It was just a normal Monday morning in Nashville for Julie. She started off her day just like any other day, she woke up and went to the toilet, then she went to the kitchen to make a cup of coffee and two slices of toast. After Julie finished her coffee and breakfast, she then went for a shower and got dressed for work. Julie got on the bus and made her journey to work, she worked in a pet shop and she absolutely loved every minute there. Two hours went by when the manager walked up to Julie and asked to have a word wit her.
''Julie can you come to my office''.
''Sure'' she replied.
''I'm afraid to inform you I have to cut your hours down'' the manager said.
''By how much? and have I done something wrong''? Julie asked.
''Not at all, actually you are one of my best workers, but unfortunately business is not doing well. I have managed to keep you on for 4 hours a day with weekends off which is much better then anyone one else here'' her manager told her.
A few weeks went by and Julie was starting to struggle financially. She phoned her parents to tell them what happened and to see if they could help in any way.
''Sorry darling we can't help, but I am sure something will come up soon. Have you thought about looking for another job''? her mum asked.
''I'm looking, like you said I'm sure something will happen soon, I better go and I will speak to you soon'' Julie replied.
The next few days Julie got up to start her day as always, but today was different. On her way to the bathroom she noticed a letter had been pushed under her door. She bent down and picked it up.
It read ''How would you like to win Pound 50,000? All you have to do is play a game and meet me at Fishbourne farm at 9am Saturday morning. You can bring with you one friend and one friend only and under NO circumstances tell anyone else.''
''What? Is this real''? she said to herself.
After Julie finished work, she was sat on her sofa re-reading the letter. If there was anyone she would take with her she knew who to call. Julie phoned her best friend Jessie and told her about her situation and also about the letter she received. Jessie was very optimistic about the letter, but knew if they could win this game together Julie could pay off her debt and still have money left over for herself and Jessie could drive to the location.
Saturday morning arrived and Julie was nervous, she also had doubts if this was real or if someone was playing a joke on her. With all the doubts she had, she knew one thing for sure that she wasn't going to be alone she had Jessie with her. 8am on the dot and Jessie beeped her horn to let Julie know she was there. Julie got her things together, got in the car and started their journey to the location.
The car journey was nice and smooth but the closer they were getting the nerves was kicking in even more. They pulled up to the location and the first thing they saw was a old looking barn, Julie and Jessie stepped out of the car, looked around but couldn't see anyone around, they took a few more steps towards the barn and as they got closer out of nowhere they a saw a man in a black cloak with a goat mask on.
''Which one of you is Julie''? he said with a deep voice.
''I ma Julie and this is my friend Jessie'' she replied with a nervousness in her voice.
''There is a few rules you must follow to complete this game and there is only one way in and one way out. Every room you enter you must complete to enter the next room, there will be instructions how to find the key and you must do exactly what the instructions say. Your friend can help you, these rooms will test you to your limit only the strong have completed it. When you enter keep in mind how much you want that Pound 50,000 and what you will do to win'' he told her
Even with hesitation on their mind they decided to go through with it. He opened the barn door, let them in then locked it behind them. When Julie and Jessie entered inside the barn it was not what they expected, it was like they entered another universe. Inside the barn was a long dark hallway with very dim lights, they walked up the hallway to the first door. When they reached the door there was a note that said do not open till your inside.
As they walked in the door slammed shut, and it made them jump. All of a sudden a voice came through the speakers that was in the corners of the room.
''Julie read the instructions on the note and do exactly what it tells you to do'' he said.
Julie opened up the note and it said '' Search every box for a key, in every box there will be something in there you must check thoroughly if you refuse there will be consequences''
The lights were red and went brighter, and what they saw would shock them. There was bones hanging from the ceiling, some of them still had bits of flesh on the bones.
''What is this? Are these human or animal bones?'' Jessie asked
''I don't know lets just find this key and get out of this room'' replied Julie
They pulled the first box out and inside was full of human teeth, they looked to be adult and children teeth.
''What the hell'' screamed Julie
Julie and jessie looked at each other in despair. It was only teeth they thought and continued to look through the boxes. The fifth box in was a box of children's skulls, this was when they started panicking and knew this wasn't right, in this box was where they found a brass key. They picked it up put it in the lock and opened the next door.
Door number two also had a note on and again the door slammed shut as they entered and the note read, ''You must cut open the bodies to find the right key to move forward.''
''Bodies, what bodies'' said Jessie
As Jessie said that the lights got brighter. There was blood all over the floor, the tables and ceiling, and hanging from the ceiling was fresh and old bodies. The fresh bodies all had there throats cut.
''I'm done let me out'' screamed Jessie
A voice came through the speakers again '' There is only one out if you still refuse there will be a consequence''
''Fine I will have the consequence'' Jessie Shouted
All of a sudden the lights went out and Jessie screamed out in pain, when the lights turned back on Jessie was on the floor. Julie went over to her and her hand was missing.
''Now start splitting open the bodies to find the key'' he said
Now knowing they made a mistake Julie and Jessie started arguing, blaming each other. They wanted to get this over and done with and Jessie needed help, even though Julie managed to find some old rags to stop the bleeding, she was still using loads of blood. Julie grabbed a knife and picked one body to split down the middle, because that's where he hid the key. The first body had a silver key, Julie went to the lock put the key in but it didn't fit.
''You need to find a gold key'' the man said
So she started cutting open more bodies but all she found was silver and bronze keys, it felt like they was in the room for hours but they was only in their for twenty minutes and only six bodies left. She looked at the bodies and one specific body stood out to her, she noticed something very familiar, she got closer and the she let out a scream, the body she saw was her manager, Julie pulled herself together and knew the gold key must be in there, so she cut her manager's dead body open and there was the gold key, she rushed over and unlocked the door.
Door number 3 was filled with dolls. Some of the dolls were missing eyes, some missing legs and arms. This room was different there was no instructions she had to figure it out her self. Jessie was getting weaker and weaker if Julie didn't hurry up her friend would die. She checked and pulled apart all the dolls but there was no key.
''Where is the key''? Julie shouted
''Its closer then you think, how much do your friend mean to you''? The man said
''What do you mean''?
''She is going to die anyway, maybe I put the key in her arm, when I chopped her hand off'' He said while laughing
''Just do it'' Jessie said
''I'm not going to kill you, your my best friend''?
''I'm going to die anyway, please put me out my misery'' Jessie replied
With so much hesitation Julie killed her friend and found the key. She quickly unlocked the door and entered the last room where she fell to her knees and started crying and screaming. When she entered the last room the only thing in there was a table and two chairs and the room was really bright. On the table was a gun, and the man in the black cloak and goats mask was sat down.
''Julie well done for getting this far. Come and take a seat we need to talk'' he said
''Your fucking crazy, tell me who you are, take that mask off and be a man and show me your face'' She said angrily.''
''Come and sit down and I will reveal all'' he said calmly.
So she walked over to the table and pulled the chair out and sat down. They was facing each other, his hands slowly reaching at the mask, he slowly pulls it off and when he looks up Julie is speechless, she knows the man, its her dad. It turns out her dad has been doing this for years. He went on to explain that he did this all to find the strongest and fittest of people who could carry on after he dies.
''What is wrong with you dad? Do mum know you have been doing this? You killed my friend and manager from work? she said.
''Your mother don't know, I was to in your situation and I also went through what you just gone through. Yes I killed you manager but you killed your friend'' he replied.
He tried to convince his daughter to take over from him and she could earn a lot of money from this. But she refused and she got up from the table to run to the door. He ran after her and grabbed her arm, pulled her to the floor and started kicking her and then he lent over her and started stabbing her, is own daughter. He typed a letter and sent to his wife, making it out to be sent from Julie the letter read: ''Dear mum and dad me and Jessie is going on a road trip, we don't know how long we will be away for, Love Julie.''
No one ever knew what happened to Julie and Jessie, her dad got away with the murders and he also kept up with sending random letters to people who he knew were in debt and struggling financially hoping to find someone to carry on after he is no longer alive.
