It is a great afternoon at the Rivers' house and when Alexa came home she immediately talked to her parents about her plans about how she is going to celebrate the Christmas holidays with her friends. Her excitement was short lived when she found out what her parents have planned for the family on the holidays.

"What? You rented a cabin at Alpine Spring?" she said, needing to confirm what she just heard.

"Yes, and I expect all of us to spend Christmas there as a family and that includes you young lady. We are leaving next week so I hope you look forward to it. Okay?" her mother said with finality. Alexa just nodded which made her mother smile softly at her then left.

Alexa isn't exactly bummed about it because she knows that her mother meant well. Plus, she is going to be in Alpine Spring which she heard from her friend who had been there that it was a good place. She called her best friend Piper that she wouldn't be able to join them on the holidays on the account that she is going with her family to Alpine Spring. Piper understands and told her to have fun and to not worry about telling their other friends because she is going to that for her. Alexa thanks her for it and they said goodbye to each other before hanging up the phone.

The week has passed by and the family are now at Alpine Spring. Alexa's parents has rented a small cabin for their family to stay in. They had encountered some problems like they found out that due to some heavy snow their family friend Lucy who is actually planning to spend her holiday with her own family to Orlando but is only with them because she volunteered to drive their other car who has some of their stuff since her flight is still tomorrow can't even leave because she found out that the road has been closed because of the snow which also means that Mark, Alexa's older brother who is supposed to be driving later to Alpine Spring with the presents can't come to where they are.

Just when things aren't bad enough. The family starts having an argument with each other because of the problems that are happening to them. Alexa's sister Jackie is even blamed for suggesting the trip in the first place. While the family are arguing, Alexa got an idea. She sat down in front of the piano and started playing 'O Holy Night' on the piano which made the family stop bickering and started listening to her sing the Christmas song. A few moments later, the family joined her in singing the song and have forgotten about what they were fighting about. When the song ended, their mood has been lifted and so they decided to just enjoy celebrating Christmas Eve with their loved ones.

It is now the next day, which means it is Christmas Day. The family is so happy when they woke up and they saw Mark entering the cabin and telling them that the roads have opened again because by some miracle the snow isn't heavy anymore which got Lucy happy telling them that it seems that she is not going to miss her flight after all. They exchange presents before enjoying the rest of their time in Alpine Spring since they will be going home tomorrow. Alexa is glad for how her Christmas turned out and realized that spending Christmas with her family is better than her original plan after all.
