This is a short story about a rescue dog his name is Bryn and before you all wonder he is a little Welsh terrier,the most adorable brave and loving boy you could ever wish to meet,I’m going before my story how Bryn became part of a loving family again.
It all started with a family who lived on a piece of land on deepest,darkest Dartmoor,the time of year is October as anyone know Dartmoor can be cold anytime of year but October is colder and wilder and full of mystery and adventure.
One cold morning as the family were going about their daily business they felt something was missing from their lives this feeling had been ever since they lost their other dear little dog,when the daughter was out walking she could smell autumn in the air as she walked she realised all the leaves had changed colour and also they were dropping to the ground like they did every year but for some reason she couldn’t put her finger on it just seemed different,this girl loved walking through the leaves just hearing the crisp and the crunch of the leaves on this cold path,she looked up and the birds were in the trees singing what seemed to be decibels louder then days or even weeks before she then turned her attention to find the plane she heard in the sky as she looked the sky was bright red the clouds were bigger then they had ever been,she just stood and watched the planes vapour trail as it got longer as it flew through the sky.
After watching this she continued her walk passing the wild ponies on the moor as they grazed on the grass and wild hedges,when she finally reached Princeton she greeted all the lovely local people she saw every morning she came here she spoke and Good Morning how are you?everyone looked and replied we are very well thank you for asking,she replied isn’t it cold this morning,the local postman replied certainly is my beauti can tell winters on the way,as she prepared for her walk home all she could think about was the loneliness her parents and her were feeling since losing their beloved dog she thought about this long and hard.
Away from this wonderful place on Dartmoor was a little boy looking for a forever home his days were very sad and lonely by himself he was not receiving the love and care he truly deserved especially now as his elderly owners has deceased,he was living with temporary foster owners but he had become very withdrawn and sad just hoping somewhere out there someone would come to his rescue and show him what love and devotion was the little boys name is Bryn.
Back on Dartmoor Louise had returned from her walk her loving caring mother was in the cold garden putting the washing out her said did you get everything you needed darling while you were there?she replied with yes mummy I did,so the two of them returned indoors when her mother loving put the kettle on the aga and waited for it to boil to have a cuppa.
Louise’s mum was a homemaker in later life her father Edward was an odd jobs man he loves tinkering around in his shed or man cave as he called it,when you walked into this shed it smelt amazing all you could smell was the way the lovely aged wood and when you stepped inside it was like entering aladdins cave there was so much stuff in there old garden machinery and old tools,oil cans it was a site for sore eyes.
Inside the family home it was so clean and such a loving family atmosphere pictures and ornaments made this home truly wonderful,when you entered you could feel the loving presence from the first moment you stepped inside the door,Marie loved doing her household chores from dusting to hoovering to washing and cooking she was the perfect mother and wife she had always worked hard to provide food on the family table the same as Edward he did the same they were good folk.
Louise sat and talked to Marie for a long time and then talker to her about the possibility of having another dog as she could see her mum was very sad over the loss of her previous little dog,Marie wasn’t sure about it and said she didn’t think it was a good idea but Louise had other plans,Louise was always close to her dad so went and had a chat with him and said she’d discussed it with her mum but her mum didn’t seem very keen on the idea but her dad thought it was a terrific idea as he was also deeply missing having a dog around the house.
When Louise went to bed she was very much on the case she started looking online for dogs in need of a loving home she was also brave enough to put an advertisement online so see if she could gain Andy interest.
The next morning while Louise was getting her room tidy and finished making the bed she was hoping at least one person would respond to her request,Meanwhile Marie was downstairs preparing breakfast for the family in the back of her mind she starting to think perhaps Louise was right maybe she should be open minded to having another dog in the house but because she was too proud she couldn’t let anyone know they were right it wasn’t her style.
Edward and Louise were waiting for Marie to join them so Louise could show her some of the dogs that were currently looking for their forever homes,Marie sat and looked with them they made a few enquiries and asked some questions even went to see a few but everyone they seemed to have seen or enquired about just never went any further,Marie then started to become very disheartened very quickly as she thought what’s wrong with us?why don’t we get the break?but Louise and Edward reassured her that the right one was out there and would come along when they least expected it,they said I’m sure there is a dog waiting for us just as much as we are waiting for them Marie did agree but everyday seemed be a long struggle Marie was becoming more and more disheartened and very sad she also had sleepless nights over it which caused her to have very down days which was starting to upset Louise and Edward too they even began looking on notice boards at local areas or shops and one day out of the blue they saw and advert for a young male dog to be rehomed they took the number and email address as soon as Edward got home he messaged the current owners,Marie was hoping it wasn’t another waste of time but Louise said she had to remain positive,Edward had received information about this little boy and also had a few pictures sent to him,Marie was now very excited and said they had to act fast and find out about this little boy that even thought they knew nothing about they felt happy all of sudden after all this sadness they had felt.
Edward sent a final message about this mystery boy that needed a home if was a bit up in the air to start with,then finally after weeks of waiting it was arranged that they could go and see him there was still some mystery about this little chap they don’t know his name yet,Edward and Louise are very excited about this but Marie being the mum is still very unsure they do try to reassure her but she will make her own mind up when she sees him,so one Thursday morning everyone sets off from Dartmoor to drive to Cornwall to meet this little character they’ve been told about,Marie is full of worry as in the back of her mind she thinks if they go all this way and it’s a wasted journey they will be full of disappointment again so their journey begins,it’s a cold windy morning not a cloud in the sky so the morning is off to a good start let’s hope it continues.
Meanwhile in a home in Cornwall there is a little Welsh terrier called Bryn who is just waking up as he yawns and stretches his legs and paws he slowly makes his way to the door to go out for his business before returning indoors for his breakfast and bowl of water,Bryn then goes over to lie down in front of the window in his mind it’s going to be another day waiting for something good to happen but little does little Bryn know there is a family eagerly travelling to meet him this could be perfect for everyone providing the current owners allow Bryn to go and have a happy life that he needs and deserves.
There is silence in the car on the way to Cornwall Marie is now getting very nervous as they only have another 20 miles to go Edward and Louise keep telling Marie everything will be fine she just needs to remain positive and be happy about the meeting.
Louise was sat in the car hoping that everything she worked hard to do by wanting her parents to have another dog was going to go to plan because if not she would feel bad over the situation which is something she doesn’t want to feel she wants everyone to be happy again like they were before.
So eventually they reach their destination they pull up outside there is a woman stood in the window awaiting for the family to get out,by now everyone’s expectations are high,so Edward,Marie and Louise get out of the car and make their way to the front door as Edward rings the doorbell two ladies approach the door but don’t appear to be very friendly one lady says I guess your here to see the dog?I guess you better come in then.
So everyone enters by this time Marie is not amused by the attitude of the woman but the only thing she is concerned about is meeting this mysterious boy they have heard so much about,as they head into the back garden Marie can see an adorable bundle of fluff he looks so sad and lonely,Marie says can I ask what’s this little boys name?quick as a flash they snap back and say Bryn the Welsh version it’s like Bryan but missing a letter Marie looks and says what an adorable name for the dear little boy,Edward says could you tell me a bit about him please?there reply is sure basically he needs a home where he can be loved and cared for appropriately as we no longer want him Marie says that’s fine we can do that we love animals,so Edward and Marie look and one another and say we’ve heard enough we wish to give Bryn a home a forever home we will love and adore him now and always,the women look and agree that they are suitable to have him the women get emotional but Marie is not fooled by it she says it’s crocodile tears Edward is signing the paperwork Bryns life is about to change for the better once everything is signed they say their goodbyes and leave as they walk to the car Bryn is looking at his new owners as if to say what’s going to happen to me now?as Edward opens the car door Bryn jumps straight in and doesn’t look back as they pull off this is a fresh start for the family but more importantly for Bryn.
As they are heading home Edward suggests pulling in somewhere and getting something to eat and drink Marie thinks that’s a brilliant idea as Bryn can stretch his legs and have a drink,while they are sat there at the pic nic tables everyone is making a fuss of this new boy and he doesn’t growl or bark.
They are now heading home again Bryn is fast asleep on the back seat of the car as they get home Bryn is a little nervous of his surroundings as he goes in the door Marie says go on darling make yourself at home this is your life now,Bryn quietly takes himself off so he can explore his new home with his new family,for the first time in years he actually feels safe and secure he has now landed on his feet after all this waiting it was worth it in the end.
As Marie and Edward were laying in bed little Bryn is laying in his bed too for the first time ever he knew he would be ok so then he snuggled down for a restful night,he woke in the night but Marie wasn’t very happy with him at this point but then when she got back into bed she realised it wasn’t his fault he was just trying to adapt to his new home,she felt awful and called him onto the bed he struggled so Edward got out and lifted him on the bed he then snuggled up with Marie and Edward and slept all night.
So now Bryn is living a very happy life being loved and cared for by Marie,Edward and Louise he is enjoying life like he should be he was just waiting for the right family they say things happen for a reason and this is true in this case.
This little playful pup needed a home and love which is something he had never received before but now he can look forward to lots of adventures with Marie,Edward and Louise and show love with each other in a loving happy family home and that is where he has gone to because I know for a fact that he couldn’t wish for better people to love and care for him he has well and truly landed on his feet now I hope they all have wonderful adventures together and share and give care to each other.
