A long line of travelers were waiting at the airline desk to rebook after their flight had been cancelled. Rhonda was the only agent available, and she was handling each passenger with care. Just then, a man barged to the front, slammed his ticket down and shouted, "I must be on this flight and it has to be first class." Rhonda remained calm and replied, "Sir, I understand your concern. I'll assist you, but as you can see, there are others who are also in the line, and I need to assist them first." Hearing this, the man's face turned red with fury.
"What?" he snapped. "Do you even know who I am?" Still, Rhonda remained calm. Without missing a beat, she picked up the microphone.
"Attention to all passengers," she announced. "We have a passenger here who doesn't know who he is. If anyone can help identify him, please proceed to gate 42." The crowd erupted in laughter while the man's face turned bright red with embarrassment.
"Screw you," he snapped furiously. Rhonda, still smiling, said, "Sir, I understand your frustration, but you'll still need to get in line for that."
"That's right," a passenger chipped in. "We're all waiting. You shouldn't cut in line." The entire line cheered as the man stormed off, both in fury and embarrassment. Finally, Rhonda was assigned a colleague to assist her with the long queue, and together, they managed to expedite the process and cleared the crowd in the fastest possible time.
