Once upon a time in a small, sun-drenched village, there lived a young boy named Kittu. Known for his curiosity and adventurous spirit.
One warm summer night, Kittu found himself sneaking through the village fields under the cover of darkness. The sweet scent of ripe watermelons led him to a farmer’s patch, where he spotted the largest, juiciest watermelon he had ever seen. The moonlight made it glisten, and Kittu’s eyes sparkled with anticipation. Quietly, he reached for the watermelon, his fingers brushing against its cool, smooth surface.
Just as he was about to lift it, he heard a rustling noise behind him. Startled, Kittu turned around and saw the farmer, a burly man with a stern face, glaring at him. Before Kittu could react, the farmer shouted, “Thief!” The village lights flickered on, and the scene erupted into chaos. Kittu’s heart raced as he tried to escape, but the farmer was fast on his heels.
In a panic, Kittu sprinted through the fields, the farmer’s angry shouts growing louder behind him. He dashed toward his home, desperate to get away. Reaching his house, Kittu flung open the door, dashed inside, and slammed it shut. He fumbled with the lock, his hands shaking. As he secured the door, he shouted.
Suddenly, the pounding on the door stopped. The silence was eerie. Kittu cautiously peered through a crack in the door, only to find that the farmer was gone. He sighed in relief and leaned against the door, trying to calm his racing heart. But as he turned around, he saw something that made his blood run cold: the inside of his house was not his own. The walls were covered with watermelon rind, and the floor was sticky with juice.
Just as he was about to scream, Kittu jolted awake in his own bed, drenched in sweat. He looked around his room, the morning sunlight streaming through the window. It had all been a dream—or so he thought. Kittu sighed in relief and chuckled to himself, feeling safe in his own room. But as he walked downstairs for breakfast, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something strange had happened in the dream… and that perhaps, just maybe, it was a warning of a watermelon adventure still to come.
The end.
