Have you ever asked God for something and then watched the answer come in a way you never expected?
I had heard people talk about asking God for a birthday gift.
I would listen to their stories and think, Maybe I should try that one day.
Then my birthday week came.
This time, I decided to ask.
I didn't ask for money. I didn't ask for anything extravagant. I simply prayed and said,
“God, please give me a birthday gift.”
That was it.
I said my prayer and went about my days.
I wasn't expecting anything unusual.
At the time, there were two things I was quietly struggling with. My phone was no longer working properly, and my laptop had also started giving me problems.
I had been managing them as best as I could.
The phone would sometimes misbehave, while the laptop was becoming increasingly unreliable. I knew I needed replacements, but I wasn't making a big issue out of it.
Then my birthday came.
And something happened that caught me completely by surprise.
My phone was replaced.
Then my laptop was replaced too.
I remember thinking about the prayer I had made earlier that week.
“God, please give me a birthday gift.”
I smiled.
I had not specifically asked for a phone.
I had not specifically asked for a laptop.
I had simply asked God for a birthday gift.
And somehow, the answer came in the very places where I had a need.
To someone else, it might have looked like someone simply replacing two faulty devices.
But to me, the timing was special.
I had asked.
God had answered.
And that experience reminded me that sometimes we are so busy looking for big miracles that we overlook the small ones happening around us.
A miracle doesn't always have to be dramatic.
Sometimes it is an unexpected provision.
Sometimes it is help arriving at exactly the right moment.
Sometimes it is an ordinary event that becomes extraordinary because of the prayer that came before it.
For me, that birthday was different.
I had decided to ask God for a birthday gift.
And He gave me not just one replacement, but two.
A phone.
A laptop.
Two things I genuinely needed.
I may never be able to convince everyone that it was a miracle.
But I know what it meant to me.
It was a personal reminder that God hears even the simplest prayers.
And sometimes, when you ask Him for a gift, the answer may already be on its way.
Miracles still happen.
