Sean was heading home after putting hours of work at his job and was feeling exhausted while scrambling to put the key in the keyhole.

" Welcome home babe" Rose, his girlfriend, greeted him upon entering their apartment as a small smile appeared on her face.

" I'm home babe" Sean's reply was half-hearted making Rose look at him weirdly. She stood up from her spot on the couch and approached him.

" Had a hard time today?" He nodded. Rose gave him a hug and that was all he needed to wash away the exhaustion he was feeling.

" Want to head out for a bit?" Rose always knew what he wanted to do making the man smile. He changed out of his business suit into more comfortable clothes while grabbing a hoodie for him and Rose. They head out to the park near their apartment building. They enjoyed the cold air and the peaceful atmosphere it gave off while holding hands.

" Hey babe" Rose called out breaking the silence between the two as Sean hummed in response

" You know how you promised we would go anywhere we want on my birthday?" 

" Of course I wouldn't forget about it" 

" Well can we head to Japan for a week? I've always wanted to visit there and eat all their food" They both chuckled as food was their love language with each other. Whenever they would go out it was mostly to restaurants serving food from other countries and imagining that they were at the country

" Sure babe anything for you" Sean pulled Rose into a hug and shared an intimate momeny catching her by surprise. They kissed for a good minute under the night sky as they back away and look each other lovingly before feeling each other's warmth in a hug

" I love you always you know that right?" Sean smiled hearing her say those word

" I love you too. I'm sorry for always working and not spending time that much" Rose shook her head looking straight to his eyes

" That's okay, I know you're working hard for the both of us. Just make it up to me with this trip okay?" Sean nodded as they continued with their walk before heading back to their apartment for the night

A day before their trip to Japan, Sean was having lunch with his team talking about the upcoming project that was given to them after finishing the latest one they were given

" I can't believe the boss is giving us work again after finishing the recent one" James complained stabbing his food with the fork

" Chill dude you're scaring the interns" Paul calmed James down after seeing the interns look with fear at James

" Sorry it's just frustrating having no time to watch anime. I haven't even finished the season and they're planning to make a new one" Sean and Paul just chuckled watching James in a dilemma as a co-worker approached their table

" Hey Sean boss wanted to see you in his office" His co-worker called to him

" Right now?" He nodded his head before heading to an open table to eat his lunch

" I wonder what the boss wants" Sean said getting up from the table but not before James grabbed his arm

" If it's about the upcoming project can you please tell him we need a break" James pleaded as Sean gently removed his hand

" I'll try James. Finish your lunch and get back to work" James smiled happily as Sean went to his boss's office. Knocking on the door, he heard a faint come in slowly opening it

" You wanted to see me boss?" 

" Ahh yes Sean please take a seat" Sean sat on the chair his boss pointed at as he fixed the papers scattering on the table and looked at Sean

" So I'll be straight with you. I want you to give the presentation tomorrow for the investors that are coming for this project" Sean was confused as he was given the project already

" But sir I thought the investors already approved for the project?" He questioned

" I know but they want the head of the team to give them the presentation just to be safe" Sean was now in a dilemma as tomorrow it would Rose's birthday and their scheduled flight in the afternoon

" But sir I have somewhere to go. We already paid for the flight tickets I can't cancel on that" Sean protested but his boss was stern on this

" We'll pay you for the flight tickets just go the day after tomorrow. We just need the investors to be impressed tomorrow" 

" But can't James or Paul do it? They've been here the longest behind me and are reliable with the project" 

" The higher ups wanted you to do it. If things go well they said they would promote after the presentation" 

" And if I refuse sir?" 

" Then the higher ups would fire you. I'm sorry Sean but they insist on having you do it. I've tried talking with them but they simply wouldn't budge" Sean was now disheartened as he was choosing between his girlfriend or his job

" I'll let you think about it. Give me your decision later tonight okay? You can go now" Sean could only nod getting up from his seat and heading to the door. He was now contemplating on how to break the news to Rose without having her heart broken

Night came by pretty quickly, as he enters their shared apartment

" You okay? You look a little down" Rose saw his frowny face when he entered

" Rose there's something I have to tell you" Rose gave a questioning look to him as they sat on the sofa facing each other

" The boss said that I would have to give a presentation tomorrow for the investors who are funding on the project that we would be working on" Rose knew where this was going as she clenches her fist and biting her lip

" But we would be going tomorrow already" Rose was on the verge of tearing up

" I know babe but can we move it to the day after tomorrow?" 

" You promised me Sean" She couldn't hold her tears back as they were now flowing on her cheek

" I know but we'll still be going" 

" Well it's not the same Sean!" Rose yelled while standing up. The caught Sean off guard as it's the first time in a while Rose has yelled at him

" Ever since you've been working, we rarely go on dates or eat out at night and when you arrive from work you just continue on with it or head straight to bed without even glancing at me. This is the one time I get to do what I want with you and you promised me Sean. You promised!" Sean stayed silent knowing full well she was telling the truth and he couldn't deny the facts she was spitting out

" I've been patient with you/ I've been understanding, caring. This is the only time I get to do what I want Sean and all of this for work?" 

" But Rose if I don't do the presentation they would fire me" Rose couldn't believe what she heard as it was too much for her to take in.  She walks past Sean bumping into him but he grabbed her arm

" Rose wait" Rose flicked her arm off of his accidentally hitting his face but she didn't care anymore

" Don't stop me. I'll be staying at my parents home for tonight.  I'll be going tomorrow with or without you so don't cancel the flight" She grabbed her shoes and keys heading out of the apartment leaving Sean all alone. Feeling frustrated, he flipped the table in front of him knocking down the vase on the floor and slumped down back to his seat with his hands covering his face

" What do I do?" He asked himself. It was a major decision for him, he would choose between his work or his girlfriend. In this situation what would you choose, Love or Wealth?
