Whispers of Kuldhara
This is a wonderfully atmospheric little ghost story. The abandoned lanes, the cold temple, and especially the repeated whisper of “Not yours...” create a strong sense of unease. I also liked how the girl in the red sari is introduced after the warning not to listen to her—it gives the final chase a haunting, sorrowful quality rather than making her feel like just a typical jump scare. The ending lingers nicely, with the narrator still hearing her years later. I would have loved a little more insight into who the girl was and what happened to the villagers, but the mystery is part of what makes Kuldhara feel so unsettling.

An excellent story about the unknown. As befits a well-crafted tale of this kind, it leaves the door open to an entirely natural explanation, with no need to invoke the supernatural.
