Chapter 1 It was 5:55am in Los Angeles California. Mark Benson a mechanical engineer who had a muscular appearance of a 27 year old, recently graduated from the University of California was sleeping. A few minutes later when it was just about 6:00am, the alarm clock went off. Lucy Packer his girlfriend who was a medical student in her 20s was busy preparing breakfast in the kitchen and she wasn’t aware that her boy friend had spent all night practicing kungfu. She had awoken very early in the morning around 3:30am, and had had to go out in the street for her early morning work out. She had been doing this for a while, and was used to it. Now she was preparing breakfast and had wondered what her boyfriend was doing, and then she approached him in the living room with the breakfast that she had prepared. “Goodmorning babe. How are you doing this morning?” She said. “I am doing great. What about you?” He replied, She smiled. He picked up a cigarette pack that was on the table, brought out a stick of cigarette, and lit it. “What’s for breakfast honey?” “I have got some egg and sandwich for breakfast.” “What have you been doing this morning?” He added as he reached over, grasped her tender hand, and gave her a slow affectionate kiss, as if she was a new born baby. “You look sexy in that shorts. I think I should take a picture of you in it.” He said. Then, he grabbed the sandwich that was on the table. “I have got something to show you. Do you remember the excavator that I had been working on for the last five years?” “Yes.” She replied. “Guess what? It has been completed, and this is the picture. This machine has been designed to excavate the ground as fast as the speed of sound. This means that it has been programed to go 100ft deep per hour. That’s how fast it could go in just an hour.” “That’s a lot of speed. I knew you would come up with something that is fascinating. So, you have this incredible project completed. That’s great. That’s very great. My question is this. What in the world are you going to do with it?” She asked. “That’s a good question. This excavator is a tool that would uncover the ancient mystery of the earth. Since the beginning of the earth, scientists had wondered how to get beneath the earth, and had no clue what mechanical device could go thousands of miles beneath the earth surface. Apparently, in order for them to understand the earth, and how it functioned they had to understand what controlled the earth underneath. Now, this is where my invention kicks in. This pretty much solves the problem most scientists are facing. Now there is hope, and the earth’s mystery would be uncovered.” “That’s a brilliant idea; perhaps you would become the next great scientist of our time. So, what are you going to do next?” She responded. “My invention is already in the media. The United States Geographic Union had got interested in it, and had promised to offer me a hundred million dollars, just to have it tested for scientific projects. Isn’t that amazing?” He said as he grabbed the remaining sandwich from the table, crushed the bite out of it, and headed for the door. Chapter 2 The rain started pouring down just about 8:30am the same morning. The weather channel had just reported that there was going to be 50% chances of rain fall that day. Edward Stalker a renowned archaeologist who had worked for the United States Geographic Union for 20 years, and was currently employed as an associate professor in the University of California was driving to meet up a morning class. He was that kind of person who never took no for an answer. He was tall and heavily built, probably in his 40s. The kind of man that one could easily make friend with only to realize that he was not a true friend when he was needed the most. He had had his wife kicked out of his house a few months back probably because she was cheating on him. His 22 year old son Paul had never really felt the love of his father because he had been busy taking care of his own business, and had spent less time with him. Edward Stalker had pulled over to a coffee shop to fix himself a cup of coffee. He got out of his car, brought out his umbrella, and headed for the store. “Good morning Sir.” The shop attendant said. “How are you doing?” He replied. “Great.” The attendant said. “That’s good. Can I get a cup of coffee?” “Sure” He glanced at his watch like he had nothing to do that day, and a couple of minutes later; he had had his coffee brought to him with the balance that remained. “Sir are you Edward Stalker?” “yes.” “My name is David Rolland.” “Nice to meet you David.” “My 24 year old daughter is one of your students. She’s been talking about you up to the point that she had a lot of pictures of you in her collections. She told me that you have been preparing for a scientific presentation this summer.” David said. “What’s her name?” “Vanessa.” “yes. I think I knew her. She’s one of my outstanding students.” Stalker added. “She also said you specialized in archaeology and ancient discovery.” David said as he poured in more coffee. “She’s absolutely right. I am an archaeologist, and I studied ancient specimen, got a PHD in Geophysics about a couple of years back and I have been working for the United States Geographic Union for almost 20 Years. I was recently employed by the scientific research center of the University of California as an associate professor. I have a scientific presentation that I have been working on which would be exhibited this summer. It has to do with the formation of prehistorically rocks.” Stalker added as he swallowed the rest of the coffee with a gulp in a manner which seemed he had just remembered where he was supposed to be going that morning. “I almost forgot I am supposed to be in the class hall by 10:15am I have a class to take care of.” He brought out his business card, and handed it to David. “It’s been nice talking to you.” He said. “Nice talking to you sir.” David replied. Edward Stalker drove all the way to the campus where he would be instructing a group of students who had already gathered to hear him. “Good morning every one. My name is Edward Stalker. Today we are going to talk about volcanic eruption.” He said. He had spent a reasonable amount of time evaluating what to present, and how to make it understandable. Despite the fact he had his own personal issues to deal with. He had had to comport himself in a profound manner which made him looked like everything was alright on the inside. As a matter of fact, the ordeal was that he had been battling with the relationship that he had with his wife, and how in the world could a man concentrate when his going through an emotional crisis like that? As if to say that was not enough, he had had to deal with the issue that Paul his 22 year old son was nowhere to be found. In other words, a man in such a mental state as he was should be in the hospital not in the lecture hall, and upon the entire crisis that was transpiring in his private life, he still had the audacity to teach the students as if everything was alright. He continued lecturing his students until it was about time for him to round up, then the dismissal bell rang, and all the students dispersed leaving him alone in the hall like a pig waiting to be slaughtered. As he was about leaving the class room, he then met Jack Williams who had been one of the top officials in the Geographic Union. He was a tall chocolate skinned man with a deep baritone voice that could make someone fall in love with anything he ever said. He was a vibrant young man precisely in his 30s, and it seemed it was just the right time for him to discuss a very important subject. Stalker was one of the fortunate officials who became so relevant because of his specialty in fossil technology, and had had his ego taken full control of him. “ I got some good news for you. I think we have found what we have been searching for.” Jack said. At first, Stalker thought he was talking about the artifacts they were trying to identify a couple of weeks back, but as he paid more attention to the words which sounded from his mouth, he realized that he was talking about something different. He was talking about Mark Benson’s invention which was all over the media. If he could only get Mark introduced to Stalker, perhaps the both men could have something worked out. The Union was willing to offer $50, 000000 to anyone who could go as deep as 100,000ft underneath the earth surface, and collected some fossil specimens from there. As a matter of fact, Jack Williams understood how the collection of those specimens could impact their quest for geographical modification. Chapter 3 A couple of weeks had passed and it was 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. Lucy Packer’s younger brother Timmy was enjoying the nice and warm Long Beach Californian sunshine. He had been photographing since he was 15 years, and at the age of 21 he had had to work for a private company as a professional photographer. He had many clients which he served, and most of them had always admired his outstanding talent as a photographer. Timmy had a tall profoundly built athletic appearance which could drive female nuts, and make her want to be his girlfriend. He was holding a high powered camera, and was ready to take a picture of his client. Then, all of a sudden like someone had been monitoring his every move, and was waiting for the right moment to strike. His $2000 Samsung digital camera was snatched right there in a twinkle of an eye, and the whole scenarios happened as fast as a snake bite. “Hey give me back my camera!” He shouted. The thief had already disappeared before he attempted to pursue him. “I do apologize for the inconvenience. I am going to make a reschedule and your pictures should be ready by next week.” He said. He had to report his stolen property to the police for further investigation, and was wondering where in the world the mysterious bandit even came from in the first place. He then went into his car, turned on the ignition, and drove to his apartment. Later that evening, Timmy had already fixed himself a nice hot meal of hot dog for dinner, and was watching the television to get a glimpse of the evening news. At the back of his mind, he had remembered an incident which transpired when he was 18 that almost got him killed in a robbery scene, and could relate it with the bandit who made away with his camera. He was alone in his apartment, and he felt that the same nemesis still followed him around everywhere he went. At that point, something happened that caught his attention. It was Mark Benson’s new invention which was all over the evening news. He had met him 2 years ago when he started dating his sister Lucy, and he thought this might be the right time to get connected to him, and perhaps take his talent as a photographer to the next level. Mark Benson was in his garage trying to get his newly designed excavator cleaned up. He had almost spent all day servicing the engine, and putting the tires in place. Then, after he had worked on the carburetor, his front door bell rang. “How may I help you?” He said. “Are you Mark Benson?” Edward Stalker asked calmly. “Yeah” He answered. “My name is Edward Stalker. USGU official.” He added. “Nice to meet you please come in.” “I have been sent by the USGU to discuss about a vital subject regarding your invention. We are interested in your work, and we are willing to offer you $100, 000000 for the utilization of your tools.” Paul Stalker was chilling out with a couple of friends in his luxurious 3 bedroom apartment. He was that sort of person that always wanted things done in his way, which meant that he cared little about anyone, and had had his nonchalant attitude taken the very best of him. He was light skinned, a little bit tall, and had a smart shaped body that made most of the women admired him. The previous two years of his life hadn’t been a pleasant one because he had been battling with drugs and alcohol which had brought nothing but misery to him. He had made friends with the worst kind of people someone would want to associate with, and these people had been doing drugs even before he was born. He had borrowed $50,000 from them, and was unable to repay the money. James Danielson, the drug king who had been controlling the entire neighborhood with his violent influence as one of the notorious gangsters had come to remind him about the reimbursement which he was supposed to make by month end. He brought out his concealed automatic pistol, and pointed it at Paul. “Don’t mess with me boy. I want my money ready by next two weeks.” “Okay sir. Your money would be ready by that time, you have my word.” James smiled, and left with his men. Chapter 4 Edward Stalker’s wife Melding was preparing to go back home after she had been working night shift in a newly opened strip club, which was located somewhere in the streets of Los Angeles. She was a good looking woman with a charming voice, and probably the age of about 39. She ended up working as a waitress in a strip club after she was fired by her boss from her teaching job. Her husband had kicked her out of his house for not being faithful to him and for stealing his $12,000 wrist watch. She was left with no other option than working what would be considered as a menial job when compared with her previous job as a high school teacher. Melding was on her way home and was seductively dressed and walked as fast as a dog to avoid what she thought would be the dangers of the night, and while she was walking alone in the dark scary streets, something made her felt like she was being followed by an unknown person. She stopped to look around just to make sure nobody was trailing her and at that moment, a man appeared from the shadows and confronted her. “What do you have in that bag?” He said. “I have 200 dollar bills and my car key.” She replied scarily. “Please don’t shoot me take everything you want.” The bandit made away with her bag and she was left with just her car key. She had considered herself the luckiest woman to have survived a horrible situation like that. Chapter 5 Mark Benson was on his way to take care of his personal business. He was driving his 2013 Mercedes SLK and was doing a speed of about 120mph and had had his car radio volume escalated that even most of the people in oncoming cars could hear the sound vibration from his car. The cops had had him pulled over for over speeding, and reckless driving before, but it was as if he didn’t learn any lesson from his past encounter with them. He seemed very lucky because it looked like all the police on that route had gone on a vacation and he could use that opportunity to drive the way he wanted. He had arrived at a bank to cash out some money which he would use for most of his expenses and had no idea that Rocky Bill, a man who had walked for the media was there covering some news about the situation of the bank. “Can you tell us when your invention would be tested? What do you intend doing with your excavator?” He asked. “No comments” Benson replied as he walked all the way into the bank. Chapter 6 Lucy Packer had been preparing for a medical exam which she was going to take in about 3 weeks. She had not performed well in her last test and her grades hadn’t been what it was supposed to be. She knew she needed to work extra hard if she was ever going to make it to the next level, and her professor Dr Rag Davis had not lost confidence in her which was one of the things that had kept her persevering. “I think you are dissecting the wrong parts. You are going to need more practicing and you have to be more precise in a real surgical procedure.” He said. It was a bright beautiful morning in San Francisco. Benjamin Ross was slowly drinking his coffee and had lit up his cigarette just to make it correlate with his drink. He was pretty fat, and had the height of a basketball player and was at the age of probably 35 and had been married to Jenifer with supposedly two kids. He was busy reading the daily newspaper right there in his living room and it seemed that his wife had already gone out with the kids for the day’s activities. She had no idea that he had been working as a heat man and that most of his jobs usually came in the evening hours. He had told her that he was a technician and that he was only working part time especially at night time. As he was in his apartment alone reading the newspaper, he noticed a caption that was talking about Mark Benson’s newly designed excavator and was reminded about what he had claimed to be a betrayal that had transpired some time in his past. They had been friends as far back as his high school days and he had dreamt of designing the sophisticated excavator. He had claimed that Mark had his idea stolen from him when they were still in high school and that he was the one who possessed the exact blue print of the machine. The lawsuit which he had filed a couple of years back against him was dropped by the supreme court because of lack of evidence. Now that he was left with virtually nothing, the only way he could justify his feelings about him was to conspire against him by any means necessary. As he was still contemplating what his next motive would be like, his good old friend called Sylvester Macaw came looking for him. He had first met him when he was in the navy and he became close to him after Macaw saved his life in a very deadly battle field back in the war days. Sylvester was about the same age with him and it appeared that their age similarity was the only peculiar thing they had in common. Macaw had a pointed nose, radiating blue eyes and was that kind of person that always made people laugh even in their saddest moments. “Long time no see.” Sylvester said. “What’s up Sylvester? So good to see you.” Ross added. Chapter 7 Edward Stalker had scheduled to meet with Benson to have a discussion with him concerning his excavator which he had planned releasing to the United States Geographic Union for further testing, and as a top official in the union his main aim was for both of them to work together as a team and embark on the project, and this would have them sent 100,000ft underneath the face of the earth. He had taken the advantage of the fact that he was the only expert in the union who was qualified to handle the project, and had wanted to partake of it not for the interest of the union regarding scientific experimentation, but because of his own selfish interest. “I think it’s time for you to make a decision Mark. I think it’s time for us to come up with a plan.” Edward said. “The machine should be ready for testing in about 3 weeks, and then we would have to fix a date for the excavation.” Mark replied. Paul Stalker had finally got his mind made up that he was going to rob an expensive jewelry shop that he had hoped would be a possible solution to his financial situation and he believed that if he was able to sell some of those expensive stones he would definitely come up with the money he needed. He held a shotgun which had enough bullets in it and was accompanied by his friend called Jackie Teller who also had a shotgun. They had both stormed into the building, fired multiple shots into the air, and had had every single person lay down with their heads faced on the floor. They looted the entire jewelry that was worth about $100,000 and had made away with it. It wasn’t too long after their departure; the news about the robbery had been networked throughout the city and had had the police searching for the both of them. It could be told for sure that the LAPD was not the kind of police they would want to mess with, because they had come with everything they had got just to ensure that the two of them were brought down. Then, it was as if the two bandits had succeeded and had made away with their loots, but the cops would probably never give up on a search like that. They were arrested few days later, and taken to jail for further interrogation by the LAPD. Edward Stalker was ready for the presentation that he had been working on as far back as the time he was first employed by the University of California. The process had cost him a great deal of money and time, but he had considered the effort which he had put into the development of the project as a worthwhile achievement. It was the kind of exhibition that was needed to be seen by most of his students who had been seeking for scientific facts and he had wanted to actually demonstrate it in a computerized 3 dimensional fashion, so that his students would really understand the very science that was behind rock formation. He was in his office when his colleague from the Geographic Union called Brandy Peter came in “How is it going?” Brandy asked. “I have been expecting you since yesterday. I had wanted to notify you about the latest development on the project. A conclusion has been made, and the excavation is expected to commence by the first week of next month.” Edward replied. “That was so prompt of you to have already had it taken care of. I knew it must have been a challenge for you to have had him concur with our proposal.” Brandy said. “He didn’t really hesitate; I believed he knew that he needed to take a further step.” Edward answered. “So, where are we going to from here?” Brandy asked. “We have a very long journey ahead of us, the machine has been scheduled for testing and we have a great deal of work to do.” Edward said. Chapter 8 Timmy Packer was in a shopping mall somewhere in Los Angeles trying to purchase a couple of items that he had needed for his job and had been buying things from the shop for a while probably because of the discounts most people usually benefit when they purchase any item from there. As he was walking in the busy crowded corridors of the gigantic mall, hoping to find the exact products that he was searching for, what seemed to be an unusual circumstance occurred when a man who was wearing a hoodie jacket touched him, and had greeted him. To his amazement it was Mark Benson, a guy he had never anticipated seeing at that very moment and he had been shopping in the mall a little while ago and had had his hoodie on just to keep people from knowing who he was, since he was a well-known public figure who had invented the greatest sophisticated excavator. “Hey! Mark what brought you to this side of town today? You’re the last person I would have expected to see here, not with the level of your prominence.” Timmy said. “The deal is great and the time is right, I have got to pick up a couple of things.” Mark replied. “What’s up with your invention? You’re such a smart dude to have come up with an idea like that. So, you want to have it tested by next month, that’s pretty cool.” Timmy added. “We will start digging as soon as possible just after the testing.” Mark said. “How long is the mission going to take?” “It’s going to take a while probably about a couple of months, we would try and make it as fast as possible, and you would be coming with us Tim. I need you to take pictures of the entire event.” Mark responded. As for Timmy, it was like winning the lottery. What he had been dreaming about had eventually turned out to be a reality. He had finally had to take his own piece of the pie. Later that day, Timmy had gone to his sister’s apartment just for a little visit and to let her know about the progress that he had been making lately in his job. “Guess what? I met Mark a little while ago and I couldn’t believe he wanted me to have his project events covered.” He said. “That’s a good thing, at least now you would have the chance of doing what you had always loved.” She said. “How have you been doing with your tests?” He asked. “My last grades hadn’t been good enough to pass me to the next level. There’s still a lot of work to be done, everything depends on what the next semester would bring. As for now, I think I would definitely need to take a long vacation; I really need to have my business taken care of.” She answered. It was about 10:15pm in Los Angeles, and Benjamin Ross was on his way to take care of some business which he had already been assigned to deal with. He was on his 2013 black Cadillac escalade jeep, accelerating at a speed of 160mph, and was wearing a black leather jacket. He also had a shotgun that was fully loaded, and which could blast the hell out of a living soul. A little while later, when he had reached his appointed destination, he pulled over his car, and walked all the way to the very apartment which he had been informed to. He immediately brought out his shotgun, opened fire killing a man who seemed to have been watching the television with his wife and without wasting much time, he quickly got into his car, and drove away. The next day, he had got back to his apartment in Sanfrancisco, and was having a conversation with his wife who had been working for a food company as one of their executives. “The kids have gone to school a few minutes ago before you came in. Kaycee’s daughter is celebrating her birthday today and she invited me to her birthday party. Are you going with me?” She insisted. “Sure baby, you know I would go anywhere with you.” He responded. Chapter 9 Mark Benson was riding his bike home after a hard morning workout at a gym that was located in the major area in the streets of downtown Los Angeles. He was wearing his hoodie like shirt which he had to put on to keep the media away from him since he had always wanted to keep his privacy intact and eventually, he approached a corner, and noticed that something unusual was happing on the other side of the street, and then he presumed that it could be a bunch of hoodlums trying to rob a feeble young man. “Let the boy go. You don’t want to try anything stupid. I am going to kick your asses’ right here, right now.” He commanded. Then, he had to use his martial arts skills on them until there was nobody left to be fought. Chapter 10 The Geographic Union board members had gathered together for a brief discussion on ways to embark on the upcoming multimillion dollar project which would take about a few months to be completed. “The site has been inspected by our field experts in Kenya and we would have those tools shipped after the testing as soon as possible. Mark Benson has agreed to render his machine by next week and all the necessary arrangements for transportation have been made.” Brandy Peter outlined. Brandy was a short light skinned man in his 50s who was recently appointed as a board member probably because of his qualifications in the field of Geophysics. “Since the discovery of prehistorically remains like the dinosaurs, we have continued to improve the scientific method of approach toward fossil identification. According to our records, the depth of 20,000ft had been reached before in the search of ancient remains, but was aborted because of lack of mechanical tools. As you can all see on the projector, the mechanical device which was used in 1921.” Edward Stalker said warmly. “It states in those records that our discovery experts succeeded in collecting some samples from that depth which was proven to be the attributed factor that explained the geological processes of evolution.” Brandy added. “The ancient bones and skeletons were documented to be that of the prehistoric creatures that lived at that time, but what about the giant lizards and the dinosaurs? We still don’t have an explanation for their sudden extinction and our fossil collection showed that they died of suffocation and what aggravated the process in the first place is still a mystery.” Edward continued. Denzel Rock one of the youngest members who was just 33 had joined the conversation. He was dark skinned and was appointed as a supervisor by the Union. “How much time do we have to get the job done?” He asked with a smile. “We have about 8 months, but it should be faster if we encounter no fueling insufficiency.” Brandy replied. “I was also told that the device has the capacity to withstand the pressure from the earth crust.” Denzel said. “Yeah, it was designed to withstand heat and pressure at the depth of about 100,000ft and it takes only a genius to build a thing like that.” Brandy responded as he lit a cigarette. “If the machine can really move with that speed, then I think we should be out of there in no time.” Edward added. “The time factor does not really count in this expedition, the most important thing should be finding those specimens. We just have to find them.” Denzel said with a bright expression on his face. “We had received a phone call from the white house, the president wished to express his support and encouragement to our crew that would embark on the journey.” Brandy said excitedly. Chapter 11 It was on a Sunday morning, and Timmy Packer had gone home to visit his mom Veronica who lived not too far from the outskirts of California. She was level headed, tall, fair in complexion, and probably in her 50s. She was the religious type who loved attending church services usually every Sunday, always read the bible from page to page, and believed that the only way one could get to heaven was to accept God’s son. Obviously, for some reason Timmy was the very opposite of his mom in the sense that he never attended church services on Sundays, except Christmas day, and he never read the bible. It was so obvious that he was no different from an atheist who never believed in God, a couple of months ago he was even arguing with his friends about the fact that there was no heaven or hell, and he had it all twisted up that humans are nothing but a bunch of animals which had come to live on earth. He had been to the church service with his mom that morning, which seemed to him like that was the very first time he had ever been to church, and that all the sermon that was preached by the preacher was directly talking about him Then, now that he is back at home with his mom, he wondered what in the world would be his next step forward. His dad had been dead of cancer for 5 years and had left a huge chunk of money for his mom to continue from where he stopped. “Mom I have been trying to reach you by phone since last week, but for some reason you seem not to be answering my calls.” He said with the frown of disappointment on his face. “There was a problem with my land line a few weeks ago, but I had already complained to have it fixed by next week.” She replied. “I have been hearing of the news about the shooting and robbery that’s going on in your area, I just wanted to make sure you’re alright.” He continued. “That’s nice of you. I am not scared of those scumbags, the lords protection has always been with me son. I have nothing to be scared of and I have nothing to worry about. Now you tell me about yourself, and how you’ve been getting along at work.” She said as she held his hand. “I’ve been doing well. Do you know the dude that designed the highly advanced excavator which has been appearing all over the newspapers?” “You mean Mark Benson?” “Yes mom Mark Benson. I was fortunate enough and guess what mom? I got connected to him and he wanted me to have all his project events covered and that means more money for me mom.” “That’s so awesome son, that’s so awesome.” Chapter 12 The testing day had reached, and the Geographic Union had already made an arrangement to have Mark’s new mechanical device tested. Benson was about starting the main engine that would activate the device and set it in motion. “It’s going to take a few minutes for the engine to fully activate.” He said as he pushed the ignition button. “What’re these spinning discs for?” Denzel Rock asked. “They’re the actual metals that determine how fast or slow the digging blades can go. Those blades have been designed to operate by laser technology, and that means it can literally drill or devastate any obstacle that comes its way.” “Can this machine move as fast as the speed of sound?” Peter asked as he glanced at the engine. “Yes it was built with hyper combustion engine and hydrogen gas buster that could rapidly increase the speed efficiency which eventually makes the device move with the speed of sound.” Mark said. “What about the temperature regulator, how does it function?” Rock asked excitedly. “As you can see right here it functions by means of hydraulic fluid and pressurization.” The question kept coming from every single corner, and Mark was answering them in a profound manner that seemed he already knew what would be asked even before it was asked. It was time to prove his hard work which had almost taken his entire life time. A project that he started building when he was still a fresh man in college and had been wondering how his work would ever be applied in the modern world as a possible aid in ancient discovery. He had doubted at the initial stage whether his tools would obviously be the possible solution to the existing problems in fossil discovery, but a couple of years later, he concluded with a concrete assurance that his invention was indeed the long anticipated answer, after it had undergone series of experimentation and now that everything had worked out as he had planned, he couldn’t possible wait for the excavation to commence. Chapter 13 Edward Stalker knew he was the only expert in the entire crew that could obviously figure out and locate the actual direction where the ancient remains would be found in Kenya, but he would only be able to do it with the aid of an ancient map which contained a detailed description, and direction on how the sample might be discovered at extreme depth of about 100,000ft. The map was considered to be classified scientific information by the federal government, and was prohibited by law for any individual to have any form of access to it and Stalker knew that the only way he could gain access to the map was by having it stolen from the archives where it was kept. He had his colt 38 super caliber automatic pistol, and was wearing a black mask to make himself unknown. Then, he infiltrated a building in the middle of the night that was supposed to be a government establishment, shot and killed four security guards, and made away with the map. Chapter 14 The count down to one of the greatest historical moments had begun, and it was five days to the appointed date of the long awaited excavation. Mark Benson’s excavator had been shipped to Kenya by the Geographic Union not too long ago, and was expected to have arrived there. He and the other crew members were also expected to leave for Kenya probably in the next few days. It seemed like it was the last time he might had had the opportunity to spend time with his girlfriend, so he decided to take her out for a lunch at one of the classic Chinese restaurant, after a little while, they were done with the meal and had had to take a ride back home. “I want to go with you.” She said. “What did you say?” “I want to go to Kenya with you.” “Come on, you can’t be serious, I mean you have a medical exam coming up just in a couple of months.” He said. “What difference does it make? I dropped the class because I am not ready for the exam and I needed to take a vacation and right now, I have enough time to take care of my business.” “Alright, since you insisted, you‘re coming with me, and I hope it solves your problem.” He said. “Yeah babe it sure does.” She added. “I guess you realized that the mission is going to be a long tough one.” “I don’t care how tough or long it’s going to be, I just want to get away from this mess for a while.” She replied. All of a sudden, what seemed to be a drive by assault opened fire on them, and multiple bullets from an AK47 penetrated through the wind shield of the car, but luckily for them, they seemed to had escaped from a deadly physical assault. He wondered who it might had been that wanted him dead, and he had always known that the only possible rival who might had done that would had been no other one but Benjamin Ross who had always conspired against him from the very first time he started pursuing his dream. Mark was the smart kind of person, and he knew that it won’t take him long to figure out every information he needed to know about him. “Are you alright baby?” He asked as he held her in his arms. “Yes, what happened?” “We were attacked by some unknown drive by gun men. They’ve left. Are you sure you’re alright?” “Yes, I am okay.” She said. Chapter 15 Just about the next day, Mark Benson had already obtained enough information about Ross from the leads he had found in the spot where the shooting occurred, and he had had no doubt what so ever that the attack was from him. The proof that he found was his unique car hubcap which had fallen off when the shots were fired. He recalled when he first met him back in the days, and how they had played football together in high school, he was not the same guy that he used to know, the dude that he virtually did everything with, and the dude who he had always considered to be one of his best friends. A few hours later, He turned in Ross to the police for physical assault, and attempted murder charges. Chapter 16 The entire crew that included, Mark Benson, Edward Stalker, Timmy Packer and Lucy Packer had arrived in Kenya after a journey that lasted for about 15 hours. The time started ticking and all the crew were prepared for the great mission. The excavator was set in motion, moving with the speed that was believed to be the speed of sound, and it had to crush the rocks that slowed it down every single moment in the entire journey. “The temperature has increased to about 170°f and we should be in the depth of about 250ft.” Mark said as he pulled the speed gear. “I think the regulator has been activated because it feels cool in the inside than what it seemed outside.” Edward said glancing through the window. “Yes, the regulator balances the temperature of the whole device to prevent overheating. The lower we travel the hotter it becomes.” “What is the electromagnetic indicator for?” Lucy asked with a calm expression. “It’s what keeps us in the right track; it’s also there to warn us of any possible danger.” Mark replied. “Those rocks are so awesome. Is it okay if I take a picture of them?” Timmy asked as he brought out his camera. “Sure Tim you can take as much pictures as you want.” “What a brilliant technology. It feels like we’re in a spaceship. This is so amazing.” Edward added. Chapter 17 The sudden disappearance of the ancient map and the recent killing of the four security guards in the science records building were investigated by the FBI, not too long after the incidence had happened. The investigation had under gone series of DNA based tests and a possible lead that could indicate who it was that might had been responsible for the crime was found. The FBI director Solomon Anthony was trying to clarify an ambiguity from the DNA test results he had received from his computer, and was with his coworker Dory Hesston. Solomon was a tall dark skinned man with a lot of gray hairs which made him looked like he was in his 50s and Dory was heavily built with blue eyes that usually gave his face a serious expression and it looked like he was just about the same age with Solomon. Anthony was that kind of agent who would never give up on an investigation especially when it had to do with a very serious crime like the sudden disappearance of the ancient map, and the cold blooded killing of the four security guards in the science records building. He gulped down his coffee in a relieving way as he continued his conversation with Dory. “Let’s see if the masked face would match any of the faces in our records.” He said as he clicked on the computer mouse. “It looks like there was no match found by the computer.” Dory added with a calm expression. “But take a look at the DNA result. It shows that there should be some kind of match. Okay, let’s double check on it again and see what comes up.” Solomon continued. “I think something is about to pop up in one of the files in a few minutes. The search has been completed and a match was found. We have his information now. His name is Edward Stalker.” Dory said with a long look. “Edward Stalker the archaeologist? That’s unbelievable.” Solomon responded. Then, he paused for a while to make sure he was the actual suspect they had been searching for, and then after he had checked on the information a number of times, he landed to a conclusion. “Edward Stalker had gone on a mission to Kenya. We must keep this information confidential until the time of arrest. We can’t afford to put the entire crew at risk. We must wait until they return.” “Yeah, I think you’re right. We’ve to wait.” Chapter 18 The greatest journey that was made possible by the brilliant idea of Mark Benson had almost gone half way, as a matter of fact, the crew had reached the extreme depth of about 50,000ft and were surrounded with rocks. They were so hot up to the point that the only thing they could do to stay safe, was to shut down the engine of the excavator, and they even felt the heat from the rocks inside the ship. They had to wear their safety suits that protected them from burning. The temperature of the rocks which was still very far away from where they were was more than 9650°f. Enough heat that could obviously melt any object that was brought close to it. They had got out of the ship, and had adventurously headed toward the rocks, searching for the ancient remains and persisted for several weeks, and eventually got to the point where the search became so dangerous that they had to have it aborted. “Can you hear all that noise?” Mark asked with a scary expression. “Yes I can hear the noise. It sounds like a bunch of people under some kind of torment.” Timmy responded with a high tone voice. “This is incredible. How could all that noise be coming from the middle of nowhere.” Lucy added fearfully. “You know what? I think we’re close to hell.” Timmy said. “Come on dude, you’re just paranoid. Do you really believe in that crab? There’s no such thing as hell.” Edward said. “Yes there is, and I think we’re not too far from it.” Lucy replied. “Whatever it is that’s going on there, we don’t want to be a part of it. I think it’s time to quit.” Mark said. “We aren’t going anywhere until we find those ancient samples and that’s what this expedition is all about in the first place. We had come all these far and we can’t just quit now. It makes no sense.” Edward continued as he looked at the rocks. “We can’t make it out there alive if we must continue with this and you know that.” Mark said. “Think about the benefits, and how it would impact our world. We’ve got to find those samples.” Edward insisted. “I guess you’re going to find it all by yourself. As for us, we’d be on our way home.” Mark shouted angrily. “You aren’t going anywhere. Not without the samples.” Edward reacted as he pulled out an automatic pistol. “I am in charge here, and all of you are going to do exactly what I said. We’re all going to find those samples right now. Nobody has to die.” Then, a fight broke out not too long after the misunderstanding between him and the other crew had occurred, and Mark was shot in the right arm by Edward, and a little while later, Stalker was killed by an earthquake which erupted immediately as they tried to further the journey. The remaining crew had escaped from the devastating effects of the eruption, and had made it back home alive after a long tedious journey.
