Sometimes, being successful becomes so important that it becomes your entire identity.
you start getting judged, seek approval and crave for validation.
Ishaan, being the emotional of the lot gets very much affected with others will think, how he will be perceived and will he be judged if he doesn't reach a certain level.
And guess what? "OTHERS" were not outsiders but his own family. The great corporate job of his brothers and sisters was the talk of the family. Forget if they care about the parents, are good with them, be there for them. Just supporting monetarily is all their contribution. But of course, they are the stars of the family.
The seeds of injustice were being sown since childhood only.
Marks, recognition in school. Appreciation by teachers, favoritism by classmates who doesn't like.
The society we lived in 90s actually thrived on the big M (Marks) and later on (Money).
So, Ishaan being the pure soul tried very hard to prove himself, to be loved but was defeated by the most feared "M". Every semester he wished he earn it but no one tried to see where the lack was. Just one thing " Judgement", "Nonacceptance" and not approval.
And the basis was " M"(Marks).
I really wish if someone would have held his hand and tried solving the mystery behind the big "F"(Failure)
After many years, he understood the reason which was pretty simply. Can you guess it? It was the lost interest that came from constant discouragement and comparison.
Today it's a blessing that kids are not judged from "M"(MARKS) But rather counselled too much so no effect it has after Exams.
But for Ishaan, boat was already sailed. His time was over. And still he was alone to bear the rotten fruit of his childhood. For years, he struggled, fought, tried justifying
