guessed wrong and now you are out there in space and the person of the opposite sex is looking at you like there is something wrong with your brain. And why didn't you get it? Are you being stupid or trying to hurt my feelings? And so it goes evolving into a big misunderstanding. Adding weight and past indiscretions and accusations.
Of course, I am exaggerating. Or I hope that I am. But when you think about it, even if you have been with this person you are speaking to for a long time and know each other very well. Even if you grew up with similar backgrounds and lived with parents who taught you how to respect others and treat them as you would want to be treated. And even if you have lots of things in common, similar values, wants and needs. I still think men and women think differently. And if they think differently, then wouldn't they arrive at different conclusions? Wouldn't men approach the subject from a perspective known mostly to men? And wouldn't women see it from a female perspective? Neither one are necessarily wrong. They approach things differently. Men are the problem solvers. The hunter/gatherers. Women are the homemakers, holding it all together. And before you jump in my stuff about putting labels on things, keep in mind this is only for illustration.
In this one example of men and women thinking differently. And for the sake of this case, I have no example, but you, the reader may want to inject your own subject and put it to the test with your person. For me, I am taking the easy route because my mind is blank and I am keeping it in general and vague.
The bottom line remains. We do think differently. We approach things differently. We have little pearls of wisdom that come into memory and are put into play.
Given all of that. In the vast world we live in, with the ways the brain takes on knowledge and understanding of the planet we call home. And because we are all individuals. We think and act the way we do based on experiences, environment, climate, and more conditions than I care to name. I think it is close to a miracle that we understand each other at all!
Let's enjoy that part, shall we?
Maybe learn to listen more than we do. Talk less and listen more? What a concept!
