Chapter 1: The Tempest Within
The horizon pulsed with malevolence. A monstrous tempest raged, a stinking black broth of cloud, lashed the heavens. Lightning rent the air asunder, bolt upon bolt a savage word of purpose, destruction in its wake. It was an elemental tempest of fury, uncontrolled fury loosed into the universe.
And before us, the rumble of a motorcycle, a defiant splash on the rushing black. Mictly, his driver, was a man hewn from desolation. His pain-twisted face, a creased terrain of wrinkles, a relief map of the cyclone in him, a tempest to equal the one consuming the sky. He wrestled with handlebars, pushing the machine to its limits, the engine screaming in torment.
He has to go. He has to find them.
Rina and his daughters. The though was a lifeline, a candle flame in darkness threatening to overwhelm him. A thousand horrifying possibilities in his mind, each one a sliver of glass twisting in his gut. He shook his head violently, trying to flee the visions that haunted him.
"No," he growled, the wind whisking away the words from his mouth. "Rina and the kids are strong. They're smart. They've learned with me all these years. They know how to use whatever is around them to fight. The only outcome is for them to be safe. That's what I must believe...".
He hadn't finished the though when he reached to his destination - the ridge on top of a mountain that pierce the sky like a broken tooth. He slammed the breaks, the motorcycle skidding to a halt, a metallic screech echoing in the rising wind. He dismounted and walked to the edge of the ridge, his boots crunching on loose gravel.
Out there on the plain like a cancer spreading lay Pagan City.
Pagan city was a refuge, a stronghold which had been re-built as a city after the devastating wars. The promise of security and peace had drawn people from the shattered corners of the world. The mountain itself formed a natural barrier in the back, and walls of immense proportions had been constructed to keep it safe. The city spread outward, boiling over with refugees, and spilled over the first walls. Fresh walls were constructed to stem the onrushing mass, the process being again repeated in a spiral still expanding.
From his vantage point, Pagan city resemble the rings with a felled tree, each one a testimony to the city's relentless growth, a testament to its promise of sanctuary. Yet, the promise was a lie.
The rumors of safety and peace had indeed spread far and wide, attracting not only the vulnerable and hopeful but also the predators, the opportunist and the ruthless. Pagan City had become a place where strength was the only currency, a city in which only the powerful mattered, a city in which the powerful preyed upon the weak. At each successive "ring" the city was more dangerous than the last, a descent into a moral abyss. And there in the heart of all, nested within the innermost ring, stood the Demon Souls' last refuge, Ragnar's hideout.
Behind him the wind bellowed, a desolate emptiness that spoke the hollowness in his own heart. But the storm could not abate, clouds churning, frothing, dashed to a place he knew very well. As if heaven itself wept over the shadows that had come over Pagan City.
Far away in Mictly's mind, the deep shreds of doubt were annihilated. He would break down walls, he would break down chains, he would battle the darkness itself. He would save his family, unbroken and intact, if that was all that was important.
The time for reckoning had begun. The attack would reach their doorstep soon, and he would now finally finish the task initiated so many years ago.
Chapter 2: Shackled Promises
The stench of rot and fear clung to Rina like the handcuffs that bond her. Shameful iron cuffs encircled her wrists and ankles. Blunt, heavy rope filled in the back of her neck tied her to her daughters, a constant reminder of their shared captivity. Atzi, the eldest, was a stoic shield for Xoco, the youngest, to whose sobs, echoed in suffocating silence. Tozi gazed forward, her expression a mask of stern resolve.
Around them, the Demon Souls clones moved with the unsettling precision of automatons, their vacant eyes reflecting the hopeless that threatened to engulf Rina and her daughters. There was no escape. Just the relentless march from everything she held dear.
She glanced back to her house. Her house. A place now tainted with blood and horror. Memories flickered, - love, laughter, Mictly's suffocating hugs. A lifetime condensed into brief flashes and became hazier with every step forward.
And then she saw him. Mictly. Hanging from the pole in front of the house, arms and legs stretched out to the sides, head lolled to the side. He was barely breathing. The image tore her apart within, a raw, gut-twisting agony that would kill her or make her mad.
But then, the wind shifted. A cold gust whipped through the air, carrying the scent of ozone and distant rain. Rina looked up. Black clouds, bruised and heavy, were gathering on the horizon, rolling towards them with an unnatural speed. Lightning flickering within the depths, painting the landscape in stark, fleeting strokes.
A mischievous smile, a flicker of defiance in the face of despair, touched Rina's lips?
She knew?
The last moments with Mictly replayed in her mind with agonizing clarity. Ragnar's face, bestial, contorted with sadistic pleasure, had force her to watch her husband's torture. The brutal sounds, the sickening thud of bone against flesh, the muffled cries of agony?
But above the pain, she remembered Mictly's words, his promise whispered with ragged breath: "Nothing will stop me? I will find you? I will save you? Just remember the training be smart? be strong? and be patient."
That promise, more than anything, fueled the simmering rage within her. For the first time, she understood the depth of Mictly's hatred for the Demon souls. They had taken everything. But she knew what Mictly needed from her right now. She needed to be strong, to be patience, until Mictly could fulfill his promise.
Chapter 3: Ashes and Promises
Hours crawled by, measured in the chafing of the shackles and burning thirst in their throats. Finally, they stopped. The guards, eyes empty and unrelenting, and tossed them stale bread and brackish water. They ate in silence.
Rina's closed her eyes and she recalled Mictly's strength, his unwavering will. She saw the pain etched on his face during the torture, his anger at his helplessness, his desperation to protect her and their daughters. But above all she saw the unwavering love in his eyes
"I will find you," that was his promise. A single promise was a lifeline.
A smile, devoid of sweetness, touched Rina's lips. It was a smile etched with promise - a promise of retribution, of vengeance of a storm to come.
She pulled Atzi closer, as she comforted the crying Xoco. She embraced Tozi, and then beckoned the other two to join the embrace.
"Remember what Daddy told us?" she whispered, her voice low and fierce. "He trained us to be smart, to be strong and patient. We must learn and use everything we have to defeat our enemies?"
Xoco stopped crying. "But Daddy?
Rina looked at her, her own heart heavy with sorrow. She took her face in her hands, brushing away the tears from her cheeks. "My little baby, your daddy is too strong and too stubborn, to be stop by something as small as this. He'll come back to us, and when he does, you will see your daddy for what he is? a force of nature."
She smiled, her real smile finally, her hope and courage smile. "Let us heal our bruises, try to rest, and sleep. We must be prepared?"
Chapter 4: Pagan City
The sun had barely begun to paint the sky with the first stokes of dawn when a guard's harsh yell snapped them awake. Another guard raised his boot, aiming to kick Atzi's leg. Rina reacted, shoving him back with unexpected force.
Her eyes, burned with fury, her face a mask of righteous anger. The guard stepped back, cursing. "Time to move?"
They got up, stiff and sore, and continued walking. The hours passed, the landscape blurring into a monotonous grey. Finally, they arrived.
Pagan City.
Rina knew this place well. She had been sold into slavery by her own family, spending years in the dungeons beneath its festering streets.
They stopped before a massive, iron-bound door, which creaked open with a groan. A wave of fetid air, thick with a stench of decay, poured out, engulfing them. Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco wrapped their noses and mouths with their arms to protect themselves from the overwhelming stench.
As they were marching through the city, the inhabitants emerged from the shadows, drawn by the sight of the chained women. As they move deeper into the labyrinthine streets, the jeers and taunts of the crowd grew louder, more vicious. Trash rained down upon them - rotting vegetables, animal carcasses, filth of every kind.
"Welcome to Pagan City!..." someone yelled, his tone thick with evil glee. "This is your last stop!..."
Doors led into doors and shut behind them, shoving them further into the black slum of the city. The insults were being supplemented more and more with an evil silence. But the smell of dry and wet blood grew stronger, clinging to the air like a shroud.
Rina could feel the change in the atmosphere. The fear in the eyes of the onlookers had transformed into something more dangerous - a predatory hunger, a cold and calculating intent. They knew, with a chilling certainty, that any of these men could kill them on a whim, for their own twisted amusement.
They had at last arrived at the final door, a huge metal door at the foot of the huge mountain towering over the city. It groaned and opened, and before them stood Ragnar his eyes burning, his face stretched into a grotesque smile.
"Home at last, healers!..." he spat, his voice dripping with malice. He waved the guards who were closing in on them. "Take them to the deepest part of the dungeons. They need to be reminded who is the boss here..."
A booming, inhuman laugh erupted from his chest. Rina stared at him, her eyes burning with unadulterated rage. Ragnar glanced at her, and a flash of fear crossed his face.
His voice trembled. "Stop staring at me like that. Take them away!"
Rina approached the dungeon door; her daughters close behind. And then they just stopped. They turned in unison to face Ragnar. Rina's voice was cold and calm, cut through the silence.
"Ragnar? get ready!"
Ragnar was confused. "What do you mean?..."
Rina's smile stretched out so wide, a chillingly beautiful expression which sent a shiver sliding down Ragnar's spine. "That is for me to know, and for you to find out..." She raised her hand, pointing to the sky. "Soon?" she said, her voice shuddering in an unnatural, otherworldly power, "a storm like no other will come?"
Ragnar's face contorted, pure terror flooding his features. He remembered something; a fragment from a long-forgotten nightmare. A baby crying amidst fields of full of corpses. The wrath of a storm, tearing the earth asunder. He clapped his hands over his face, his body shaking. "He is dead?" he stammered, repeating the words like a desperate mantra; "He is dead?"
But Rina knew, with unwavering certainty, that Mictly was far from dead. The storm was coming; and Ragnar would be learning the true meaning of fear.
Chapter 5: The Gathering Storm
Mictly stood on the top of the jagged peak, the winds toying at his ragged leather jacket. Pagan lying at his feet, glinting like some corruption of a jewel, unaware of the storm brewing above. He knew that the news of Tarum and Elias's downfall would reach them soon, and Ragnar, with his arrogance and cruelty, would be next.
There was no margin for error. He must go in fast and be precise. A swift devastating strike, before Ragnar could mobilize his defenses. Failure meant the perpetuation of the nightmare that fueled his rage but a difficult escape for his family.
His closed his eyes, wind a soft caress, and his mind flashed on the faces of his kidnapped loved ones. Rina, his wife, with her fierce spirit and infinite love; Atzi, the eldest among them, wise beyond her years; Tozi, with a gentle heart but surprisingly brave; and Xoco, the youngest among them all, a storm of laughter and unbroken optimism. He saw them as they were taken, shackled and dragged away like animals.
His fists clenched; his knuckles white as bones. A promise, chiseled out of tears and blood, a promise that reverberated in his head. A promise of revenge, to break the bars of their cage and bring them home.
He remembered Rina's radiant smile, the warmth of her hand in his. He heard the joyous shrieks of his daughters as they chased butterflies in the meadow. He felt the weight of their bodies pressed against him, their kisses soothing his pain-tortured heart.
As the sky turned from dark to black darkness, lightning glowed on the horizon, lighting his indomitable resolve. The storm raging outside was no different from the tempest raging inside him. His vow to them was as indomitable and obstinate as the storm raging outside. He was not going to fail.
Chapter 6: Descent into Darkness
Pagan's dungeons were a hole in the ground, an empty pit of darkness with no hope and where despair was nurtured. Cells on the edge of the open pit, unsheltered from the elements, placed the prisoners in full view of their oppressors on the surface. One way in, one way out.
Rina took her daughters deeper and deeper into the labyrinthine depts, the metal doors slamming shut behind them with a sickening finality. Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco followed their mother, their eyes scanning the shadows, their bodies coiled with apprehension.
Finally, they reached the deepest part of the dungeon, a stone chamber reeking of decay and suffering. One of the guards there smiled at them. "Fresh meat in! Be nice, and have fun?"
Rina's eyes cold and hard as a flint, met his. A chilling smile played on her lips. "We will?" she whispered, her voice a low and dangerous purr. The guard's smile went away in a second, cold sweat ran through his face, he backed away slowly keeping his eyes on them, closing the door behind them.
From the shadows came a group of men, their faces contorted with grotesque smiles and predatory hunger. Their eyes devoured the woman, assessing their strength, anticipating their fear.
Rina's face hardened; her voice ringing with authority. "Get ready. Remember what dad taught you. Break them down?"
Her daughters' faces change from fear to fierce; they lift their hands clenching their fists and they nodded with military determination. "Yes, Mother!!?" their voices filled with rage, getting ready for a fight.
Chapter 7: The Dance of Shadows
The men came forward, a wave of brutish force fueled by greed and the desire to kill. Rina and her daughters came forward as a unit, a whirlwind of controlled power.
The first wave was knocked down by a torrent of kicks and punches that fell upon them. Precise heel kicks shattered bones. A swift punch to the temple rendered them unconscious. Within seconds, the attackers were on the ground, their bodies twisted into unnatural shapes, their cries echoing on the walls of the underground chamber.
Then the second wave rolled in, larger, more powerful than the first. The battle raged on longer, harder. The savage pounding wore them down. They fought through the wet beat, muscles screaming in protest, their lungs burning.
Rina could sense they were fatiguing. She felt the pain throbbing in her muscles, taste the cooper tang of blood in her mouth. But she also knew they couldn't afford to falter.
Four men stepped out of the darkness. These were different. Larger, more imposing, their bodies reconfigured with cybernetics, making them less human, more machine.
"We're the owners here, this is our kingdom?" the biggest of them snarled, with a cruel rasp in his voice. "So, now you are our property. But looks like we'll have to teach you the rules first..." He wetted his lips, his eyes shining with anticipation.
Rina laughed, a defiant sound that echoed though the dungeon. She uncovered her teeth in eagerness. "Bring on the worst."
The cybernetic enhanced men advanced, a wall of meat and machine. Rina and her daughters repelled them with bestial ferocity, but their strength was waning. Their strikes lacked the precision and power to effectively disable their attackers.
The men seize them, their grip like iron. Rina found herself pinned against the cold stone wall; her arms held captive. Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco were similar restrained, their struggles futile.
Rina's closing her eyes a wave of despair creep in. "Too tired... too much pain... I am sorry, Mictly... I have failed."
Just as she succumbed to the crush weight of defeat, a barrage of tiny, sharp objects flew from the darkness. "Needles??" she tough. They pierced the throats of her attacker, he instant ly collapsed, his body twitching in agony.
Rina, stunned, stumbled back, trying to comprehend what had happened. She needed to move and rescue her daughters.
Tozi's, arms were pinned to the ground, she was to be smashed in the face with a jagged rock. A tiny rock, seemingly out of nowhere, struck the ceiling above and knocked off a stalactite which fell down and impaled her attacker through the neck.
Xoco, struggling to escape, was caught in a chokehold. Rina, couldn't move, watched with terror in her eyes. Two arms emerged out of the darkness behind the man and waved around the man's neck. A grody crack and the man's body hit the ground, dead.
Desperate, Rina looked for Atzi, who was pinned down by the grasp of the biggest of the men cybernetically enhanced. His robotic arm was raised high, his fist clenched, ready to strike.
"Tozi! Xoco! Help Atzi!..." Rina screamed, but before they could move, a long piece of wood, seemingly materializing from thin air slammed the base of the man's skull, leaving him motionless.
Tozi and Xoco helped Atzi to her feet, then they rejoined their mother, their eyes staring in confusion.
Chapter 8: Travelers from the West
Three men emerged from the shadows, their appearances as battered and broken as their spirits. The in front, leaning heavily on a makeshift wooden crutch, limped forward. The man behind cradled his arm, which was tightly wrapped. The third man was covered in bandages, staining his chest red.
Rina relied on her acute senses to gauge them. They were hurt, nothing life-threatening, but serious enough to render them significantly weaker.
The men approached cautiously; their hands raised in a gesture of peace. "I am Kaito?" the limping man said, his voice was hoarse. "These are my brothers, Kagami and Kohya. We don't want any trouble, we are travelers from the west, we were ambushed by the Demon Souls and thrown into this hellhole?"
Kaito's words were cut short mas Kagumi clutched his chest and collapsed to his knees. In a split second, Tozi was by his side, cradling him in her arms. She leaned close to his ear and whispered something. A gentle smile touched Kagami's lips as he closed his eyes.
Kaito and Kohya rushed to his side, but Tozi met them with eyes blazing with a protective aura. "He is okay?" she told them, with a commanding voice. "He just fell asleep. I 'll make sure he is fine..."
They hesitated, then stepped back. Atzi was suddenly besides Kaito and Xoco was holding Kohya's hand. The girls helped them to sit, peppering them with questions about their journey, their lives, anything to distract them from the grim reality of their surroundings.
Rina watched, a mischievous smiles playing in her lips. "I am so glad they are like me..." she thought, remembering the time that she met Mictly for the first time. She knew instantly, in the depths of her soul, that he would the only one for her.
Chapter 9: Whispers of Hope
Night fell swiftly, shrouding the dungeon in an even deeper darkness. They build a small fire, sharing the meager rations they managed to salvage. Rina listened to the laughter and the stories exchanged between her daughters and the travelers, a flicker of warmth igniting in her heart.
"How would Mictly react in this situation?" Rina thought. "Looking at his babies, flirting with those guys?" She started laughing, a sudden incontrollable burst of mirth. When she realized everybody was looking at her, she composed herself. "Don't worry about me?" she said, still teasing. "But it's getting late, we really have to get some sleep. Tomorrow we need to sit down and have a conversation..."
She laid down, hugged herself, tears stinging her eyes and softly said, "Mictly, I wish you were here..."
Her daughter laid down behind her, she heard her daughters giggling and whispering, their voices filled with innocent amusement of youth. They were talking about Kaito, Kagami, and Kohya, their new guardians, her friends.
"I'm so glad you're like me..." Rina though, a smiled gracing her lips. She closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep, Mictly's face imprinted in her mind, encouraging new hope within her.
On the mountain, Mictly felt a shift in the wind, a subtle change that resonated deep within his soul. He didn't know exactly what was happening, but he knew his family was alive, and their fight has just begun. The storm was gathering, both outside and within, and he would unleash its fury upon Pagan city with unwavering resolve. The walls would fall and he would bring them home.
Chapter 10: The Predator on the Mountain.
The wind whipped around Mictly, tearing at his worn leather jacket as he stood on top of the mountain, his gaze fixed on Pagan city. It sprawled below, a festering wound on the land scape, a monument to the Demon Souls, the people that torn his life apart. Once more, he became the predator, a specter who haunted his city walls, memorizing the guards' routines, searching for a vulnerable spot. He waited in silence, for the moment of weakness that would allow him to strike with deadly accuracy.
Achoo. Achoo. Achoo.
Mictly swore. Three times in a quick succession. He rubbed his nose, irritated. "Rina always say when you sneeze three times someone is thinking about you?" He fell silent, his gaze softening as her face swam into his memory. "Wait a little longer, my love. I will get you and our babies back to safe. No one will be able to stop me." He clenched his fists, the promise a steel band around his heart.
He gazed at his own body, at the pale scars across his chest and arms, a reminder of his brutal encounters with Tarum, Elias and of course Ragnar. The wounds, though closing, still throbbed with dull ache. He had been foolish, reckless, driven by raw emotion. He couldn't afford that mistake again.
"Mictly, you fought foolishly," he muttered, his voice low growl swallowed by the wind. "You forgot?" grabbing his face; "You forgot the rules of a fight. You rushed like an idiot and got hurt badly. That is why they are waiting so long for you... But this time? This time will be different? This time, I will not repeat the same mistake. Protect Rina and the children is my only priority. I need to make sure that this time, the Demon Souls are done forever..."
He closed his eyes, grounding himself in the present. He focused on the world around him, on the biting cold wind, on the feel of the rough stone under his feet. Then he sensed it - a storm building up behind him, a dark, shadowy clouds accumulating on the distant fringes of the horizon.
It felt like if the storm was waiting for him to get ready before unleashing its fury upon Pagan City. Mictly stretched his mind, reaching out to the feral wildness of the storm. He could sense the chaotic dance of energy, the electric hum of anticipation. He became one with the tempest, feeling the lighting' jagged kiss on his skin, the thunder's bone-shaking roar coursing through his veins, storing it's energy in his muscles.
He could sense the wounds on his body healing, the pain receding as the storm's vital force flowed through him. A surge of power, wild and untamed, filled him with an almost unbearable energy. He opened his eyes and smiled; the storm reflected in the depths of his eyes.
"Wait for me?" he whispered; his voice barely audible above the wind's howl. "I will be there soon..."
Chapter 11: Shadows in the Depths
The clanging of metal echoed through the dungeons, announcing the guards' arrival. They tossed several loaves of bread and battered canteens of rust, and moldy water, through the bars, their faces hardened with indifference.
"No food, for the women and no fights?" one of the guards grunted, his voice thick and distain. "There is enough food for everybody?"
The guards departed, their heavy boost fading into the distance. Silence descended one more, thick and heave like the dungeon's suffocating air. Three men step out of the darkness, dirty, ragged clothes. They carefully gathered the food and water. They exchange weary smiles as the guards' footsteps disappeared completely.
A minute passed, and they sat down to dine at a flimsy table constructed from broken crates, sharing bread and drinking stale water with the women. They spoke in low tones, sharing stories of their past.
After they finished eating Rina stood up. Her voice was gentle but carrying an undeniable authority. "Atzi, Tozi, Xoco, came back here?" Her three daughters wearing in identical braids and large eyes nodded in unison, moved quickly behind their mother.
Rina turned to the men, her gaze sharp and assessing. "I think now is a good time to make some formal introductions, don't you?" Her eyes narrowed, a hint of steel glinting within their depths. "My name is Rina. These are my daughters, Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco. You said that you are travelers. But I think there is more to that story?"
The three men looked at each another, a silent conversation passing between them. Kaito rose to his feet, his face shifting from weary amusement to a focused calm and hard determination. His dark, fiery eyes, usually bright with warmth, now held a sharp analytical glint. His raven-black locks, usually loose, now were fixed in a bun on top of his head.
"Rina sama?" he said, his voice measured and respectful. "We would love to help you, but as you can see, we are hurt. We cannot fight effectively. We would be more of a burden to you and your daughters than help?"
Rina's smile was slow, a lip curl, slow grownup smile. "That is not a problem for us, you see. We are healers. We have the ability to mend and cure others using our connection with between earth and nature. But first, as I have mentioned, I must listen to your story and see if you could be of any help..."
Again, the three men gazed at one another, stunned by Rina's words. They had tried to shield their identities, to blend with the other prisoners, but she had seen through their disguise.
Kaito took a deep breath. "I will start?" he said. "We are brothers, my name is Kaito; I am the oldest, and in fact, we are travelers. In my nation, we must leave the homeland to learn about the world honed our skills, and sometimes find our soul mate?" looking at Atzi with a sweet smile, "Like our father did. We understand your language because our mother was from these lands. From childhood we learn the arts of hunting to survive and of course to defend ourselves. But different from your land for our people, guns are prohibited because we believe that they are not honorable weapons. I trained with long weapons - swords, spears, etc. I also learned to use plants for healing purposes for the most part..."
Kagami tried to stand but stumbled, clutching his chest, and falling against the wall. He wheezed with a weak laugh, sucking in air. He stood a bit shorter than Kaito, and he wore an open black robe thrown across his spindly shoulders. His light brown gold eyes were the same pale color as his hair, which fell long down his back.
"I'm sorry, Rina sama," he growled. "I cannot stand for so long a time. My name is Kagami. I am a close combat warrior. I use short swords, daggers, and others as my weapons. I also practiced healing, but I heal by needle manipulation, and I practice stealth tactics to be more effective in my attacks, I use sound to locate my enemies in the shadows?"
And the final one did turn up eventually. A thin man, taller than the other two, his eyes hidden behind dark glasses, His hair blond, almost white, so pale that seemed to reflect the light. He hesitated for a moment. "My name is Kohya. I'm the youngest. Sorry about my glasses. I'm not trying to hide my intentions from you. My eyes are very sensitive to motion and light..." He retreated into the darkness from the dim light filtering through the corridor. He carefully removed his glasses. His eyes glowed with an unhuman brightness; two small flames held aloft in darkness. "I'm this group's sharpshooter," he continued, his voice low. "I've had training in range weapons - bows, crossbows, and similar. My healing technique is the use of pressure points to heal people."
The air of the dungeon crackled with unspoken tension. Rina's eyes moved to the three men; her gaze unwavering. They were wounded, vulnerable, but beneath the surface, she sensed a formidable strength, a hidden resolve. She realized that these strangers were exactly what she needed to escape.
Chapter 12: A Bargain in the Dark
"We'd love to help?" Kaito began again, addressing Rina, a figure of surprising elegance amidst the grim dungeon. Her presence promised a flicker of hope in the suffocating darkness; "But in our condition, it's almost impossible. We would be just a burden for you?"
Before he could finish, a cascade of laugher erupted from Rina. It was a bright almost maniac sound that echoed in the confined space. "I am sorry..." she was gasping, grabbing at her stomach, "I think perhaps you didn't quite hear me. We can heal you. Your wounds are not complicated to fix for someone like us..." Her words were like a bolt of lightning, igniting a fire in Kaito's heart. He had almost given up all hope, resigned himself to a slow agonizing death.
Rina got up, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I am the strongest healer from us, and the one with the most experience. I can easily fix you; but a perfect healing is about connection, deeper the connection stronger the healing; and I doubt you can have that connection with me?" she teased. "My daughters, on the other hand, don't have much experience healing people but I think they can connect better with you?"
She did not even get an opportunity to say another thing when the three young women behind her move at superhuman speed, their cheeks flushed and their eyes filled with a mixture of eagerness and apprehension. Before the men could react, each one of Rina's daughters were beside the men.
Atzi her voice soft yet confident, hold of Kaito's hand. "It will be my pleasure to heal you?" Kaito's breath caught in his throat. Atzi's eyes were the color of jade, deep pools of green that seemed to hold the secrets of the forest. Lost in their depths, he was barely aware of his brothers' amused snickers. "Yes, yes, of course?" he stuttered, feeling his face burning. His voice trembled, giving away his sudden and unexpected infatuation.
Kagumi, clutching his ribs, was startled at the voice like the chime of distant bells. He braced himself, expecting more pain, but the sound seemed to soothe him. "Hello again I am Tozi, and if you would permit it, I would like to heal you?" Tozi walked around him, indifferent scorn in every pace, her jet-black hair shining in the shadowy light which entered from the top of the cave. She had a closed-lipped smile, a secretive one, and Kagumi was well and truly in her mercy. He could only nod uncertainly.
Kohya, ever the pragmatist, was sitting in the single remaining chair, smiling because of his brothers' reactions with the young women. Suddenly a soft voice called his name. "Master Kohya, would you allow me to heal your wounds?..." Xoco stood before him, eyes a dried-up well of color, yellow to green to blue with radiance. Blond hair blazed like the morning light, framing her face that was both innocent and wise. Kohya, normally quick-witted, found himself speechless. The only thing he could manage was to stutter, "I wouldn't want it any other way."
Chapter 13: The Healing Connection
With a combined effort, the makeshift table was moved to the center of the dungeon, transforming the grim space into a healing chamber. Kaito was sitting in front of Atzi, Kagumi in front of Tozi, and Kohya in front of Xoco's line of sight. All three men found themselves unable to look away.
Rina watched with a mischievous smile. "After all, they are my daughters, for sure?" she whispered.
The process began as each of the women took the hands of the injured men. Atzi, Tozi and Xoco closed their eyes, their faces serene and focused. A strange energy seemed to emanate from them, filling the dungeon with a palpable hum.
Soon, Kaito, Kagumi, and Kohya could feel it - a gentle probing, a subtle manipulation beneath their skin. The heard the grinding of bones and they clicked back in to place, the knitting of torn tissues, the closing of open wounds. The pain was intense, a searing wave that threatened to overwhelm them.
But the sigh of the young women before them - their unwavering focus, the delicate touch of their hands - was enough to anchor them. They watched as Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco's faces contorted in concentration, beaded with sweat, their bodies trembling with the effort.
And then, in that instant, there was something stirred within the hearts of the three brothers. It was more than gratitude, more than admiration. A deep-seated protectiveness blossomed in their hearts, a fierce need to protect these women from harm even if it costs them their lives.
Time stretched, an agonizing eternity of pain and burgeoning affection. Finally, the healing came to an end. Kaito, Kagumi, and Kohya stood up, feeling a surge of energy coursing through their bodies. They stretched, testing their muscles, probing the areas where they had been injured. The pain was gone, replaced by a newfound vitality.
The three sisters stood too, but their faces were pale, their eyes heavy with exhaustion. They swayed, about to collapse, when the brothers reached out, enveloped them in their arms. They looked deep into each other's eyes. Smiles bloomed on their faces, shy and tentative. A blush crept up their necks and their faces drew closer, the air thick with unspoken feelings.
A soft cough, cutting the air. Rina waited behind them, a knowing smirk playing in her lips. "We all need some rest now..." The brothers helped the young women to sit on their makeshift beds. Rina continued. "Now the only thing we need to do is figure out how to escape from here and be prepared for my husband arrival?" She turned away, leaving the air simmering with unspoken desires and newfound bonds.
Chapter 14: Whispers of the Heart
Tozi, Xoco, and Atzi retreated to a corner, sitting close together, their face etched with concern. They avoided eye contact looking at the floor.
Gradually, they raised their faces, their gazes drawn to the three men. Kaito, Kagumi, and Kohya were testing their strength jumping and stretching like little kids, their faces alight with relief and renewed hope. The girls' faces softened, and a small, hesitant smiles touched their lips. They blushed as the men caught their eyes and returned their smiles.
Rina approached, her expression softening. "My babies, we need to talk..." The women hugged their mother, who had arms around them, their eyes filled with unspoken questions. "I know how you feel?" Rina said, her voice gentle and calm. "I once was young..." She paused, a wistful smile on her face. "I was a slave, sold to the Demon Souls. Your father rescued me from them, risking his own life. He was badly hurt and of course I healed him. In that moment, I knew he would be mine. Then you are here?" She laughed and a sound filled with warmth.
"Mom?" they grumbled; their faces flushed with embarrassment. She continued, undeterred, "Your father is very shy, so I took the first step?" she stopped for a second then continued. "If you want something you must fight for it. Don't let anything stand in your way. Do you understand what I mean?..." she looked at the three men behind her,
She didn't finish her sentence before the men approached them, their faces etched with concern. They offered water and food; their voices overlapping in a chorus of anxious questions. "Are you alright? Are you in pain? Please drink some water and food?"
They looked up at them, their hearts fluttering. They managed shy smiles. "Thank you?" they answered, their voices soft almost a whisper. "We're alright?" they answered all at once.
Rina stood up, with a satisfied smile on her face. "My work here is done? The next step is talk to their father; that is going to be a fun conversation..." She looked back at her daughters and winked at them; leaving them to accept the reality of their new feelings. The dungeon once the source of fear, now had something different, something soft, and something worth fighting for; but the real fight, nonetheless, they would later discover, had only just begun.
Chapter 15: A Promise in the Wind
The wind howled a dirge of emptiness over the gaunt bodies of the dying trees to the mountaintop. Mictly stood defiant against the whip-lashing storm, a lone figure silhouetted against the swirling grey canvas. His body a roadmap of battles fought and scars earned.
He looked back, a storm brewing within the storm. Black clouds gathering with unnatural speed; an obsidian army poised to unleash its fury. They waited for him, a silent, expectant legion. Mictly slowly clenched his fist. Lightning flared within the clouds, a jagged response to his command, illuminating his face - a weathered mask of grim determination and simmering rage.
He looked down at Pagan City, nestled in the valley below like a festering wound. His voice, when it came, it was growl, a promise of retribution, a whisper of a forgotten god. "Rina, Atzi, Tozi, Xoco? I will be there soon?"
As the last syllable was hissed between lips, and the mountain itself shook. A rending of thunder so, a bellowing of a thousand throats shouting war-cry to blood, appalled the air, and left nothing more. Mictly began his descent, the storm his shadow, enveloping the city in a suffocating darkness.
Chapter 16: Descent
Rain fell on Mictly's face as he approached the first gate. It was a crude barricade of concrete and steel, manned by four heavy armed guard and a throng of others lurking behind the steel door. He could feel them, their fear masked by bravado, their hunger for blood a pathetic imitation of his own consuming rage.
He felt the city's corruption, its filth, a palpable stench that rose to meet him. He tasted in the air - the metallic tang of desperation, the acrid burn of cruelty.
One of the guards, a young man barely old enough to shave, spotted him. "Stop there!! Don't come any closer!!..." His voice cracked, betraying his fear.
The words were swallowed by the wind and the growing thunder. Mictly was already upon him, a whirlwind of barely controlled power. One moment the guard was shouting, the next he was gasping for air, his feet danglin above the ground. Miclty's grip, like a vise of steel, tightened around his throat. A sickening snap echoed in the downpour. The lifeless body slumped to the ground.
There was no time for reaction. He moved with an impossible speed, a phantom weaving through the rain. A single, brutal strike to the second guard's chest crushed his ribs, puncturing his lungs. The man crumpled, chocking on his own blood.
Mictly leaped back, landing between the two reminding guards. Before they could even raise their weapons, he sized their heads, his fingers digging into their skulls. With a sickening crunch, he slammed them together. Bone fragments exploded, scattering across the rain-soaked ground.
Silence descended, broken only by the relentless downpour and the crackling energy emanating from Mictly. He looked down at the carnage, at the twitching limbs and pooling blood. He raised his hands, slick with the crimson rain.
A smile, cold and devoid of warmth, twisted his lips. "This time?" he murmured, his voice low rasp, "no survivors?"
He fixed his gaze on the reinforced steel door. With a single gesture, a surge of power coursed through him. The door buckled, groaned, and then erupted into million pieces, sending the guards cowering behind it flying. Shards of metal ripped through their flesh, turning them into grotesque pincushions.
Mictly walked through the wreckage, each step heavy, deliberate, his presence radiating raw power. Sparks danced around him, a tangible manifestation of the storm that ragged both within and without. Bullets ripped through the air, missing him by inches, deflected by an unseen force. Guards rush him, desperate to stem the tide of his advance, but he brushed them aside with contemptuous ease. Each blow sent them hurling through the air, their bodies contorted at impossible angles.
Then walls of the buildings became canvases of gore, stained with the blood of the fallen. The air hung heavy with the stench of death. Mictly continued his macabre procession through the city, a harbinger of destruction, leaving behind a trail of carnage and despair.
Chapter 17: Echoes of Hope
Deep beneath the city, in the sprawling network of dungeons, a glimmer of hope still flickered. The prisoners, starved and broken, huddled together, their spirits crushed by years of captivity.
As the sun reached its zenith, casting long, distorted shadows across the dungeon floor, Rina looked up. The light, normally a mocking reminder of the world outside, was abruptly extinguished. A wave of darkness washed, followed by a blinding flash of lightning and a thunderclap that shook the very foundations of the city.
Rina felt a tremor run through her, a primal recognition that resonated deep within her soul. She stood up, her gaze sweeping across the faces of the other. A faint smile, the first in what seemed like an eternity, touched her lips.
"He is here?" she said, voice clear and strong, cutting through the silence of the dungeon. "Your father is here. It's time to go home?"
Chapter 18: Breaking Chains
The three men stood, the dim light of the dungeon reflecting off the sweat on their brows. They exchanged a grim look, a silent conversation passing between them. Then, their eyes fell to Rina and her daughters, still recovering from the "healing". A shared nod sealed their decision.
Kaito, Kagami, and Kohya rapidly re-secured their bandages. With a burst of speed, they charged towards door, their voices echoing through the sone corridor. "Guards! Help us! Help! Guards!" Kaito bellowed, his feigned panic laced with urgency. "The women! They ate something! Foam is coming from their mouths! If Ragnar finds out?"
The heavy door creaked all the way open, the two huge guards shoving their way through, weapons drawn. The third peered past them, his eyes widening at the sight of Rina and her daughters convulsing on the floor, froth bubbling from their lips.
"Get out of the way!..." one of the guards snarled, shoving Kaito and Kagami against the cold, damp wall. He lunged forward, his boot raised to kick Tozi, assuming she was the most vulnerable.
But from the shadows behind him, a hand emerged. A low, guttural voice, a rumble that seemed to vibrate through the very stone of dungeon, whispered near the guard's ear "Do not touch my angel..."
The arm wrapped itself around the guard's neck, a chokehold applied with terrified precision. A sickening crack echoed in confined space. The guard's body went limp, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling before he slumped to the floor.
The two other guards, startled by the suddenness of the attack, they didn't have time to react. Kaito and Kohya, their feigned weakness vanished, moved with lightning speed. A swift chop to the throat, a pressure point attack behind the ear - both guards fell just as quick as their comrade.
Rina sprinted to the gate herself, face full of resolution, peering out, searching for any other approaching guards. Kaito, Kagami, and Kohya stripped the guards of their uniforms and weapons. The metal felt reassuring heavily in their hands. They quickly distributed the weapons, the familiarity a balm to their frayed nerves. Kohya found the keys to the cells, a vital piece of the puzzle.
"Okay," Kagami said, his own voice gentle but firm. "We move. Slowly and quiet. No unnecessary risks. They unlocked the first door, moving cautiously on unspoken harmony. Kagami took the lead, his eyes constantly scanning the corridors. Rina and her daughters stayed closed behind, Rina positioning herself protectively in front of her children. Kaito and Kohya brough up the rear, their senses heightened, alert to any sign of danger.
Their progress was agonizingly slow, each step measured, each shadow scrutinized. Finally, they reached the first guard station, a small room buzzing with the laughter and crude boasts of six guards. They were sprawled around the table, gambling and bragging about the tortures they would inflict on the prisoners.
Kagami, Kaito and Kohya shared a glance. Brief. Silent. They slipped into the room; their movements almost imperceptible. Before even the guards realized they were no longer alone, they were all dead. A wire tightened around the throat, a knife below the ribcage, a precise pressure point. The room was silenced in matter of seconds.
After the initial threat was taken out, the others followed. Their weapons were in the corner of the room - Kaito took his katanas and his kusarigama, Kagami grabbed his shinobigatanas, shurinkens and kunai and Kohya his longbow and a blowgun. They sit in the center of the room; the tension was palpable.
Kaito stood in front Rina and her girls, his face was serious. "No matter what happens, you will stay between us. I will be in the front. Kagami, you take the back and Kohya keep us safe from the distance."
The brothers got together for a second checking each other weapons, suddenly they turned their expressions changed a predatory expression in their faces, Kaito said "We are ready my ladies?" Rina, Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco stared at each other with fierce determination burning in their hearts. They set their faces hard, feeling danger.
As they walked out the room a piercing alarm blared though the dungeon, shattering the uneasy silence. It wasn't triggered by them; something else was happening, Rina smiled "He is here?" she said.
Before she finished her sentence, a group of guards appeared at the end of the corridor, weapons raised. The guards open fire immediately.
Kaito reacted instinctively. He drew his katanas, the steel glinting in the dim light. With a series of precis, almost impossible movements, he deflected the bullets, each strike a tine explosion of sparks.
Then, a new sound pierced the air - the unmistakable thwack of bowstrings. Arrows, fired from an unseen location, rained on the guards. Each arrow found its mark with terrifying precision, felling the guards one after another.
The guards had fallen within minutes, riddled with arrows. The silence that followed was broken only by the echoing drip of water.
They continued to move, navigating the labyrinthine corridors from guard station to the next. The patter repeated itself: guards surprised, guards overwhelmed, guards dead. Kaito, Kagami and Kohya moved with an incredible, almost unnatural, agility and precision, their movements honed by years of training.
Chapter 19: The Serpent Uncoils
Outside the dungeon, in the narrow, twisting city streets, Mictly continued his relentless advance. He left behind a trail of shattered stone and broken bodies, the discarded husks of his clones littering his path. As he walked, he repeated the same chilling refrain over and over. "Fight, and this will be the last thing you ever do. Surrender, and you will see another day?"
Hundreds of clones rushed to him in the narrow, twisting streets, each one fueled by Ragnar' twisted orders, but they met the same fate as their predecessors. Mictly moved through them like a whirlwind, his face a mask of cold, implacable fury.
Finally, he saw it, a reinforced door, bigger and heavier than any he had encountered before. He knew this was it - the final barrier, the last hurdle that would separate him from his wife and daughters.
As he approached the door, the storm above intensified, mirroring the tempest raging within him. Anxiety clawed at his throat, urging him to abandon caution and rush inside. But he fought it down, reminding himself that Rina and the girls deserved s safe path, a chance to escape. He had to remain calm, assess the situation, and create that path for them.
He reached the door, his hand hovering over the cold, unforgiving metal. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for whatever lay beyond. The fate of his family, the fate of the city, hung in the balance.
Chapter 20: Crimson Corridor
The air hung thick with the metallic tang of blood and the burned powder of discharged weapons. Each breath Mictly took was a testament of the carnage behind him. A straight path of shattered bodies, deactivated clones leaking synthetic fluids, and walls smeared an obscene crimson painted his journey. He paused before the last door, the metal cold and slick beneath his grim fingers.
He glanced back, a savage smile playing in his lips. "The path is free?" he murmured; the words barely audible above the drumming rain. He had carved a bloody swathe through the heart of the enemy; each disable clone was a step closer to his family.
He turned back to the door, then he took deep, shuddering breath, trying to contain the raw power surging within him. He touched the cold metal with his left hand, closing his eyes, letting the feel of it ground him, anchor him to the present. With a deliberate slowness, he raised his right hand to face level, clenching into a fist The tension coiled in his muscles, a coiled spring ready to unleash. Slowly, he lowered his fist, building the anticipation until it became almost unbearable.
And then with a single, devastating motion, he slammed his fist into the door.
The impact was deafening. Metal screamed, tearing apart the seams. Pieces of the reinforced door exploded outwards, transformed into lethal shrapnel that ripped through the ranks of clones massed behind it. Mictly didn't flinch. He lowered his arm, the skin around his knuckles already healing, and stepped slowly into the final area.
Dozens, dozens of copies, hundreds even, waited in perfect formation. Identical faces, emotionless and cold, regarded him with unwavering obedience. Their weapons were raised, awaiting the silent command to unleash a torrent of bullets. But Mictly didn't see the weapons. He saw only an obstacle between him and his family.
Then he saw it - a metal door stuck on the other side of the yard, the only visible exit beyond the ranks of clones. The door hissed open with agonizing slowness, and from the darkness within, four figures emerged, running. Shortly behind them came three more, all of them desperate, all of them hoping for a way. But their hope faltered as they reach the open space, confronted by the seemingly endless wall of clones.
In that instant Mictly knew. That they were his family. His wife, Rina, the love of his life, and his three daughters, Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco. They were alive. They were here.
A primal roar ripped from Mictly's throat, a cry of rage and relief that echoed through the storm- lashed city. It was the sound of a caged beast finally breaking free, a culmination of relentless fights and unwavering hope.
As if mirroring his fury, a blinding flash of lighting illuminated the yard, striking the ground with earth-shattering force. Tents of clones were hurled into the air, their bodies rag dolled by the raw power of the storm. The thunder followed shook the very ground he stood on.
Mictly ran. went on. Clones were no longer an obstacle, merely debris scattered in his path. Nothing would stop him now.
Chapter 21: The Broken Cage
Inside the dungeon, chaos reigned. Rina, her face smudged with grime and fatigue, fought with ferocity born of desperation. Kaito, Kagumi, and Kohya, stood shoulder to shoulder deflecting fire and protecting the women. Rina's leadership and the men combat skills hand kept them alive, but they were running out of time. The guards were closing in.
Suddenly, the sound of a massive explosion shook the dungeon, rattling the bars of the cells. Rina instinctively knew what it meant.
"The door! That's the exit from here!..." she yelled: her voice hoarse but filled with new found urgency. Rina and her daughters, Atzim, Tozi and Xoco, rushed towards the heavy metal door that led outside. It was jammed, wrapped by years of neglect. They pushed with all their might, their muscles screaming in protest. Slowly, agonizing, the door began to groan and grind against its hinges. Finally, with a deafening screech, it gave way swinging open to reveal a dark rain-swept sky.
They stumble out of the dungeon, gasping for breath and blinking against the driving rain. Freedom was within their grasp. But their hope was short-lived.
Hundreds of clones stood before them, a silent, impassable wall. They were trapped.
Kaito, Kagumi, and Kohya exchanged desperate glances, knowing what awaited them. They would fight until their last breath, protecting the women as long as they could. They braced themselves for the inevitable slaughter.
Then, a sound tore through the sky - a primal scream unlike anything they had ever heard. It was the sound of an ancient beast, the sound that resonated with a raw, untamed power.
A second later, a bolt of lightning struck the ground a short distance away, creating another massive explosion. The earth trembled. The thunder that followed shook the entire city to its core.
Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco covered their ears, collapsing to the ground in terror. Kaito, Kagumi, and Kohya, with instinctively rushed to protect them, shielding them from the storm fury.
But Rina remined standing, tears streaming down her face, a huge radiant smile illuminating her features. "He is here?" she whispered, her voice filled with awe and relief.
Everyone looked in the direction she was looking. It felt like a tank was getting closer, the ground vibrating with each step. The bodies of clones were flying through the air, ripped apart by an unseen force, creating a path through the ranks of the enemy.
A second later, a colossal figure emerged from the storm, a man forged in fire and fueled by an unyielding love.
Chapter 22: Reunion in the Storm
Kaito and Kohya and Kagumi instinctively stopped in front of the woman, prepared to defend them against the unknown threat. But before they could react Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco broke free from their grasp, their faces alight with elation and wonder.
"Daddy!..." they cried simultaneously, tears streaming down their faces as they ran towards the approaching figure. "Daddy, you're here!..."
The colossal man faltered; his relentless advance suddenly arrested. The rage had fueled his rampage abruptly dissipated, replaced by an overwhelming wave of tenderness and love. He dropped to his knees, his massive frame trembling, and opened his arms wide.
The girls launched themselves into his embrace, burying their faces in his chest, sobbing with relief and joy. Mictly wrapped his arms around him, holding them tight, as if he was afraid, they would vanish if he let them go. The sight was profoundly moving, even in the amidst the carnage and the storm. Kaito, Kagumi, and Kohya just stayed there, unsure of what to do.
Rina steeped forward, her voice trembling with emotion. "Guys, this is my husband, Mictly, and the father of my girls."
Kagumi, Kaito, and Kohya were stunned into silence. They couldn't process the information, their minds struggling to reconcile the monstrous figure they had just witnessed with the loving father embracing his children.
Rina went to them, her eyes fixed on Mictly. She stopped in front of him, her eyes filled with a love that transcended time and hardship.
Mictly raised his head slowly, his gaze locking into hers. He stood up, took a tentative step forward, then collapsed to his knees again, overwhelmed by the sight of her.
Rina stood up before him, cupping his face in her hands. She lifted his head, looking into his eyes, searching for the man she knew was in there.
"You took your sweet time?" she said softly, her voice choked with emotion.
He reached out, his hand trembling and she brushed a stray strand of hair from her face. "I am sorry?" he whispered; his voice raw with regret. "It won't happen again?"
He pulled her close, and their lips met in a slow, tender kiss. It was a kiss of love that spoke of love, tears, and of unbreakable faith that had carried them through the darkest times. Suddenly the storm ease, letting a ray of sunshine escape from the clouds illuminating the scene.
But the reunion couldn't last long. The fighting instinct, honed by years of struggle, kick in. Mictly knew that they had to move fast, before the clones could regroup and reinforce their position. His daughters clung to his arms; their faces radiant with happiness. He glanced at the three men behind his wife, his brow furrowing slightly, his fist clenching instinctively.
Rina put her hand on his chest and sensing his unease. "They helped us?" she said. "I will explain later; now I think it's time to move?"
Mictly addressed the men, his voice still laced with warning. "Thank you?" he said, his words carefully chosen. "Thank you for keeping my family safe. We will have time later to talk..."
Kaito, Kagumi, and Kohya bowed, unable to find words to express their relief. Mictly continued. "Stay closed to my family, protect them. I will open a path so you can take them to safety?." They nod, making an unspoken promise.
Chapter 23: The End of the Line
Before Mictly could finish talking, the ranks of the cloned soldiers shattered wide, kneeling in unison. A colossal figure, even larger and more imposing than Mictly, slowly approached. This was no ordinary clones. This was something different.
Mictly stood between his family and the approaching threat. His voice was deep and cold, devoid of emotion. "Stay here, don't move!!..." He turned to Kaito, Kagumi, Kohya, his gaze unwavering. "Don't let anything happen to them..."
He turned and began to walk, a grim determination etched on his face. "This ends today!..." As Mictly was approaching Ragnar the sky turned darker than before, in anticipation of a battle that was waiting for too long to happen.
Ragnar stood in front of Mictly, his face a mask of horror. Mictly could see the realization dawning in Ragnar's eyes as he remembered their last encounter. Mictly was dead, and now he stood in front of him stronger and more determined than ever.
A sound came from deep inside Mictly's chest, a growl low and menacing. "Ragnar, this is between you and me!..."
Ragnar nervously laughed. The sound was like a rusty hinge creaked with offense in the rain. "Between you and me? Mictly? You're dead, we killed you? this is?" The words caught in Ragnar's throat. His cold, calculating eyes widened in fear that was almost gratifying. "This is?" he couldn't finish, because Mictly wasn't where he'd been. One moment, they were separated by twenty feet of mud and rain. The next Mictly was a phantom blurring into existence directly in front of Ragnar.
Ragnar, trained in a dozen of forms of combat, reacted on instinct, lifting his left arm - a gleaming, polished contraption of chrome and gears, capable of crushing bones. But there was nothing there. Just a phantom limb, a memory of steel. He couldn't see Mictly touching it. There was no sound, no impact. Yet the mechanical arm, from his elbow to fingertip, was gone. Cleanly severed, as if by a scalpel of pure light.
Another blow. Ragnar, fell to his knees, scrambled, bringing up his remining arm - his other mechanical arm, armed with a wrist-mounted projectile launcher - to defend himself. Pieces of metal shards of chrome and wiring, exploited outward, glittering in the gloom like morbid confetti. The arm was gone in seconds, vaporized.
Ragnar, whimpered, a broken sound, then tried to crawl away, dragging himself through the muck with his remining limbs. Pain sharp and searing, lanced from his right leg. He looked back, his vision swam, and a river of crimson, shockingly vibrant against the grey mud, was the only thing he could see.
"Mercy!" Ragnar cried, voice cracking, choking sob. "Mercy, please!"
Mictly's eyes were cold, two black blades, devoid of empathy, burning with a terrible, ancient determination. There would be no mercy. He clasped Ragnar's right leg - the one still attached.
He squeezed slowly harder by the second. A sickening, wet crack echoed, a sound that would haunt Ragnar's nightmares. The bone shattered, splintering inside the flesh, then the sinew and muscle ripped, a grotesque tearing. Ragnar's leg, severed from his body, became a bloody, mangled thing in Mictly's grip. Ragnar's scream, now wounded animal's shriek, was abruptly cut off by a chocked sob.
Mictly tossed the limb aside, a discarded piece of trash, then lunged, grabbing Ragnar by the neck, his hands engulfing the man's throat. He pulled Ragnar's runed face close, their eyes locking. The storm raged around them, lightning flashing, illuminating Mictly's face, etching now something ancient and terrible.
"You don't deserve to die?" Mictly said, his voice a deep growl, the sound of tectonic plates shifting deep below the earth. "You must repent for the rest of your life?"
With that, he hurled Ragnar to the ground like a broken doll. The clones, witnessing the impossible, the annihilation of their leader, scattered in disarray, terror driving them into the rain-swept wastes.
Chapter 24: Awaking
Mictly turned, his back to the writhing, bleeding mess that was Ragnar, and began to walk. Each step was deliberated, a promise of retribution.
Then, a sound, sharp and out of place, tore through the rain. A gun opening fire. A searing pain blossomed in Mictly's leg. He looked back. Ragnar, lying in the mud, a smoking, shattered arm mounted gun somehow still clutched in his remaining stump; he was laughing. A high mad cackle that was both defiant and utterly broken.
Suddenly, a chorus of screams. "Mom! MOMMY!..."
Mictly's mind snapped towards where his family had waited. Rina, was clutching her chest. A crimson stain impossibly bright, spread across the coarse fabric of her dress.
Time slowed. Second stretched to eternity. Rina, eyes wide open with shock and pain, began to fall, an agonizingly slow spiral to the muddy ground. His daughters Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco and the three young men next to them, rushed forward their desperate cries swallowed by the storm.
A high- pitched shriek ripped through Mictly's eras, impossible loud, silencing the world. Then? everything stopped.
The raindrops stopped, suspended in mid-air, shining pearls that filled the air around him. The clones, fleeing in terror, froze in mid- stride. The world became a still life, muted and silent.
Then the darkness. Complete, absolute darkness. No light. No sound. Nothing. A void, quiet and vast.
Suddenly, an explosion. Not of sound, but of pain. Inside him. His mother, dead, beside him, looking at him. Rina, shackled, dragged before him, a slave of Ragnar's will. His daughters, Atzi, Tozi, and Xoco ripped from home, their innocent faces contorted with terror. Everything rushed at once, a tidal wave of grief, fury, despair, and an ancient, forgotten power.
He fell to his knees, the emptiness around him seeming to press in, crushing him. But the pain, the profound, soul-shattering anguish, resonated. He clenched his hands into fists, lifting his arms to the sky, a cry came out of his throat, the sound more of a wounded beast than a human.
The storm listened?
And the storm answered?
Lightning, a single, blinding searing bolt, struck him. Then another. Tens. Hundreds. Thousands. He was a conduit, a living antenna for the raw, untamed power of the storm. Each bolt hammered into him, forging him new, burning away the hesitation, leaving behind only the core of his pain.
Slowly, impossibly, Mictly began to rise. The ground beneath him, where he'd knelt, began to smoke, then glow, finally to melt. A pool of molten earth spread outwards, steaming in the relentless rain. With every painful, determined step, the ground liquefied, bubbling and hissing.
He approached Ragnar, who seeing the monstrous transformation, began once more to whimper. Terror, pure and unadulterated, controlled Ragnar's broken face. He tried to crawl, tried to scream, but only choke, desperate pleas for his life escaped him.
Mictly caught up to him. Slowly, deliberately, he bent down, his hands closing around Ragnar's neck. He lifted him, a broken, barely human thing, off the ground.
Lightning, think and blinding crackled around Mictly, arching between his body and Ragnar's. the air Filled with the acrid smell of ozone and burning flesh. Ragnar's screams were deafening, the sound of a soul being ripped apart, as his flesh, exposed to the raw, uncontrolled power, began to melt. Skin ran like wax, muscle withered, bone glowed red hot before dissolving.
When Mictly was done with him, he was no more than a smoking, charred piece of meat, utterly devoid of any resemblance of a human being, a grotesque monument to Mictly's unleashed fury.
Lightning lit up all of Ragnar's clones. Striking their targets with lethal precision, turning the fleeing figures into pillars of fire and charred bone, scattered across the city. Buildings crumbled, people screamed, and chaos reigned. Mictly's only though was to destroy Ragnar and everyone who had hurt his family.
Mictly felt the darkness within him growing, swallowing whole. He was consumed by his anger and pain, becoming a force of destruction. He could feel the suffering of the people in the city, but he didn't care. He was lost in his own darkness, unable to see the light. He was now, a harbinger of pure and absolute wrath.
Chapter 25: Darkness in the Tempest
Inside Mictly's mind, there was nothing but darkness. No sound, no light, just an endless void. He could feel the pain he inflicted upon the people of Pagan City but he didn't care. He was lost in his own thoughts, consumed by the darkness that had taken over his soul.
"After all this time?" he thought, "I am just destruction and pain? again, I couldn't protect the people I loved the most? I am just devastation? like a tempest out of control?"
The storm raged outside, mirroring the turmoil within Mictly's mind. Pagan city was consumed by darkness, illuminated only by the occasional flash of lightning. Buildings crumbled under the force of the wind and rain, turning the ruble in an instant. People screamed, running for cover, but there was nowhere to hide.
Mictly stood in the midst of the chaos, his mind consumed by darkness. He thought of all the people who had wronged him, all the pain and suffering he had endured. And now, it was time for them to pay.
"Nobody will escape?" he vowed, "Nobody will be safe? Everybody needs to pay for their sins."
Mictly unleashed his full power, summoning the full force of the tempest down upon the city. Lightning struck left and right, buildings were destroyed, and people were consumed by the darkness.
But the destruction raged on, Mictly began to feel a sense of emptiness. He had dedicated his life to protecting others, but in the end, he had become the very thing he had fought against.
"I am just destruction?" he though, "This is all I will ever be?"
Chapter 26: Whisper in the Void
The darkness was absolute, a suffocating shroud that clung to Mictly like a second skin. It wasn't the absence of light, but an oppressive void, a deep, silent ocean of despair. He drifted, and anchorless husk, his mind a fractured landscape pf self-condemnation. Every breath was a fresh stab of guilt, every beat of his heart a drum of regret.
Then, impossible as a star in the sunless sky, a flicker. A pinprick of light, distant at first, then growing, gaining luminescence with and alarming speed. Mictly watched, transfixed, a primal fear coiling in his gut. What new horror could this light bring?
He covered his eyes, a futile gesture in this boundless dark, bracing for an impact, a blaze, an annihilation. Instead, a softness. A warmth that permeated the chill of the void, wrapping around him, tender and secure. It was a sensation so profoundly alien, so utterly forgotten, that a sob caught in his throat. Someone was holding him, a gentle embrace that resonated with a memory buried so deep in felt like a dream.
Then, a voice, soft and warm as the light itself, washing over him like balm. "My baby?" His eyes, though they saw nothing but the increasing glow, strained to comprehend. "Mom??" he whispered, the name a foreign, fragile thing on his tongue.
A form began to coalesce from the light, translucent yet vibrant, a ghostly figure that shimmered with ethereal glow. She moved gracefully, coming up behind him, wrapping her arms around him from behind, her phantom embrace providing an anchor in the spiritual desolation.
He pushed away. "I am a monster?" he choked out, tears, hot and raw, streaming down his face. "I am just destruction and death. I tried to be good, but at the end, the only thing I could do was to destroy?" His voice cracked, each word a shard of the broken man he was.
"When I found you?" Elara's voice was a lullaby, stroking away the edges of his despair, "You were in the middle of the storm, surrounded by death and desperation. But for me, you were my salvation, the light that I needed to keep going. You were the person that helped me to change, to become better. You were the force that pushed me to change for good?"
Mictly shook his head. "But I am like a tempest without control?" he sobbed, the image of destroying the city and burning the clones vivid in his mind. "A tempest that only is good to kill and destroy?"
A soft smile, full with ancient wisdom, touched Elara's lips. "You are wrong?" she said, her voice firm yet infinite gentle. "A storm is not a force of destruction. It is a force of change. Everything gets better after a storm. The storm is the force of rebirth, a force of renewal? You have that in you? You changed my life, give me a propose?"
As she spoke, images vibrant and alive, swirled into existence, maelstrom of memories. Mictly saw Elara, younger, her face etched with exhaustion but her eyes alight with fierce love, clutching a bundled infant - him. He saw their small shack; he remembered the garden she meticulously tended behind the house. He saw laughter, shared meals comforting silences. Even in the most difficult situations, at the end they were happy together.
Mictly interrupted, his voice raw, "But.. you died because of me? and Rina too? I couldn't protect you both?"
Chapter 27: Echoes and Anchors
Then a finger, was pressed against his lips, silencing the rising tide of self-condemnation. The surprise of the physical contact made him halt, his breath catching. A hand, soft and warm cupped his cheeks, grounding him, pulling him back from the precipice of his despair. A warm breeze, impossibly gentle, caressed his face, carrying with it a familiar scent - a blend of rain-washed earth, sun drenched lilies, and something uniquely hers.
In that second, in front of his face, was Rina. Her eyes, color of moss after spring rain, were wide and bright, crinkling at the corners as a radiant smile bloomed on her lips. She hear-bumped him, a gesture as uniquely hers as her scent, and act of playful affection meant to disrupt his spiraling thoughts.
"My love," she whispered, her voice a balm to his turbulent soul, "Yes, you are a storm, but not for destruction. You are the storm of change?" She paused, her fingers tracing the lines of his jaw. "You changed my life. Made it better. You give me peace and calm. You give me smiles, and joy. You gave me our daughters? You are the force of change?"
One more time, memories rushed to his mind, vivid and warm, not of destruction, but of creation. He saw the winding river, sunlight dappling through overhead leaves, the exact moment their eyes met across the river, a spark igniting. He felt the phantom brush of their first kiss, soft and hesitant, under the porch in their home. He remembered talking for hours, their hands clasped together, looking at the countless stars that seemed to shimmer just for them. Then the overwhelming rush of emotion in the delivery room, the first cry the birth of his daughters, tine bundles of life that irrevocably altered his universe. And finally, the endless parade of smiles and laughter of the little ones, their boundless joy echoing though their home, a symphony of happiness.
But even as these precious memories washed over him, the dark tendrils of his self-blame tightened their grip. "But you got hurt because of me? because of my past?" Mictly interrupted, the words escaping again, raw and full of anguish.
He felt Elara's presence once more. Her voice seemed to echo in the quiet space between them. "In life there are happy moments and sad moments?" her voice a sweet melody from a cherished past, filled his mind. "The important is to use those happy moments to overcome the sad ones. You, my son, were the force that change me, and I am grateful for that. Live well, my baby. I am always here looking after you?" Her words were a final, loving release, freeing him from the burden of her absence, reminding him of the love that had once filled his world.
Rina gently grabbed his face, her touch firm, pulling him back completely to the living, breathing present. Her eyes held his, mirroring the unwavering love he saw in the memories flashing before him. "If I had the option?" she said, her voice resolute, "I would do it exactly in the same way. Every challenge, every scar. Because of it, you became the person that changed me for the best?" She leaned closer, her breath warm on his lips, and softly kissed him, a gentle touch evoking a thousand memories. He had visions of faces before his eyes: their wedding day, first steps of their children, picnic afternoons on green meadows, fire-lit nights, all smiling moments, all peaceful images.
Chapter 28: The Ties That Bind
Mictly gasped, his eyes snapping open. He was back in Pagan City, the reality of the destruction crashing down on him once more. Everywhere he looked, he saw only wreckage and death. The storm continued to rage overhead, mirroring the tempest with in him, threatening to consume what little remained of his hope.
Then, he felt something tugging at his clothes. He looked down.
Atzi, Tozi and Xoco?
Their faces were straked with dirt and tears, their bodies trembling with fear, but their eyes held an unrewarding determination. They to him with their might, their hands gripping his clothes.
"We're not going to let you go?" They whispered in unison; their voices barely audible above the roar of the storm.
Their words, simple yet profound, pierced through the haze of grief and despair that enveloped him. They were his anchors, the threads that tethered him to the world of the living. He could not abandon them. He would not.
And then, from behind him, a voice, harsh and commanding, slashed through the tumult. "Mictly! It is enough!!!..."
He looked back, he blinked, struggling to focus. He rubbed his eyes, trying to clear the fog that clouded his mind.
Rina was approaching him slowly, helped by the three young men, her face etched with concern. He walked slowly towards her. Suddenly, his legs gave up falling to his knees, overwhelmed by relief. She limped towards him, and wrapped her arms around him in a fierce hug.
"I am all right," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "You did it?" looking at him with smile "Everybody is safe?"
Relief washed over him, so intense that he couldn't talk. He slowly reached out, touching her face tracing the contours of her features, assuring him-self that she was real, that she was safe. He smiled a genuine smile that reached his eyes for the first time in what felt an eternity.
Mictly felt like his strength was leaving his body, he hugged all of them and smiled.
The storm above them began to calm. The dark clouds parted, revealing patches of blue sky. And then a ray of sunshine broke through, illuminating the scene: Mictly and his family, locked in a thigh embrace, amidst the devastation, bathed in the golden light of hope.
Chapter 29: The Relentless Pursuit
The air in Mictly's lungs burned, a raw searing fire that clawed at his throat with every ragged inhale. Mictly pushed, a primal, desperate surge of will propelling his legs forward. The polished floors of the building blurred beneath him. A dizzying ribbon of expensive stone and flickering light. Corridors, identical and unforgiving, stretched out, an endless passage in a building designed for purpose, not for panicked flight.
He slammed through an automatic door; the whirl of its mechanism swallowed by the thunderous beat of his heart. People - the stoic glanced up, their expressions a mix of surprise, concern, and a flicker of impatience. Some tried to intercede, a hand reaching out, a murmured calling him to slow down, but he was a blur, a force of nature unleashed, heedless of protocol or propriety.
His mind screamed though; a mantra hammered into his very bones: "Wait for me. Please wait for a little bit longer. I will be there soon?"
Outside, the sky was a bruised canvas. Wisps pf grey had begun to gather hours ago, but now they swelled. Clouds piled upon clouds, thickening with alarming speed, bleeding into a bruised, oppressive darkness, Low guttural rumbles vibrated through the very foundations of the building. The occasional flash of sickly violet light momentarily illuminated the city below. People in the streets, looked up, a collective murmur rising "looks like a storm is coming?"
"Faster?" his mind urged, even as his lungs screamed in protest, his muscles screaming for respite. But that was a luxury he couldn't afford. Not now. Not ever.
Chapter 30: Rina's Smile
He burst through the final automatic door, skidding to a halt on the smooth floor. The room was bathed in soft, clinical light, the air smelling faintly of antiseptics and something else, like damp earth after a long drought.
There, on a low padded bench, sat Rina. Her hair usually unruly, was pulled back, revealing her calm face. Her eyes met his, and a soft knowing smile touched her lips. "Calm down, Mictly?" she whispered, her voice a balm to his raw nerves. Everything will be okay?"
Next to Rina, three figures paced, their movements tight with suppressed anxiety. Kaito, his usually impassive face etched with worry, ran a hand through his hair. Kagumi, sharp and precise, moved with agitated grace. Kohya, leaned against a wall, his shoulders slumped, his gaze fixed on the floor, while he was biting his nails.
Miclty's gaze swept over them, a silent question in his eyes. They stopped; abruptly halted. Kaito, Kagumi and Kohya, without a word, lowered their heads in unison, bowing, a gesture of profound respect that, in this moment, grated on Mictly's raw nerves. He looked at them with a disapproving gaze, an unvoiced command to sire, to discard the formalities.
A small, firm hand reached out, gently closing over his, which was still clenched into a fist. He looked down. Rina was looking at him, her smile unwavering, her gaze infinitely tender. The storm, the world, the frantic run; it all fade becoming distant echoes. He sank onto the bench beside her. She shifted pulling him close wrapping her arms around his frame.
"I can't believe you?" she murmured, her voice a soft hum against his ear, "The strongest man I know? acting like this?" She pulled back slightly, her hands framing his face, her fingers gently tracing the sharp planes of his face. Her eyes, those deep, knowing all pools, searched his. "That's why I love you so much?"
Chapter 31: A Family Affair
Suddenly, the sterile white doors of the maternity ward slid open with a soft hiss, revealing a scene of exhilarant chaos. Nurses moving with practiced efficiency, pushed three gurneys, each bearing a weary but glowing woman, into the waiting room. Before the wheels had even stilled, Kaito, Kagumi and Kohya surged forward, a wave of desperate relief washing over them. They rushed to their wives, their hands instinctively reaching for Atzi's Tozi's and Xoco's, their faces a mixture of exhaustion, anxiety and burgeoning joy.
A doctor, a kind-faced woman with tired eyes, emerged from behind the beds, a serene smile gracing her lips. "They are ok, just tired?" she announced, her voice a balm to the strained nerves in the room. "Congratulations to the new dads! The babies are healthy and strong, just finishing the last test on them?"
But before the euphoria could fully settle, a booming voice cut through the air. Mictly barreled past the three fathers. He pushed Kaito, Kagumi and Kohya aside with surprising gentleness for his size, his booming questions ricocheting off the walls. "Atzi! Honey, are you ok? Are you in pain? Tozi! My love are they treating you well? Xoco, my sweet baby, are you comfortable? What can I do to help? Just tell me what do you need and will be?"
He was hovering over them, a whirlwind of paternal concern, his face a roadmap of worry lines and unexpressed panic. Before he could finish his last question, a sharp, authoritative voice pierce through his bluster.
"Mictly!..."
Rina, stepped forward. Her red hair was impeccable, her eyes, though softened be relief, held a mischievous glint. With a firm hand she reached out and pulled Mictly away from the beds. "Move out of the way!..." she commanded her voice low and unwavering. "First, husbands take priority. Second, they are your daughters, trust them, they are strong like you? but a little more sensitive?"
Kaito, Kagumi and Kohya, now given space, stood close to their wives, murmuring words of love and comfort. Atzi, Tozi and Xoco though pale and fatigued, offered soft smiles, their eyes shining.
Atzi, called Kaito to get closer, Tozi catching her eye called Kagumi and Xoco with a sly wink called Kohya. In a swift, synchronized movement, the three women, with surprising strength despite their ordeal, reached up. Their hand found the back of their husbands' heads pulling them down. They kissed them, not passionately, but softly, lingeringly, their eyes open as they watched their husbands' faces deepen to a violent red. A moment later they pulled back, a collective, knowing smiles on their faces.
Atzi, Tozi and Xoco called their mom one after another. Rina walked closer, a triumphant, almost predatory smile playing on her lips. Her gaze, sharp and knowing, swept over her daughters, then looking at Mictly she said, her voice like a purr, "I am so glad they are like me?"
Chapter 32: The Storm Awakens
A moment later, the door of the room opened. Three nurses entering the room pushing three cribs. Inside each, swaddled in pristine white blankets, lay a tiny, precious baby.
Mictly, moved forward, he peered into the first crib, then the second, and the third. Three boys. Three perfect, tiny boys. His grandsons. His family was getting bigger again, expanding its roots, solidifying its future. A profound sense of peace settled over him, mingling with unfamiliar, overwhelming tenderness.
He looked back at the room, his eyes brimming. Rina stood with her daughters, all four women smiling, tears glistening in their eyes - tears of joy, of relief, of a deep, unspoken understanding. Kaito, Kagumi anf Kohya having recovered their composure, were now leaning over the beds, teasing each other about their blushing moments, their laughter echoing happily in the quiet room.
Finally, Mictly looked back at the babies. They stirred, making soft, sleepy noises, little coos and sight. Then, as if on cue, all three cried. Not a wail, but a strong, insistent, synchronous cry.
Outside, the world responded. A low rumble building to a crescendo, the sky bruised purple. Lightning split the clouds, followed by a deafening clap of thunder that rattled the windows and made everyone in the room fall silent for a second.
They all looked at Mictly. His eyes were wide, not with fear, but with a profound, knowing recognition. Then they looked at the babies, who, as if fueled by the storm itself, cried stronger, their tiny voices rising to match the growing tempest outside. Stronger their cried, stronger the storm outside grew, lightning flashing in response to each tiny furious wail.
Mictly's lips curled into a slow, knowing smile, the weight of generations settling on his shoulders. He looked from the storm-rattled window to the crying infants, then the faces of his family, now united in a silent awe.
"We have work to do?" he said, his voice deep, resonating with an ancient promise. "The storm is coming?"
