Unit
Unit has an appealing central idea: a machine designed to obey gradually becomes defined by the choices he makes to keep moving, escape, and follow Model. I especially liked the contrast between Model’s determined, purposeful behavior and Unit’s more instinctive curiosity. Their connection gives the long chase through the factory an emotional thread, while Mudbot’s friendly appearance briefly adds warmth to an otherwise harsh world. The repeated endings are interesting as alternate possibilities, though they also make the story feel unresolved rather than intentionally open-ended. I wanted more dialogue and characterization between Unit and Model, since their relationship is the strongest part of the piece. The strange factory setting and abandoned human city create a memorable dystopian backdrop.

The Lost Mansion
There’s a lot of imaginative material here: the witch, mermaids, the hidden map, the mansion’s locked rooms, and the eventual cult ritual all give the story a dreamlike adventure atmosphere. I especially liked the gradual suggestion that Lolkien’s mission is not really about finding treasure, and that Derrick may have been manipulated from the beginning. However, the story moves so quickly from one discovery to the next that the characters rarely have time to develop, and I often felt unsure about where the other members were or why they made certain choices. The ending also introduces several major revelations—the forgotten meeting, Lolkien’s followers, and Derrick’s allegiance—without fully explaining them, so the mystery feels more confusing than satisfying. Still, the strange imagery and open-ended conclusion give the story an eerie, game-like quality.
