Can you believe in what is not there
Some paths lead to freedom of self
Preface
I don't know if what I'm about to say is true, which should make you uncomfortable. I hope it is, because it would give purpose to our daily struggles—mistakes, wrong turns, losses. If our paths were set, even minor disruptions might be beneficial. If you knew you'd get into your school no matter what, would you work or do nothing? Be honest. I probably would do the same. So, let’s not deceive ourselves.
Now, why are you reading this? If you're learning from each file like I am, I commend myself. But if your mind is mush and I am nearly adding to the consistency, that's a failure I dislike admitting.
Honestly, I don't know why I do this, but to keep my thoughts straight, which is hard now.
This account is from a third party. I didn't believe it until I witnessed it. I had to share it despite no connection, just in case. I’ll start with what a man, who died an hour ago in a strange way, told me. If I seem rushed, that's why. I'm writing this because I might not get another chance.
So here we go, let me start this by saying I am listening to the tapes that I made of this account before the subject, after the person who told me was taken from us, I will call it that, and leave your mind to imagine what was done to him.
Chapter 1
The statement
-The statement-The Hospital
I was on call, you see, and just finished my shift when I saw a man come into the building. He was not bad off, but the faces of the men around him were truly much worse. I knew I had to be involved. Karl, you understand I had a feeling this was going to change my life, and for the better than it is now. So I went back into the hospital, officially clocked back in, and went to room 4, where this man was brought.
When I walked in, he was covered in a mixture of blood and a powder I did not understand. I did, in my young years, work at a funeral home. Think about it: a young funeral home worker is now stopping their product from joining them. Anyway, the smell was just like when I had to clean out the cremation chambers. It was in the air heavy and dry and wrong.
So I had all the clothes removed, and with all that blood, not even a bruise on his body. Not a scratch. Not a tear. I then told everyone to leave the room so I could hear his heart and other functions very clearly, to be sure there was no internal bleeding that was not seen yet. The room went quiet, too quiet, like even the machines were holding their breath.
And when they left, the man looked at me with a burning look and asked me, “Are you them?”
And I said, “Them who mister, I do not even know your name, you are in a hospital now,”
And he looked at me and said, “I will never need a hospital, but everyone here will if I do not leave now. They know now. They know!” and then he fell back down.
And to be honest, I saw nothing wrong with this man, even after what I was told. You see, there were at least 50 missing people, now just their clothes left at a diner and a burning barn, and then this man was found passed out in between them both.
“Karl, are you hearing me? That man was the key to everything. I needed to wake him up so he would talk.”
So, I went to the med cabinet and got a medium dose of what we called there the “Get the hell up,” and gave him a larger dose, but still safe.
That was when this story came out. I am about to tell you, Karl, just record and copy because I still remember this, if I ever forget it will not be soon.
So when he woke up, it was an event as he breathed deeply, almost like he was going into convulsions, but he did not. His chest rose hard and fast, and for a second, I thought I had made a mistake. Then he looked at me and said something in a strange way as he focused on me,
“So you are the one to pass on the tale, I beg you to remember until you do, then nothing will be needed any longer, your task will be done.”
So whatever that meant, he let go of me and started talking in a very calm way that, for some reason, just stayed with me, not like a memory but more as if it belonged there, in me somehow. I do not know Karl, it was strange, but ok you are recording, right?
Ok, so here we go, what the strange man told me, buddy, maybe you can do something with this weirdness.
Oh, ya, you will not be hearing wrong, Karl. He almost sounded like he saw some of what we said through other eyes, as if it was told to him by someone else, so there would be a complete tale. Anyway, Ready. OK, good. Here is what he told me, my friend, maybe you will understand.
-The statement- The diner
“So we were out on our yearly family trip in the wagon. I know Nora hated that big thing, but Tim and Laura loved that car because you could sit or relax and not have to worry about falling as you changed positions. So they were in the back, and my Nora was as close as she could get. That was why I had that car. I think she knew, but she never let on. I liked it when she rode next to me on the road, and that center belt made it kinda safe, also.
“So she looked at me and said, ‘Mark, don’t you think we should get some dinner before too much longer?’ So I agreed because I was also ready to eat a meal after a full six hours of driving with only stopping for gas and other required actions. Then I started seeing signs on the side of the road like they were stuck in the ground. And I nudged Nora to get up and see also, so she could help make the choice.
“‘Grand opening.’ ‘Best homegrown food around.’ ‘Big grand baking day today.’ And the last one was a big sign into the ground not to be taken down anytime soon, ‘Hey you, turn now for a meal you can tell your folks about.’ And then Nora said, ‘Mark, let's go, we are all ready for a sit-down real meal, babe.’ So I did the worst thing I could have done.
“You know, when you have the feeling life was looking on, wondering if it was the time to bring out the new life now, just waiting for you to screw up, well, it was that time for me, Doc, and I failed the test. I failed my whole family, you understand.
“You see what I, for some reason, know now. As we turned in, there were guys in the truck that the sign was hooked to, and they said, ‘OK, we have enough for her now, let’s get inside.’ Then they folded the big sign down onto the truck and waited for us to get inside before they drove behind the barn.”
“We went in the door, and it was a nice-looking place, some strange, unsafe electrical choices, but a nice country place. We all sat down watching our step, when Tim looked at me and said, ‘Dad, what’s the deal with the cables everywhere? Are we in an animatronic display or something?’ and I just looked at him, and since I knew nothing he was saying, I just said no, and we ordered well-made food that was good. Then I found out it had to be so it would all be in us instead of left on the plate. They are all gone, Doc. My family. My Nora. My kids. I have nothing, but I must tell you why, Doc. You are the one to pass it on. Protect others from them if there are more out there, Doc.”
“You see, Karl, that was when I told him he had to calm down, or I would have no choice but to knock him out again. The fact was, I was a sci-fi nut and loved his story, even if it did sound like a book and not life. Either way, he did listen and calmed down just then and started talking normally to me again.”
“Doc, sorry, I got a bit wound up, but should I not, about powder that used to be people, Doc?
“So we ordered, like I might have said already, then we all ate, service was great, until, when I wanted the check, you see we had another two hours to go, so I did not want to drive at midnight. The servers that were so helpful just all disappeared before I got the check. Then there was an old man who came out and stood on a box so we all could see him, as if there was a show starting, so I got my kids to look just in case it was.
“Then the man said, ‘The misses thank you for all you will be doing for her, and we all thank you for your gifts you brought her as well, you see when the misses is old all is not good for us here at his gates.’ Then a chair was brought out and placed on that same box, where the men who were serving us were now in black robes. Then they hooked up some of those tricky wires we had to step on to that same chair.
“From all around us was a humming of sorts, you know, like what you hear is a church choir, I guess would be the best example of it, but this was no church tune for sure, it almost hurt my ears, and I saw Laura cover her ears with two paper towels. That was when I said she looked ridiculous, and we all had a laugh over that. The last laugh was on me, I guess.
“We were all having a good time right then when Tim pointed behind me, so I turned and saw four of the robed ones carrying a very old lady to the chair and put her in it, and right then I noticed outside there were hundreds of people circling the restaurant as if it was a show as well. So, I got the itch to get up and go until my wife, Nora, held my arm and said, ‘That would be rude of us to leave and not pay.’ So I sat back down as the crowd moved in, and I saw the chair start to light up with the old lady now sitting straight up.
“I could see a cloud in the corner, and I thought I heard a scream, then another, and the cloud seemed to be coming across the room as many people all tried to get up but could not. With the noise from that corner, there was something happening over there, due to the muffled, cut-off screams and ruckus.
“Tim looked at me and said, ‘Dad, I am stuck.’ Then Nora and Laura said the same thing. I could stand, so I tried to get them up. As I was pulling on Nora, I was pulling. You see, I had… I must tell you, because you're the chosen one, Doc, I was pulling Nora up, and she did not move, and as I was trying, she looked up at me, Doc, she looked at me and said “I Always Have Lov” before she became dust in my hands, Doc. Tim just turned to dust in the middle of a scream, and then Laura was also dust. As I looked, the whole place was dust. Then I looked at the old woman in the chair; she was no longer old at all. She was normal-looking and appeared to be in her 30s, with deep green, glowing eyes. The crowd outside was going crazy with excitement.
“Just then, two goons came over to me and said, ‘Come with us, sir,’ and they brought me to the now young lady, as she asked me who I was, and I told her, ‘Mark Jenkins from Ohio,’ then she said again, ‘No, who are you really?’ And just then, it was like I was not myself as I picked up the two guys and threw them through the front windows, and as the glass broke I jumped through the same windows onto the ground, I was out in the rain searching for the keys as I got in the car with guns firing at me as I heard the shots hitting the car, and I drove away as all the windows shattered around me. Doc, I drove away as they shot. Do I look even injured? I am me. I am Mark Jenkins. I know my name. I am Mark Doc. I am Mark. A salesman. Just a Mark.”
Karl, he just laid there saying that for almost 20 minutes. Remember, I was off the clock and just there for this man, not supposed to be there at all at that time, so I was able to get some water, then got him some also. When I came back and gave it to him, then he said, “Doc, do not leave again, if you do not hear it all, it will never be told, as I will no longer know. Why did I say that? Doc, just stay please until I am done here.”
Then he lay back as I gave him all the water. Then he said in a weak voice, “Nora, Tim, and Laura were taken by them. So I had to go back.”
Then Karl, this strange man, did the strangest thing. He took off all his jewelry and gave it to me and said to me in a very deep, different voice, “Mr. Samuels, there are his pieces of gold to pay you for the words you will tell others.”
But Karl, I looked down, and I already took off my name badge. I never told him my name. So I looked around, even on the papers, no name yet, he was too new a patient. That was when I knew there was something special here and now, so I sat and waited for him to start. I knew he would be starting soon.
“Doc, you know what I did next? Nothing. I just pulled over and sat while the car was idling. I knew if I went any further, I would not be able to get back. So I opened the back of the car and got anything I could use as a weapon. I put it next to me in the seat and started back to where this happened, and I lost my family to whatever these things were. I had no idea what I was going to do, Doc, but I knew exactly what I needed to get.
“I then pulled off the road and got my large wrench, broke off barbed wire, and spun it on the crowbar until it made a ball, and took my gloves and taped them on the other end to make a handle, Doc. I never did anything like this before, but I knew what I needed right then.
“I drove there with the lights off and watched from the road as they all went into the old barn on the property. I knew right then what was going to happen. When they all got into the building, I took the car on idle so no noise could be heard, pulled right in front of the big doors, and parked it. I got out, slow and calculated, for no sounds at all, and took my poker and put a hole in the gas tank. Then I walked to the back and broke the lock so I could go inside. I had no idea what I was going to do then.”
Karl, this is where that other very deep voice that did not sound like Mark at all continued the story as if he was telling the tale from above, I guess I could say. He started with,
“Mark was going to make right what was done to him in a way that would make the owners of truth and justice proud. He will gain the power to the surface that he always had but never used, to bring justice to the few that are not just in our land, starting with the worst that take life and never give it back. So when Mark went into the building, his inner power and the savior strength grew in him, due to the amount of evil in that would be dark church. He was seen by many, but his stare froze their bones, so they could say nothing. He walked behind the witch of ages, and the stealer of many souls, she remained where she should not know who was on the way to her. And that was when he said the words Mark was given in the womb to say to those he knew as evil. With his words, the witch turned quickly for her but slowly for the true tool of the land, the giver of truth, and before she got even half around the turn she would need, Mark jabbed the tool he made through her. Only then did she know the pain of many, as Mark placed the second part of the tool on her, to cause an internal giving of truth to flow down to her as the cross became made by Mark within that evil herself became the sun, and would burn all who would look upon it as if the sun itself was on them now. As the sun came up to the earth, the light went out, claiming all who were not of the good and made them as she did to dust upon the earth, so they could be reclaimed by the giver of light to the land, then the savior was completed.”
Karl, after that Bible-hoping kind of talk, his real voice came back as if he was still telling his tale, and he never said those things.
“Doc, I found myself out in the grounds. I was not even aware of how I got there. I thought I drove away, then I was so tired, and I knew I had done something, and I knew it was time to rest, so I just lay down in the dirt like the dog I was. I could not save my family. I made this happen. I just wanted to fade away and die, Doc.”
The statement- The Wondering
Karl, I felt done. I had little energy left to even move. But Mark looked done, too. He said no more, so I thought this episode was over. There was nothing more I could do for him. It was going to be up to the police to sort all this out.
However, Karl, the strangest thing was that every time I went to tell someone what I was told, I could remember nothing of it. Nothing. But with you now, it was exact, as if I was hearing it again in real time. Karl, my friend, there is something going on with this. I knew I could count on you to listen and know what to do with this information I had been given. And you must do something, Karl. That is all I know.
Karl, I do not know what I was doing since I left. Where did I go? I left the hospital at two in the morning. And as you know it is now six at night, my friend. I have no idea where I have been all day. Where did I go? What did the words he told me make me do? I am me. I am Doc Jerry Samuels. I am a doctor. I have nothing left. I am Doc Samuels.
So Jerry started to do the same thing he had just told me Mark was doing, a repeating rally of self-determination. Since Mark stopped and continued his statements, I just sat there waiting for what was going to come after this routine that almost seemed like a mind overload of a sort. I just waited, hoping this would work, so I could find out more, like what happened during the missing hours.
It was almost an hour as he began to slow his cadence, and I got a cold bottle of water, knowing if he did come back, he would need it with no doubt. Finally, after almost one and a half hours, my friend Jerry came back to me and started by saying, “Wow, Karl, my throat got really dry, you have…” and I gave him the water, and that got him started again.
So my friend started to finish his tale as if he had never told me just an hour ago that he could not remember. And he just started up on his strange tale again.
“Karl, you know that when we get new unknowns, the first thing we do is take an X-ray of the basic center mass, looking for hidden issues. So the problem with Mark was that there seemed to be something blocking our X-rays. So, as I was leaving, I was called back inside because there was an oddity there that they wanted to re-X-ray many parts of him, almost like a full body scan. So I did approve it because, with his tale and now this, there was at least something interesting here.
“So when we got back the X-rays, they all had spots that would not pass through. I think I was the first to see it, or maybe even the only one. It made no difference because we were all on the floor, arranging the X-rays in the order they were taken, and also adding in what was from the original bunch. So I moved everything off the white table, laid out the X-rays as they came up, and noticed that many were the same image from different angles. So I started with tape and attached them to the light board, and it seemed like either a large item or many small ones wereforming a shadow under the skin. You see, normal X-rays would never show a black image that could be filtered, unlike bone or body tissue.”
“So I asked for a body scan, and he was off as I pieced the shots together until I had a full cross on the wall. Then the words, the way they were said, I knew again there was something there.”
“I followed my patient, or has this become a quest or project to find the truth? And he was set up for a full PET scan on the machine. However, every time we tried to scan the patient, the system would error out, repeatedly saying "improper mass setting." I never saw that before, nor did the tech running the system. So we were stuck with just the X-rays, which, according to them, showed a substance under the skin that appeared on the X-rays as an old Roman cross. We did not understand what was being seen, so one tech suggested taking a sample of the substance, and we all agreed the back would be the best place to do it.’
“So we took our sample, and it came back unknown or damaged, so we took another with the same output errors. Karl, there was no way there could be that much metal of any type and for it to test as high-density lead that was unreal. All samples tested were corrupted in the same way.”
“Karl, I do not know what was happening, but when I got back to Mark’s room, he was very upset, and there were three orderlies trying to keep him under control. And that is when he grabbed my shirt and pulled me close, and that deep voice again said, ‘Mark is in danger, Doctor Samuels. He must be moved to a secure lead room or out of this building. You decide to live or die now. You have three minutes. If you decide wrong, it was nice knowing you all.’ And then he fell back on the bed.’
“So after hearing that I had orderlies around me, and I said, ‘That was not his voice, and he has been calm the whole time here. Are we going to listen and hope or run and know?’ One ran off. The others said, "Why chance it? Where to, sir?" And I thought of waves and then X-ray, and I said to X-ray 4 quickly.
“And we all moved Mark to X-ray room 6, the lowest and oldest, when walls were made for nuclear-type protection. And we moved in there, and we all held our breaths. I looked at my watch, and at three minutes I called the front desk, where Mrs. Welco said, " May I help you? Then a scream in the background. Then words, ‘Where is he? He has to be removed for balance now!’ And then Mrs. Welco did not answer again. I just had to hope they would leave when they found nothing.
“Then I looked up at the video camera and said, " Camera. And two of the guys balanced chairs, and the third tore it down. I did not know if it was fast enough, or if we were safe in here. I thanked the orderlies, and Mark and I got under the bed before the last orderly lowered the bed until we barely fit. Hoping he would not even look.
“I called upstairs again and got a man who said, wherever it is we are busy, and screamed out is it safe? And the man must have heard me and only said not for the living, and he hung up. I had no idea about what was happening other than it was for us, and we were hiding away like a bunch of rats.
“That did not go well for me, so I called Mark’s name again, except unlike last time, I got a response this time, and it was a ‘where am I?’ where I said, ‘Safe unless you keep talking.’ And then continued to say, ‘I was told they are here and tracking you, so we are hiding.’ Where Mark said, ‘I am not a rat. I will not let others take my place of suffering, move doc, I need to remove the trash from this building.’
So Karl, we got up, and I started back by way of the steps to the lobby floor. I just stood there as Mark left, as I followed him at a distance. Karl, when Mark got back to the Emergency Room lobby, he went from invader to invader, and nothing hurt him until they were all down. He was just standing there until he walked over to me, grabbed a chart and pen, and wrote this on it here. I can not read the letters. I was hoping that you could, my friend. And with that, my journey was completed, and I gave you my story to someone who can let the world know of things that are real and others that are fighting them. Can you do that for me, Karl?
I then looked into my friend’s eyes, said I would take that on, and took the paper from his hand. And right then, when his task was completed, a man came into the room through the door that was locked, but no more, and said, “Doc, you have completed half of your task, and you have now been given passage to the kingdom on the highest realm there is.”
And as I was watching, the Doc started to glow and slowly just vanished as if he was never there. And Mark, I had to assume, turned to me and said, “I think it is Karl, it is your task now to contact even more. When you do your task, it will also be completed and done.”
That is one of the reasons I will not publish this story until I have no wind through my lungs and I no longer work on this earth. However, I will keep this for the two I have hope I will find from what another told me, so we will both choose our time to pass on as one.
And then I had another rule for myself. I must not die until we can do it as one. Whoever that other half of my soul is, she will surely be tough, that I know also from what I was once told.
CHAPTER 2
The Monks
After this was done, and Mark walked on like nothing had taken place in my home at all, there was no proof that Doc was ever even here. But then the paper he gave to me was full of marks that to me were not just marks but almost like a number. If I looked and let my eyes unfocus to see what was behind the lines, it came into focus, and as I was looking, I wrote down what I saw for real again. They were 34.456939, -117.867779, so I went looking to find what that would be. And I got my bag of tricks and an overnight bag and went off to the East LA mountains.
When I arrived, I was not greeted. I was not asked any questions. Everyone was very nice and no help, as if I knew what I was doing. That was the strangest part. No suspicion. No welcome. Just acceptance.
I walked inside as the doors were open, and a man was there. I showed him the paper I was given, and after staring at me, he walked away, and I saw him talking on the radio. So much for the old monks who wrote with oil on bark and never spoke a word. I just stayed there when a robed man, looking like a monk, had a card with him. Oh, I guess the speech thing was still real.
The card said, “HELLO, I AM FATHER JOHNS. WE DO NOT SPEAK FOR RESPECT.” Then he gave me another card, “YOU, HOWEVER, WILL BE ABLE TO SHARE, IN THE RIGHT PLACE WHEN YOU ARE ASKED TO.” Then he gave me another card for a second, then took them all away again and started walking away. The last card said, “FOLLOW- NO VOICE- NO BIG STEPS- STAY CLOSE.”
We went down into many new-looking areas, then into very old ground, and even felt like ages of dust and dirt were all around us. The air changed. It felt older than the building itself. Then, to a section that had no lights, just a candle on the wall pushed into the dirt, I was asked by another man to leave all modern equipment in a box. So I did.
I walked into a room that had the door closed and sealed behind me to the point that my ears popped. Then a very old man came to me and said, “I hear you had news from what has happened as a glorious thing for us all. I would like to know.”
And I said, speaking as low as he did, in a small voice, that, “I was given a message to share with the world. I cannot share it because I am not ready to be called back, unlike the person who shared it with me was as I watched his fade away to light.”.
When I said that, I could see his eyes widen. And he spoke in a more gathered voice and said to me, “Have you seen such an event, you saw that happen?”
I then looked at him and said, “ya from the Doc that was paid in gold to hold the message, and when he gave it to me, he went white light, poof.”
The father backed into the wall behind him, made the cross on me and on me, and started speaking in a language I did not know very quickly. His hands were shaking, but his eyes were not.
Then he took a large key from his chest and opened a small door in a big door and stuck his hand in, and when it had light, he gasped in amazement, then came to me and said, “You need to see what has not happened in over 400 years, my son.”
Then we went to the same door and opened the main lock, and the room was so bright he made the cross dozens of times more. And then he bowed to the wall I could not see yet.
I followed the father into the same room, and I knew then that there was more to life than I had ever known. But on the wall was a large picture of a cross that was large and glowing , and in the middle of that cross was another picture of a man whose heart was pumping, and in the man were small lines that made up another cross in him as well. As if it were a shield, and I thought at that moment why Mark was unable to be hurt or die.
I then thanked the father. I have my answer sir. And I walked into the outer room and just waited.
The monk, or father, I do not know which, took my hand and kissed it once and said to me, you will know when the time to share will be right, that is why you have this task, my son. And then he opened the door, and I saw a large card in front of me being held by the last monk that just said “SILENT,” and he walked me to my car.
When he was out of the monk’s property, he said to me only one thing for me to take away.
“Karl, I think it was. The monk you saw underground has not spoken in any form for 30 years. For you, he broke his vow to be sure you understood what he said. Remember that as you drive off, my son, you are special in more ways than one. Someday, you will know how to use what you know is true.”
So, my friends, I have stopped on the side of the road here in a spot that is breathtaking to add this last part to my tape.
I do not know why I was the one given this information. Can it be? It will be best to know when to let it into the world. Will anyone care, or even believe what I say?
I know one thing.
I will know that if there is anything odd or strange, they will find me. I do not know why or how, even, but they are there. If it creeps or crawls, I will see it and need to kill it if it will kill others. If you are ugly and just want to play cards with your hands or pincers, you can, as long as you hurt no one.
However, if you go bang, or bump, and you have evil in your mind or death in your soul, you'd better watch it because for some way or reason I will be sent on your trail to finish you before your next event.
But for now, we have a superhero hidden in the crowd, and I have no idea what he will do next.
So I thought this episode of my life was finished. However, it is known now that others did not think so. You see, when I got back home, there was a visitor waiting for me. No break-in, no broken windows, no open balcony door. He was just there.
As I walked in, I could tell when there was another smell, a feeling, a noise that did not belong. So I went to the fridge and got out a soda and a beer and laid them on the table across from me and said, I got you a beer. I also have soda or water.
From the corner of the room, I was told, “A beer would be ok, Karl.”
When I saw him, I said, Hello Mark? Are you feeling better now, or still a bit split apart?
After he took a long gulp, he looked at me and, with a laugh, said, “You know, Karl, I have been in many places over the years, being a helper and not getting much until now, you see. I just need to know your intentions since you now know my story. However, I cannot find one for you. So, like I already asked, what are you doing now?”
I looked at Mark for a few seconds, then put it all out for him to see.
“Mark, I went to see the birthplace of you and what you represent and found out a few things about why and how you are even here. I also decided that I like my life now, and I have been told that if I wait, I will have all I ever wanted. So I wait. I do not tell. I stay silent. However, on our deathbeds, my wife and I will each tell half of the legend. And after that, we will be together as we were before. Other than that, I have no plans or even a woman yet to spend the plans with. Do not worry, Mark, you will have years to help others as you do.”
When I said that, he told me, “Karl, no commitment about possibilities. However, please get a new suit from the nineties at least and a better hat. I do not have worries if that is your life goal. I will be around doing a small part, I guess. I just wish my Nora could be here to finally know I am not a big lug of a man anymore. If you find your Nora, Karl, do what it takes to keep her. Remember, none of us has an infinite number of matches. We only have one real one, and if it were real, you would know so fast. But if you do not notice she is there, and she walks on you. Your heaven just walked away, and you never even knew her name.”
With that final word of hope for my future, I guess Mark walked out, and I do not know if I will ever see that savior again.
Then that statement made me pause for a second. I said that like I did. Is it because I know something I did not know I knew? That there are even more Marks in our cities and towns just waiting for the moment evil rises, so they can remove it in swift justice?
I don't have the answer to that question, but we should all reflect on it for a few minutes each week.
