Singajaya Market is one of the markets in my village that usually opens twice a week on Mondays and Saturdays. Open from 6 am to 11 am.
On Saturday, May 31, I accompanied my mother to Singajaya Market to shop for kitchen necessities such as vegetables and eggs. I went with my mother on a motorbike.
When my mother and I arrived, my mother got off the motorbike while I continued to the parking lot. As usual, my mother always told me to just wait in the parking lot while guarding the motorbike because I was afraid of another motorbike theft.
"You just wait here as usual. Later, just wait for me and the workers who usually help carry the goods," said my mother before walking into the market
My mother entered carrying a vegetable basket while I waited alone in the parking lot while scrolling through social media. The market was starting to get crowded. As usual, it looked crowded and noisy with sellers and buyers negotiating with each other. An old woman was clearly seen chatting while tying up some vegetables ordered by a buyer.
The streets looked crowded with motorbike riders and public transportation cars. The sound of vehicle horns, the sound of people calling each other, the sound of people offering their wares and offering services to transport goods filled the air in Singajaya market.
Because I was bored scrolling through social media, I started to stand up and walk back and forth looking around. When the road started to get congested, I saw an old man with a beard and mustache that had turned white, his back seemed hunched indicating that he was a hard-working old man. The old man was wearing a jacket and covering his head with a hat, his wrinkled face covered in sweat mixed with road dust. His pants had a small tear on the right thigh.
However, there was a sight that made me quite sad and shocked, in the cart he was pulling, a small child was seen sitting with goods that had been wrapped in cardboard. The child seemed to be his youngest child or only child or maybe his grandson.
The child was estimated to be around 7 years old. His body was fat and always looked cheerful with an Ultraman robot toy in his hand.
While I was busy looking at the child, there was a hard worker who had just finished carrying the goods of buyers who were walking in the middle of the traffic jam. He looked exhausted with his clothes covered in sweat mixed with flour residue from the sack he was carrying.
The man who worked carrying the goods of the seller or buyer walked right up to the little boy who was busy playing with the Ultraman robot doll and without further ado, secretly gave the boy some paper money. It was not clear how much money he gave.
But, to be honest, every time I see an event directly or just watch short video content on Facebook that contains the kindness of humans, my heart is always touched and I always feel that the world will always be enlightened by good, generous people.
"Maybe this is what my mother said, that in every part of the world there are some good and generous people but they are not famous on social media and not famous among humans," I said to myself
