It was Saturday's evening. It was time for farmhands to get their wages after a tiring week. They cherished the whole night in the small bar nearby. some were drinking others were playing cards. Tom Evans, like the rest of workers, was very happy.
He was not tall. His body was full and his hair was wavy. His cheeks were always red. His teeth were so shining.
Tom was lovely. Even the animals there loved him. He gave them names. Most of His life was in the barn. Now, he was 30. He didn think of marriage. When he finished work. He went to his house. There were a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. With him lived the wise Mom Witty and his little sister Betty. She was at the secondary school. She was a brillant student. Tom was ready to sacrifice everything to see her an engeneer.
Tom had never went to school, however he was so clever. He was also able to communicate with animals. There was a phrase that Tom would never forget " only the lamb is born covered by wool". It was his mom’s most repeated sentence whenever she saw Tom penny less. That was the life of Tom for many years.
His sister now got her university degree. She was the first in her university which made her the special student of the year. She got a gift from the ministry. she celebrated that event within her lovely family.
The owner of the farm heard about the good news. She visited Tom and congratulated Betty warmly. She gave her a sum of money as a gift. They thanked her.
Mom witty hugged the owner, mrs Woody Marta. She was a business woman. Besides her farm, she had got a factory of cotton.
When she left, Betty gave the sum to her brother,he refused. He told her" enjoy yourself. Tomorrow, go to the city with mom Witty. Buy what you want and have good time there"
That kind behaviour from Marta pushed Tom to make more efforts.
Mom Witty was very excited. She hadn’t visit the city since she was a bride 38 years ago. She remembered few places. When they reached the hotel, where Mom Witty and Alex her late husband spent the honey moon. She remembered their love story. Unfortunately, the hotel changed into ruins. They went then to a supermarket. They bought beautiful things. It was a great day. In the evening, they gathered around the table. They had a delicious pizza. They started talking about the journey they had. Mom Betty really liked it. Before they went to sleep ، Betty gave Tom a smart suit with a shining tie. She added a wonderful watch. That was emotional.
The next day was the beginning of winter. The sky was cloudy. They knew it was going to rain. So the animals would not leave the barn. John was Tom's companion. He was a cattleman. He was jealous. He usually cheated at work. When he took the animals out ,he didn't take care of them. John was not happy to see it raining. He knew that Tom is a hardwrking. He would give him no chance to cheat. The first week of witer was exhausting for John who got use to sloth. In the next days, he got a backache which stopped him fromا working. Now, Tom was alone. He never complained. That night he was having a nap. He heard some whine. He got in among the sheep. It was lolly. She was giving birth. He helped her. It was her first time. She had twins : a female and a male. At that Time
Tom remembered his Mom 's saying" only the lamb is born with wool.".He named them Jack and Sofy Lolly thanked Tom in her way.ا
After winter, beauty was seen. Flowers and trees were green. The sheep and cows were healthy.
The harvest was extraordinary. That helped Marta to double her wealth. But her husband soon passed away after an accident. Mrs woody was shocked. She had difficult moments. James Woody was taking care of the factory. Now Mrs Woody couldn’t focus on two places. She would trust any other person because she was serious.
One night, they were having dinner, they usually have pasta, suddenly they heard a knock on the door. Tom opened. He welcomed the comer" hello Mdm ! What a surprise. Mom Witty and Betty stood to welcome the visitor" "hi mdm Marta join us" said Witty. Marta was so modest with Mom witty.
After finishing the meal. Mrs Woody found it tasty. " that was the most delicious pasta I have ever had" Said Marta. Then Betty presented some dessert. When they finished, Marta asked Betty to visit her in the factory. Of course the young girl accepted.
The following day, Betty was well deressed and went to the factory in the city nearby. She found Mrs Woody waiting for her. She welcomed her. She requested her to replace Mr Woddy. She provided her some training.
That was the best news for Tom. In one month, Betty surprised Marta.
" you are so clever. How come. In 30 days, you grasp how the job is going"said Marta.
She gathered all the workes there to declare officially that Betty was the direct boss and first responsible for them.
Things seemed to be better than the past. Betty knew how to push workers to work harder.
She gave rewards to the ones how sacrified whatsoever to give their best. That strategy was fruitful. Marta was satesfied.
Now, Jack got bigger. He become a mture horny ram. He obied no one exept Tom. He loved him so much. In fact, they exchanged the same feeling. One day, Tom was feeding Lolly. John was lurking behind cows. He held a shovel. He said to himself" now or never
" he was creeping towards Tom like a snake and suddenly he decided to hit him on the head. At that time Jack ran furiously and battered his sharp horns in John's belly leaving him. He was on the ground bleeding. Tom turned with trumbling heart to find John about to die. The shovel was thrown away. Jack stood proudly beside his friend. Tom took John to the hospital. He called Marta telling her what happened. She got angry. She immediatly drove to the hospital. John's situation was embarrassing. He appologized for Tom. Then he passed out. Marta asked" what happened" Tom told her what happened. She thanked God for the safety of Tom who hygged Jacked warmly.
Later on, Marta called Tom to visit her in the villa. When he came. She surprised him" Tom ! I love you. Would marry me ? "He was about to lose conscience." I can t deny it. Yes, I do"
