"You deserve this. Not even your late mother can save you," Annabelle whispered in a menacing tone. She then stroke her pregnant belly and moved menacingly towards her stepson Julian, who was of borderline intelligence and pushed him into the swimming pool. She watched as Julian struggled in the swimming pool. Just then, she noticed that her stepdaughter Justina had seen everything. She advanced towards Justina menacingly, but before she could threaten the young girl, she saw her rich husband Karl come home. Annabelle quickly jumped into the pool and saved Julian. Julian, however, pushed Annabelle away and hid behind Karl and Justina.
"Julian, what happened? How did you fall into the pool?" Karl asked. Justina was about to say something when Annabelle silenced her with her threatening gaze. Julian pointed at Annabelle. "She...she tried to..." he lisped, but before he could finish his sentence, Annabelle interrupted him.
"He must have been so scared over the ordeal, and so confused. Besides, I'm a pregnant woman. How can I do such a heinous thing?" Annabelle said as she wiped away imaginary tears.
"Julian, is that true?" Karl asked again. Julian, however, kept looking in Annabelle's direction, afraid of facing her wrath.
"Annabelle, you leave us first. Let me talk to Julian and Justina," Karl said. He then called out Lisa, the Kan family's domestic helper. "Lisa," he continued. "Bring Madam to her room, and make some food and drink for her." Annabelle paced up and down in her room, worried that her stepchildren will tell on her. Moments later, Karl came into her room.
"I've spoken to Julian and Justina. They admit that they were spreading lies about you because they feel that you were replacing their late mother. I'm punishing them. Tomorrow I'll send them to the countryside as punishment," Karl reassured her. When he exited the room, Annabelle let out an evil smile. "Karl Kan Siu-ming, I can't believe you're so naive," she muttered, stroking her pregnant belly. "My baby son isn't yours anyway. But just you see, once you transfer the assets over to my future son, I'll kick you out and take over ownership of your house."
The next day, Karl took Julian and Justina with him to the car, with Lisa in tow. Once the car had driven off, Annabelle called her lover Frank.
"The coast is clear. That idiot has taken the 2 brats with him, and the maid has gone with them. You can come over now," she said. Half an hour later, Frank was already at the house. Annabelle poured him a glass of wine and they sat on the sofa. There, she bragged about how she had tricked Karl into taking responsibility for her baby with Frank, and that how naive Frank was not to notice she had been cheating on him with Frank all along. She then bragged about wanting to get rid of Julian and Justina so that she could get the inheritance for their baby, and the next step would be to convince Karl to sign all of his assets over to her and Frank's baby, after which they would kick him out and live in the house.
"Oh, really?" Karl's booming voice rang out. Annabelle was shocked to see Karl at the doorway, together with Julian, Justina, Lisa and the police. It turned out that after Karl had asked Annabelle to exit, Justina told him what she had seen, and Julian confirmed that Annabelle tried to drown him in the swimming pool. Although Karl initially refused to believe what he had heard, he was aware that Julian, despite having borderline intelligence, was not capable of lying, and it was the same for Justina, who was a year younger than Julian. He checked the CCTV footage, which confirmed that the children's story was true. He was even more shocked to find out that Annabelle had been cheating on him with Frank. She would invite him over to their house whenever no one was in the house, and the unborn baby was a product of their affair. To lower Annabelle's guard, Karl pretended to want to send the children to the countryside. He had driven his car to a sheltered area, and once Frank had entered the house, Lisa called the police. As the CCTV cameras had been turned on, Annabelle's conversation with Frank had been recorded.
With the evidence gathered, Annabelle was taken into custody. Investigations also revealed that Frank was also involved in Annabelle's scheme, so he was prosecuted alongside Annabelle, where they both received lengthy prison sentences. Karl filed for divorce, but offered to raise Annabelle's baby son after his birth, citing that the baby is innocent. With justice being served, the Kan family went back to their normal lives, relieved that everything was over.
