"Oh no," he muttered under his breath. "I'm going to be late for work." He remembered setting his alarm clock at 0630 hours the day before, but it did not go off. Such incidents had never occurred before, but there was no time to waste. He got dressed and after a quick breakfast, rushed to the bus stop, but he was too late to catch his usual bus. The next bus would take about 10 minutes to arrive, but it would mean he would be late for work. Nathaniel sat down on the bench, frustrated. When the next bus arrived, he got on and sat at an empty seat, still fuming. Just then, he heard a voice in front of him. It was the bus driver.
"Look," he pointed outside the window. "There's a big crash up ahead. A bus flipped over." Nathaniel looked outside the window, and saw to his horror, his usual bus, the one he had missed. It was in flames. He could not believe his eyes. He realized that he would have become one of the victims had he been on the bus. Instantly, his anger disappeared. He called for the traffic police and fire brigade. They arrived swiftly, and managed to put out the fire. Thankfully, there were no casualties. Nathaniel got to work, where most of his colleagues were also late. His boss would also be delayed in arriving to work. Nathaniel was thankful for having narrowly escaped the worst. A few days later, he was commended for his quick thinking in notifying the authorities, which prevented casualties from the crash.
