The alarm rang at 6 in the morning. Swastik turned off the alarm,moved his wife, Anima's hand,which was around his chest, and sat up. 

"Anima, get up darling."

He then gave a tender kiss on her lips.

"Aah, i havent brushed yet!"

"Dont tell all this nonsense to me! We have been together for so long so such things dont matter to me Anu. You should be happy that your husband still kisses you while other's wives complain that their husbands are no longer romantic after marriage."

 Anima imitates him and then gets up from the bed.

Anima comes out of the shower and while she dresses herself Swastik sings," Ek ladki bheegi bhaagi si soti raaton mei jaagi si mili ek ajnabee se koi aage na peeche tum hi kaho ye koi baat hai....hmmmmm ek ladki bheegi bhaagi sii....." and hugs his wife from the back and watches her as she puts kohl in her eyes,wears her earrings, the bangles and puts sindoor. Swastik's eyes shine by the wonderful sight of his beautiful wife dressing up. Anima raises her eyebrows indicating what has happened to him while he was drooling over her. 

" How come you look so beautiful everyday! I cant resist myself from staring at you, darling."

"Its your shiny eyes that make me glow Swastik."

Both went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Seeing Anima's hair falling infront her eyes ,Swastik brought a clutcher and tied her hair.

"I dont understand why dont you tie your hair!"

She smiled and said," If I tie my hair by myself  then who will tie my hair when they will come infront my eyes?" and shied away.

He then recited the lyrics written by Javed Akhtar from the film SAAGAR.

"Chehra hai ya chaand khila hai

Zulf ghanehri shaam hai kya

Saagar jaisi aankhon wali

Ye toh bataa tera naam hai kya."

Both gave a laugh and hugged each other.

"What beautiful lyrics did the songs have in the past, right Anima?"

"No wonder! By the way I hope you remember today our neighbour, Chatterjee is coming in the evening with his family." 

"Ya ya i do. I will look after the food and you just arrange everything."

"Okay. You know I love their daughter,Piya. She is so sweet and cute. Isnt she 8?"

"Yeah. If you want a baby then c'mon lets go inside.",he winks at her.

"Stop daydreaming and c'mon cut the veggies."

It was around 7 pm when the Chatterjees arrived.

Swastik welcomed them while Anima was getting ready.

"Anima, they have arrived. Come out yaar."

She came out from the room.

"Areey I was confused which saree to wear."

"You will always look gorgeous my darling.

 "Hssh.. Swastik!Guests are here and you are talking like this!"

Mr Chatterjee said," No no its absolutely fine. We all know Mr Roy is very frank and funny and most importantly how much he loves you."

"Kuch bhi" and she shies away.

"Guys tell us what will you have?Coffee,tea, cold drinks? Do you want cookies Piya?"

"Wait wait Swastik .You entertain them and let me bring the food."

"Let me help you bhabhiji."

"Umm okay Babita .Come."

Babita and Anima were in the kitchen while the male members in the drawing room.

"Bhabhiji  its a bliss to see you guys so much in love."

"You know Babita, people say that after marriage wife becomes controlling and dominating and the husbands become bored of the marriage. Relationship is not only about love. There is friendship, small efforts, understanding, encouraging each other and lot of other stuffs like these. Swastik is so funny that I cant be bored of him and he is smart enough to make his own decisions. I may suggest something but I mustn't forget that I am in our home and not running a puppet show. As we age we tend to reduce expressing our love,but is it necessary?Why to hide love?Love is so important in any realtionship. There are problems in a marriage but if we both support each other then nothing can go wrong."

Meanwhile in the drawing room, Mr Chatterjee asked Swastik " You guys are so lucky and so much in love even after so many years of marriage."

" Isnt that lady wonderful? She is so beautiful that I can stare at her all day. But the most beautiful part is how she understands me so much. She never asked anything from me. Nothing! People say wives are demanding but my Anima isnt. She is smart ,helpful and brave enough to face all the problems. Rather she was the one who kept me motivated. I am a timid person and it was her who always kept me motivated and encouraged me and adviced me whenever I needed one. She loves me a lot.  You tell, all the small efforts  that she makes for me isnt that love? If small efforts, understanding, encouraging each other isnt love then what is love!"

 

Babita and Mr Chatterjee separately said Anima and Swastik respectively,"Yess,true indeed. Isnt your anniversary tomorrow ?"

Anima and Swastik replied,"Yes. It will be 51 years of togetherness and I still cant wait to grow more old with the wonderful person I married."
