A disciple was going to his village after taking a week's leave from his guru. Then the village had to be reached on foot. On his way, he saw a well. The disciple was thirsty, so he drew water from the well and soaked his throat. The disciple got wonderful satisfaction, because the water of the well was very sweet and cold.
The disciple thought - why not take the water here for Guruji as well. He filled his head and headed back towards the ashram. He reached the ashram and told everything to Guruji. Guruji took a mask from the disciple and drank water and felt satisfied. He said to the disciple- Really water is like Ganges water. The disciple was pleased. Hearing such praise from Guruji, the disciple went to his village after taking permission.
In no time another disciple living in the ashram reached Guruji and he also expressed his desire to drink that water. Guruji gave the mask to the disciple. As the disciple took the sip, he rinsed out the water. The disciple said - Guruji, there is no bitterness in this water, nor is this water cold. You in vain praised that disciple so much.
Guruji said - Son, what if there is no sweetness and coolness in this water. It is in the mind of the one who brought it. When that disciple would have drank the water, love for me arose in his heart. That is what is important. I too did not like the water of this mask like you. But I didn't want to hurt his heart by saying this. It may be that when the water is filled in the bottle, then it becomes cool and even when the water is not cleaned, this water has not remained the same, but the love of the mind of the person who brings it does not diminish, does it?
Lesson of the story - Things that hurt others' hearts can be avoided and good can be found in every evil.
