Unsinkable
This feels like a dark, feverish sea-ballad about obsession, isolation, and the way determination can become indistinguishable from madness. The recurring devotion to Jane gives the voyage an emotional center, while the ocean gradually becomes less a setting than a force eroding the narrator’s body and mind. I especially liked the strange, haunting images—“a million eyes of God,” the improvised vessel of “wood and flesh,” and the final revelation that he has somehow made it home. The rhyming, compressed lines sometimes make the narrative difficult to follow, but that dreamlike confusion also suits the narrator’s deterioration. The ending is bleak and memorable, with the return to Jane feeling more like transformation than rescue.

Hi! I just read your story, and I’m obsessed! Your writing is incredible, and I kept imagining how cool it would be as a comic. I’m a professional commissioned artist, and I’d love to work with you to turn it into one, if you’re into the idea, of course! I think it would look absolutely stunning. Feel free to message me on Disc0rd (elsaa_uww)
