I often write about my experiences in foster care. I sometimes felt like an escape artist, trying to find a life that seemed out of reach. I knew what I wanted, but I struggled to fully understand and appreciate what I had when I finally received it. It took time and the support of many people around me to help me see things differently. I was never involved in any crime; I was in difficult circumstances and needed plenty of love and guidance.
