I woke up that morning not feeling too good. As the day went on, I found myself turning to a colleague and asking, “Am I in the right place?”
But as we talked, I realised that my colleague wasn’t feeling too good either. Looking around, I began to notice that others around me were also having a difficult day.
That was when it hit me: I was not the only one struggling.
I had been so caught up in how I felt that I hadn’t considered that the people around me might be dealing with their own challenges, too. It made me reflect on how easily we can feel alone in our struggles, especially when we have no idea what others are going through.
We see people show up, attend meetings, do their work, and smile, and we assume they are fine. Yet, beneath the surface, they may be fighting battles they rarely speak about.
That day taught me to look beyond my own feelings and be more mindful of others. I may not know what someone is going through, just as they may know nothing about what I am facing.
Never assume you are the only one having a difficult day. Everyone is going through something you know nothing about.
Sometimes, all we need is a little more patience, kindness, and understanding—not because we know what others are facing, but because we don't.
