FAMILY TRADITION
The Smith Family is known in their small town for their deep rooted traditions and values. A tradition that they have been used to is to gather under an old oak tree for all occassions, a tree that has been planted by their great-great-grandfather. The tree symbolizes strength, unity, and the passing down of family values from one generation to the next.
THE DISAGREEMENT
This year however, the Smith Family faces a challenge. The younger generation led by young Timmy, begins to question the importance of such traditions. Timmy wonders why they should continue with old customs when the world around them is changing so fast. This created a tension between Timmy, and his grandfather, Mr. Smith, who upholds such tradition so dearly.
THE GRANDFATHER'S STORY
One evening, Mr. Smith sat down with Timmy and told him the story of the oak tree. He explained how the tree have witnessed generations of their family through good times and the rough times. The tree grew strong because it was valued, nurtured with love, care, and respect - values which the Smith family upholds. He shared how each and every member of the family has added and contributed something to the family traditions, making them live meaningful lives.
THE LESSON IN THE WOODS
Timmy decides to explore the woods surrounding the oak tree. During his adventure, he encountered various animals, each of them symbolizing different family values - kindness, responsibility, honesty, and courage. Through these encounters, Timmy understood why such values are important, not just for himself but for the family as a whole.
THE NEW TRADITION
When Timmy returned from the woods, he had a new idea. He suggested the family to create a new tradition, one that honors their values, but also incorporates something from the modern world. Together as one family, they decided to plant a new tree next to the old aok, symbolizing the growth of their values, and the blending of old and new.
THE FAMILY'S PROMISE
The story ends with the Smith family gathered around both trees. They make a promise to continue nurturing their values while being open to new ideas. The oak tree and the sapling stand side by side, representing the strength of their roots and the hope for the future.
EPILOGUE
Years later, Timmy, now also a grandfather, tells his grandchildren the story of both trees. The family tradition continues, evolving with each generation, but always rooted in the values that have guided them through the years.
