The year is 2080, it's been 56 years since Shorty Don was arrested in 2024. You see there was a crime caught on camera, a robbery and murder that is. Shorty Don is the star of the crime. Of course he's innocent, even though you know. Shorty Don was a greedy man, he had to have it all. Money, power, women, nice cars and mansions. His bosses wouldn't give in to what he wanted; they wanted him to work for it like they did. That wasn't a solution for him, that was problem.
Shorty Don got his nickname by the neighborhood tough guys when he was 15 because well, he was short. He stood at 5' even. He was tough though. The "Boss" liked his style and stamina.
The kid was a people pleaser, especially when it came to the Mob. His father was second generation mobster. He didn't want that life for Don, he wanted better. He wanted his only son, only child to go to school and get good grades. He wanted him to go to college, he had money saved for him to go to an Ivy League School. His father was thinking more scientist or technology. Don was smart in those departments, the kid could build anything, fix anything. He was always watching shows on science and technology.
Fast forward to 2024 when Shorty met Deandra. She was gorgeous. She was rich. She wasn't interested in Don's advances. No matter how hard he tried, he got denied. That was a blow to his ego. He was good looking, but Deandra was out of his league. You see, "The Family" never flaunted the money, (that's a Big No) in their world. They lived upscale but not high society. Deandra, she flaunted it. She wanted people to know she had money. She's a CEO, with a Princeton and Yale education. She has a law degree. She liked to brag.
She thought Don would be bad for her image. A CEO with a law degree, dating a mobster?! Who ever heard of such a thing? He saw it as a good thing, a bonus. He could give her protection. She stayed friendly with him, occasionally "using" him. He didn't complain in that department. He took what he could get. She called him to come over, when he showed, she had a serious look on her face. She wanted to break things off. She felt that people were talking. This caused an argument. An argument that turned into murder. Don didn't know Deandra had micro cameras in her apartment.
He raised his voice to her, she hit him, and he hit back. She fell and he continued to hit her.
After realizing what he did, he staged it to look a robbery took place, then called the cops.
He told them the truth all the way to the point that he killed and robbed her. The cameras saw him come into the building, but they didn't see him leave. Nobody heard them argue because she lived in the Penthouse, and it had soundproofed walls.
They questioned him, asked the usual questions. They looked around, they found the camera room. The police didn't tell Don that. They asked him to come downtown, and he did. When presented with the proof, he continued to deny everything. It's like he listened to Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me." He called his lawyer; he watched the footage. He told Don to plead guilty to a lesser charge. Don complied, so he got 56 years. He would have gotten life had the Judge not been related to lawyer, who was recently divorced from Deandra.
