I was already sitting inside my car, ready to leave.
The programme was over, and I had decided to pass through town to pick up a few things before heading home. I had finished everything I needed to do and was finally ready to drive away.
I closed the door.
I settled into my seat.
My hand was just about to move when, suddenly, a figure appeared beside my car.
I froze.
He had come so unexpectedly that, for a second, I simply stared at him through the window.
Where had he come from?
I had not noticed him approaching.
One moment, I was alone in my car, thinking about getting home. The next, he was standing right beside me.
He looked directly at me.
There was something about the timing of his appearance that made the moment feel strangely different from an ordinary encounter.
Then he spoke.
“You have a good heart.”
I was caught completely off guard.
“There are a lot of good things installed for you,” he continued. “I want to pray for you.”
I listened, still trying to understand why he had approached me so suddenly.
Then his expression changed.
“There are two people who hate you,” he said. “They have tried to work against you. They started with your leg, but it did not work. Then they went after your heart.”
A chill passed through me.
I had been thinking about leaving.
Now I was sitting behind the wheel, listening to words I had never expected to hear.
Then he told me he wanted to do something to protect me.
I looked at him for a moment.
And then I said,
“No. God is my protector.”
I gave him 50 cedis.
But even after the encounter ended, something about it stayed with me.
It was not only what he had said.
It was the way he had appeared beside my car at the exact moment I was about to leave.
And then I remembered something that made the whole experience even more difficult to dismiss.
Barely a month earlier, a minister of God had told me almost the same thing.
Now another person had appeared beside my car and repeated almost the same message.
Two people.
Two different encounters.
Barely a month apart.
And suddenly, I found myself asking a question that would not leave me.
Was it really just a coincidence?
Why did two different people speak about my good heart?
Why did both speak about good things ahead of me?
And why did those words find me when I was not searching for them?
Then an even deeper thought entered my mind.
What if I am carrying something I do not even know I carry?
Something I have not yet recognised.
Something others might somehow see before I see it myself.
A strength.
A gift.
A blessing.
A purpose.
I do not know.
Maybe it was coincidence.
Maybe it was simply timing.
But as I drove away that evening, I realised that some moments do not end when the people involved walk away.
They stay.
They make you question.
They make you look inward.
And sometimes, they leave you with a question you cannot answer.
Was it really just a coincidence, or was I being given a glimpse of something about myself that I have not yet discovered?
