Chapter 1: The Golden Child
On March 29, 1992, the happiest day of Lora's life arrived. Her mother gave birth to a baby boy—the first and only son in the family. Lora and her sister rushed to the hospital, eager to meet their little brother. When they entered the room, their mother lay smiling in bed beside a bucket of beautiful roses. Wrapped in a soft white blanket was the tiny baby with hair as bright as gold.
The family affectionately called him "Gold Hair." The moment Lora held him, she felt her heart overflow with love. She believed he was a special gift sent from heaven. His arrival brought joy not only to her and her sisters but also to their father, who had always hoped for a son. In their Albanian tradition, having a son carried great importance, and everyone celebrated his birth with pride.
When the baby finally came home, the house was filled with music, laughter, relatives, balloons, and gifts. Lora and her sisters decorated his room with care, making everything perfect for him. As she watched her little brother sleep peacefully in his crib, Lora felt happier than she had ever been before. She knew from that day forward that she would always protect and love him.
Chapter 2: Growing Up Together
The years passed quickly, and the little boy grew into a lively and adventurous child. Lora and her sisters adored him and rarely left him alone. They watched over him, played with him, and cherished every moment together.
Although he was younger, he was fearless and strong. He climbed trees, explored every corner of the neighborhood, and always found ways to make everyone laugh. Sometimes he got into trouble, but his mischievous smile made it impossible to stay angry with him.
As children, they shared countless memories. They invented games, built imaginary offices from blankets and boxes, and spent endless afternoons dreaming about the future. Even when they argued, their bond remained unbreakable.
Lora admired her brother's courage. While she often worried about the future, he seemed to embrace life without fear. He made everything look easy. Whenever she felt afraid, his presence made her feel safe.
But as they grew older, life became more complicated. They faced challenges that neither of them could fully understand. Slowly, Lora noticed changes in her brother. The sweet and open-hearted boy she had known began building walls around himself. He became stronger and tougher, but also quieter and more distant.
Deep down, Lora knew that beneath the hard exterior was still the same gentle little boy she had loved from the beginning.
Chapter 3: The Letter Never Sent
As adulthood arrived, the distance between Lora and her brother grew wider. He became a strong and independent man, respected by many, but he no longer shared his thoughts and feelings as freely as before.
Lora missed the closeness they once had. She often wondered what pain he carried inside and why he seemed determined to face everything alone. She wanted him to know that no matter how much time passed, he would always be her little brother.
Many nights she thought about writing to him. She wanted to tell him how proud she was of the man he had become. She wanted him to know that she understood his struggles and never judged him for the mistakes he made. Most of all, she wanted him to remember how deeply he was loved.
Eventually, she sat down and wrote a letter.
In it, she poured out every memory, every fear, and every hope she had carried for years. She reminded him of their childhood adventures, the joy he brought to their family, and the special place he would always hold in her heart. She begged him not to push away the people who loved him most.
She wrote:
"You are the greatest gift God ever gave to our family. We have loved you since the moment you entered our lives, and we will never stop loving you. No matter how old you become, you will always be our little brother."
When she finished, tears filled her eyes.
But she never sent the letter.
She feared that reaching out might push him even farther away. So she folded the pages carefully and kept them hidden, carrying her words silently in her heart.
Yet every day she continued to pray for him.
And although the letter remained unread, her love never faded.
Because some bonds are stronger than distance, stronger than silence, and stronger than time itself.
