Story:
This is the story of Shivani and Vinay.
Shivani was pursuing her post-graduation in a college in Dehradun, while Vinay was a businessman — a complete stranger to her — until one chance meeting changed both their lives.
One day, Shivani came to Delhi to attend her friend’s wedding. After staying for two days, she was returning to Dehradun but couldn’t find a bus at the bus stand. She asked someone for help — and that “someone” happened to be Vinay, who was traveling from Delhi to Banaras for a business deal. That was their very first meeting.
Vinay helped Shivani find the right bus and even brought her a bottle of water. At his request, Shivani shared her phone number before leaving. Soon, she was back in college and immersed in her studies.
A few days later, late at night, she received a call.
“How are you?” the voice asked.
Shivani instantly recognized it — it was Vinay. Their conversations began from that day, and over time, they became good friends. With regular calls, a bond started to grow, and slowly, they began to like each other.
Eventually, Vinay proposed marriage. But at that time, Shivani was focused on her career and was also concerned about her father’s health. She asked Vinay to wait and promised to talk to her father first.
However, Vinay was under family pressure and later told her that he was getting married. Shivani didn’t stop him — she simply let him go. From that day, they stopped talking.
Time passed. Shivani completed her studies, but during this period, she suffered a huge personal loss — her father passed away. This brought a drastic change in her life. She moved to Delhi and continued her education there, keeping herself busy.
Then one day, she got another unexpected call.
“How are you?”
Just like last time, she replied, “I’m fine. You tell me.”
It was Vinay again.
As they talked, Vinay came to know about her struggles. But this time, Shivani refused to continue speaking with him, saying her marriage was already fixed. Vinay, however, requested to meet her. After much persuasion, Shivani agreed. They planned to meet in Delhi — three years after their last conversation.
When they finally met, Shivani learned something shocking — Vinay and his wife had divorced.
