“Just 50 Cedis—and a Week Away from Payday”

With just 50 cedis to his name and a week away from payday, he gave it to a student who reminded him of his daughters—she took it, blessed him, and left. Moments later, he received an unexpected 3,000 cedis, a powerful reminder that giving from the heart invites divine provision.

It was one of those weeks - when everything feels stretched thin and you're counting coins instead of blessings. I was a week away from payday, and all I had left was 50 cedis. No backup, no stash tucked away - just that note and my quiet faith.

That afternoon, I sat reflecting, wondering how I would navigate the days ahead. Then I heard a soft knock on the door.

A student stepped in. And I fell in love with her immediately.

Not romantically - but deeply and instinctively. She reminded me of my daughters. Her presence stirred something paternal in me. She had that quiet strength, that inner resilience you don't often see in young people. I could tell she was trying, fighting her own battles, but still smiling.

We spoke - about life, school, how she was managing. Her answers were simple, but behind each word was a story I could feel more than hear. She was holding it all together, with dignity and grace.

As she was about to leave, I felt a strong urge - one of those nudges you can't ignore. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the last thing I had: my 50 cedis.

She was reluctant to take it. You could see the pride in her eyes, the hesitation in her hands. But I gently insisted. "Take it," I said. "It's okay."

She accepted it, quietly. And then something incredible happened.

She blessed me after taking it.

Not with money or gifts, but with words. With tears in her eyes, she spoke a blessing over my life that I will never forget. She prayed for me. She thanked me. She asked God to provide for me beyond measure. And then she left.

I sat in silence, heart full - but wallet empty.

Minutes later, I picked up my phone.

An alert.

My brother had sent me 3,000 cedis - completely unprompted, completely unexpected. I had not asked. He had not informed me beforehand. It just came.

I was overwhelmed. Humbled. Quiet. God had seen it all. He had seen my faith in giving. He had seen the moment when I gave not out of plenty, but out of trust.

And He responded.

The Bible says: "Do not worry about tomorrow?" and "Give, and it will be given to you?" but that day, I didn't just read those words - I lived them.

That student didn't just remind me of my daughters. She reminded me of what it means to give when it hurts, to love without expecting, and to be open to being blessed in return.

Sometimes, it's not about the amount. It's about the heart.

And when you give from the heart, even your last 50 cedis can become the beginning of a testimony.

Because she took it, blessed me - and God blessed me right back.
