This is a story about a beautiful little family with a mother, a father, and their two sons. The father worked as a pizza delivery boy, and the mother worked in an export company. Both of them worked hard to provide a good education for their children at a big school near their home.
The elder son’s name was Ajay, and the younger son’s name was Vijay.
Ajay understood his parents’ difficulties and behaved maturely. He helped them with chores at home and managed his own tasks. Vijay, on the other hand, was different. Vijay loved superheroes.
If anyone looked at his room, they would be surprised! His walls were covered with pictures and posters of superheroes. Whenever he went to a shop, he insisted on buying superhero dolls. Even the T-shirts he wore had superhero prints. Almost everything he owned had a superhero theme.
One day, Vijay’s teacher announced a competition at school. Every student was asked to draw their favorite superhero and speak about them for a few lines.
Vijay was thrilled. He rushed home and began trying to draw his favorite hero.
Ajay watched him. Vijay looked up and said, “Brother, I have so many superheroes. I don’t know which one to draw as my favorite.”
Ajay replied, “Draw the one you like most.”
“Okay, then tell me—who is your favorite superhero? I never knew who you liked,” Vijay asked curiously.
Ajay smiled and said, “I like two superheroes very much. And I’ve even seen them.”
Vijay’s eyes widened. “What? You’ve seen superheroes? Where? When? What clothes did they wear? What powers do they have? Did you talk to them? Did you take photos with them? Did you eat with them?” He fired off questions one after another.
Ajay laughed. “Vijay, wait! Calm down. I’ll tell you everything.”
Just then, they saw their father riding down the street on his delivery bike. Vijay said, “Dad went that way. Let’s follow him!”
“Alright,” said Ajay. “Come on, let’s go.”
They followed their father to a house where he was delivering pizza. They hid quietly outside, planning to surprise him afterward.
But suddenly, they heard a woman’s angry voice. It was the customer.
“You delivered this pizza too late!” she shouted. “I’ll take it, but I won’t pay. Leave now!”
Their father pleaded softly, “Please, Ma’am. If you don’t pay, they will cut the money from my salary. There was heavy traffic, I’m sorry for the delay. Please understand.”
But the woman was stubborn. “Leave now! Or I’ll complain!” she snapped, chasing him away.
From their hiding place, Vijay grew furious. “How dare she speak to Dad like that!” he whispered angrily. “Come on, let’s go tell her off!”
“No,” Ajay said firmly. “That would only upset Dad more. Let’s go home.”
Vijay reluctantly agreed. Then he said, “Let’s at least tell Mom about this.”
So the brothers went to their mother’s workplace. The place was busy. As they reached, they saw their mother being scolded loudly by her supervisor. She had accidentally measured and cut some cloth incorrectly. People around her whispered and laughed.
But their mother stayed calm, apologized, and quietly went back to work.
Vijay was boiling with anger. “That’s not fair! Mom made a small mistake, and he scolded her in front of everyone. Come on, Ajay, let’s go say something!”
“No,” Ajay said gently. “Mom would feel worse if she knew we saw this. Let’s go home.”
Back at home, Vijay grumbled, “Why are we just watching all this, Brother? Look how much they suffer. We should have stood up for them!”
Ajay said softly, “You’ll understand soon. Just watch their faces when they come home tonight.”
Vijay frowned. “They’ll probably be sad and crying.”
“Wait and see,” Ajay replied.
That evening, their mother and father returned home. To the boys’ surprise, both parents came in smiling. Their mother carried pani puri, and their father carried a red velvet cake.
“Here, dears,” they said warmly. “We already ate outside. Enjoy your favorite food.”
Vijay was stunned. Just hours earlier, both parents had been scolded and humiliated. Yet, they returned home cheerful and brought treats for their sons.
“How?” he wondered.
Ajay turned to him and said, “You asked me who my superheroes are, right? It’s our mom and dad.”
“Mom and Dad?” Vijay asked in disbelief.
“Yes,” Ajay explained. “Today you saw how badly they were treated. But they endured it all. Why? For us. They didn’t bring their sadness home. Instead, they came smiling and gave us our favorite food. That’s their power—the power of responsibility. They endure hardship so we can live happily, study well, eat well, and wear good clothes. That is what makes them real superheroes.”
Hearing this, Vijay’s eyes filled with tears. He tore up the superhero drawing he had made earlier and began a new one.
“What are you drawing?” Ajay asked.
“My superheroes,” Vijay said with a smile. “From now on, my superheroes are Mom and Dad.”
The next day, Vijay went to school and proudly presented his drawing. In front of his teacher and classmates, he said, “My superheroes are my mom and dad. Even though they suffer, they give me and my brother good food, good clothes, and good education. They always keep us happy. That is why they are my real superheroes.”
The whole class clapped happily. The teacher smiled and announced, “Vijay is the winner!”
Moral of the Story
True superheroes are not the ones we see in movies or comics. Real superheroes are parents, who face hardships silently but still bring happiness to their children. Their strength is responsibility, sacrifice, and love.
