Waiting to get something is difficult. Even more if it is for someone. Fate is unpredictable which gives you beautiful memories or sometimes the memories you don't want to.
My fate bought me closer to the man I wanted to be with in my life. But the only problem is he doesn't want to be with me.
I am Inaya, a businesswomen. Getting into my dream carrier was easy. I have been in love with a man from my childhood days. I never thought he would feel the same for me. Marriage was something I never dreamed of.
But fate changed my life. I married Ayaan, my first love before a year. It was arranged by our parents. Turns out he is neither interested in marriage nor me. I have been trying to be nice to him.
Seeing him everyday is good but he never talks to me, I am continuing to do what I do. Maybe someday he will accept me. Today is our one year wedding anniversary. I am making his favourite dishes and I know he won't remember it.
Just as I finished he came inside the house.
"Hi.... Dinner is ready." I said with a smile
He didn't utter a word and came back after changing his clothes within 5 minutes. I served him food. We usually don't sit together to have food. So I just waited for him to finish.
"Sit" Ayaan said
"What?"
"We will have dinner together today. I told you to sit."
I was shocked to hear that and I couldn't believe when he served me food. He wouldn't utter more than a word to me. This is the first time we are having dinner together.
"I don't know why you did everything to me when I didn't care about you. But I think it's time to change. I shouldn't have taken out my hatred on you. You didn't do anything wrong, it was my parents mistake. I didn't wanna accept a life which they forced me. I thought accepting this would prove them right. But I was wrong, they choosed me a right girl. I am sorry for all my mistakes. I know a sorry won't fix everything, but from now onwards I will try to make it up to you." Ayaan said
I starred at him in shock, I never expected this in my life.
"We can change it now." I said smiling widely
"Thank you and the food is good. Do you love cooking a lot? You always cook so well."
"No..."
"What?"
"I don't like cooking. I learned it for you. I wanted to cook for you everyday."
"I always eat at home because of you. Thank you for learning this. But why?"
"I have been in love with you from school days."
"I love you too..... I am sorry for making you wait."
For the first time in my life I saw love in his eyes. He was usually cold but never said something that would hurt me. That was one of the reason I never left him.
"And Happy anniversary....." He added
"You remembered?"
"This is for you." He passed a gift box to me
It was diary
"I know you like journalling a lot. From today I want you to have happy memories about us. It's a new beginning." He said
Maybe waiting wasn't too bad. It takes time for some things to happen
