It has come to my realization that this is a new season yet how does a season repeat itself within the same year? Not long ago, I found myself in a season that made no sense. It felt like a thief of joy and destiny. Still, I stepped into it and kept moving forward, understanding that it, too, would pass and that I must not cling to the pain forever.
As time went by, a season of sickness crept in unexpectedly. I wondered if I would ever find rest. It was a season of repetition, but little did I know it was also a season of floods. How could that be? I walked through mud, searching for the remnants of hope like a farmer seeking surviving crops but it was too wet to continue. Stopping seemed the only option. Waiting for the ground to dry was necessary. But when will it be dry?
No one knows. Yet we believe someday, it will.
This season we are all waiting for always feels close, but just as it’s within reach, a wall like the wall of Jericho rises to block the way. From a distance, I try to grasp it, but the next moment the door slams shut, marked: DO NOT ENTER.
Spiritually, they say it means the time is not yet right. But when is the right time?
Now and then, it feels like a game of STOP and GO. How far is the destination? This is not impatience it’s fatigue from everything. While a calendar year may have four seasons, this one seems to have only one: a lingering, relentless season.
A season where dreams, joy, and achievements are nowhere in sight. They do not approach, nor send signs of arrival. We are told to wait but for how long, and by what means?
This is a test. We are living in a season of tests, day after day.
They say, “There is no testimony without a test.” And so we cry, we plead, we rest but we do not give up. We dust ourselves off and continue walking, our faces drawn with sorrow, our wounds still open. Dogs lick our sores as we pass, but do I care? Do you care? Do we care?
Yes we care enough to keep fighting. Because we believe we are strong, and that we will conquer.
This season of winds and floods will pass.
And we will not drown.
We will swim.
