“Have we attained freedom after fighting against the Britons 79 years back?”
This lament often echoes in the households where poverty shows no mercy, and the ignorance poisoning the peace with its deadly, invisible fangs every time, every day. Ironically, financially and socially well-to-do citizens aren’t spared from the grip of this commotion. Hi-tech office goers at lunch break while taking a bite from their favorite pizza or lunch packs, brag over this issue, with fake concerns. The ultimatum can’t be reached because there is no involvement of pains to eliminate pains.
Youngsters in an attempt to show off independence by puffing smoky rings from the burning nicotine at rock gigs, college canteens, cafeterias, and bars, too suffer from this dabble. Why? Because they are pampered with greasy dreams that are short lived, and induces anguish later.
If someone asks me, “Are you independent?”
My transparent answer will be ‘no’, a big ‘no’.
We have attained the political freedom several years back, secured our international boundaries with the dedicated artilleries, but, we are enslaved with the short, rosy outcomes. We worship selfish intents as our nearest gods that make us fall in their noiseless traps. We are helpless now!
We have the potential to push our cultural ethos beyond our short lived dreams, and roll off the legacy of helping each other with clean hearts. We need to address the independence with a broad narrative, “Making the dependent independent”
May there be books and notepads for every child born amidst a vagary.
Let the half-clad pavement dwellers enjoy the peaceful sleepless by satisfying hunger.
May there be supportive frameworks for self employability, and international exports.
Let the dignity be worn as crown irrespective of the caste, creed and race.
The mission becomes effective once we step out of our comfort zone, creating the ambience pleasant like petrichor by showering kindness, and making hearty contributions. If we vow to make a change now, we may witness later that every day has dawned with independence, embellished in cheerful endeavor.
