People talk.
They talk about what they see, what they think they know, and sometimes about things they know absolutely nothing about. And the interesting thing about people is that by the time a story travels from one person to another, it rarely remains the same. Someone adds a little. Someone assumes something else. Another person gives it meaning. Before long, a story that began with a small truth has become a completely different story.
So, who told you?
And who told them?
Let them talk.
You cannot control every conversation that happens when you are not in the room. You cannot correct every assumption, answer every accusation, or explain yourself to every person who has already decided what they want to believe.
Sometimes, silence is the strongest response.
Because people may talk about your past, but they do not know your journey. They may judge your choices, but they do not know what it took for you to make them. They may repeat what someone told them, but repetition does not turn a story into truth.
And most importantly, do not allow someone else's negative version of you to become your reality.
Do not start doubting yourself because someone misunderstood you.
Do not start shrinking because someone tried to make you look small.
Do not become bitter because someone told a story about you that was never complete.
And do not let the opinions of people who only know pieces of your story write the ending for you.
People are entitled to their opinions.
You are entitled to your truth.
So let them say what they want.
Let them speculate.
Let them add their own chapters.
Let them believe what they choose to believe.
But while they are talking, keep becoming.
Keep growing.
Keep walking.
Keep your heart clean.
Keep your eyes on where you are going.
Because one day, the truth does not need an announcement. Your life will speak for you.
And when that day comes, some people will realize that the story they believed was never the whole story.
Who told you?
Maybe they heard a version.
Maybe they heard an assumption.
Maybe they heard a story someone else created.
But they were never there for the whole journey.
So let them talk.
Just don't let the negative become true.
