I have been preparing for my JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) in Kota, a well renown institution known for giving the nation's brightest minds in the field of science and is profoundly known to give high rankers in this prestigious exam.
As because I come from a middle-class family, and my financial status receives fluctuations that year and I was in a state of exigency to give the installment to the coaching institute in upcoming month. I always have apprehensions regarding the fact that I have to relinquish from the coaching institute, and I quit from Kota. I have to give my 12th boards and JEE mains and advanced in next one year and now my imperative need is to have a mentor who can help me with my studies, can guide me in right direction and can lift me up to the level that the catechism needed.
One night, when I was studying in my room I heard a knocking at my door. As I am a boarder, I am accustomed to being inspected by my fellow teachers, warden and of course my so called 'classmates'.
But this time it is bizarre because no one to whom I have acquaintances with should be coming in the witching hour and that to in a wintry night where the chilling breeze is moving, waving squatting the leaves .I pulled my chair, put my sippers and hobble to the door, open the latch and then what I have seen was in any way out of blue and I can never ever envisage in my wildest of my dreams.
A woman may be in her thirties or forties, in a black gown, hair tightly knit together and has a weird mark on her forehead was standing at my door. I conjecture that she must be the new warden or new teacher in charge. She told me that she is the new teacher in charge who has been assigned for helping students in their study, my room's light was on, and she can see a silhouette, so she came to ask if I need any help and what I was doing in such late night. I enjoin her that I was doing nothing except solving some questions .I asked her that how she can help me, she told me that she has notwithstanding the teacher in charge of the floor, she runs her own coaching institute and is a prologue of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology, a very rare concoction that is seen in today's Indian education system.
In this way we become late night partners, and she always knocks at my room every night, solves my queries, guide me in right direction and also shares her experience so that I can learn from it, and improvised my study's well. Time is going very swiftly and smoothly but I contemplate a very eerie behavior whenever she comes to my dormitory. I feel that the temperature slightly drops down, sound of waving leaves becomes more prominent than before, and an unknown fear encompasses my mind.
But anyway, with a profuse number of late-night lectures given by my newly acquainted mentor, the crack of doom arrived.
The results for JEE Mains arrived and I have achieved a very decent rank.
But the real day of judgement is yet to be arrived when it arrived, it's arguably the most astounding thing happens in my life.
I have topped both in advance and board and have created a history. Now I have added feathers on the hat to the school and my family.
In farewell party, I have encountered a man, and he is no other than the father of woman who in her thirties or forties, killed herself in the same room where I spent my nights. Maria, the name of the women killed herself because she cannot manage the direst stress of the cessation of her coaching institute is none other than the woman who gave me late night lectures and guided me in the voyage that I am very sure of I cannot make without the guidance and help from Maria.
I received a mail, the next day that I have receive my dream college. Tears fell from my eyes, days of perseverance and the feeling of being broken, everything pays off. Now twenty years later, I have been working in one of the India's most prestigious company with a package of 80cr.
one day, I wake up in the morning ,taken off my night suit and went to the powder room to take a shower, when I returned I find a 30-40 years women in black gown, with a familiar mark on her forehead, sitting on my bed, giving me a very devilish smile when I stares at the man who is sleeping besides her that is no other than me!
