THE UNSAID BETWEEN US :
A Tale of Unseen Love
Chapter 1: The Solitary Artist
Kai was a boy whose silence spoke volumes. His world was filled with the subtle scratch of pencils on paper and the quiet rustling of sketchbooks being opened and closed. For as long as he could remember, he had lived in the confines of his own mind, his emotions and thoughts spilling out onto the pages he meticulously filled with intricate drawings. Each sketch was a piece of his soul, a glimpse into the mind of a man who preferred the company of his art to the chaos of human interaction.
It wasn’t that he didn’t like people; he simply didn’t feel the need for them. His life was a quiet routine of work, solitude, and art. He would rise early, when the world was still shrouded in the gentle embrace of dawn, and lose himself in the flow of his pencil, creating worlds and characters that only he could see. His apartment was small and sparse, with the exception of the countless sketchbooks piled in every corner, each one a testament to his introspective life.
But all of that began to change the day he met Tara.
They crossed paths at an art exhibition, one that Kai had reluctantly attended at the insistence of his colleague. He had arrived late, hoping to slip in unnoticed and leave just as quietly, but fate had other plans. As he stood in front of a particularly striking painting, lost in the vivid strokes and colors, he felt a presence beside him. Turning, he saw a woman with a radiant smile, her eyes twinkling with curiosity and amusement.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” she had said, her voice light and musical.
Kai nodded, his words failing him as he took in her lively presence. She was dressed in a vibrant dress, her hair cascading in waves over her shoulders. There was something magnetic about her, something that drew him in despite his natural inclination to retreat.
“I’m Tara,” she introduced herself, extending a hand. “You must be the mysterious artist I’ve heard so much about.”
Kai blinked, taken aback. He wasn’t used to being recognized, let alone approached so boldly. He hesitated for a moment before shaking her hand. “Kai,” he replied simply.
From that moment on, Tara iseemed to be everywhere he went. She was a whirlwind of energy, her laughter filling the quiet spaces that Kai had once cherished. She had a way of turning every mundane activity into an adventure, dragging Kai out of his comfort zone and into a world that was bright and unpredictable. They would spend hours wandering through art galleries, talking about everything from philosophy to the meaning of life. Tara had opinions on everything, and she expressed them with a passion that was both endearing and exhausting.
Kai found himself drawn to her like a moth to a flame. She was everything he wasn’t—vivacious, spontaneous, and unafraid to express herself. She made him feel alive in a way he hadn’t felt in years. Before long, he found himself looking forward to their meetings, his heart skipping a beat whenever he saw her name flash on his phone. It wasn’t long before he realized he was falling for her.
But Tara was not without her complications. She had a past that she couldn’t quite shake off, a relationship that had left her heart bruised and cautious. She would talk about her ex in passing, her voice tinged with a sadness that made Kai’s heart ache. It was clear to him that she hadn’t moved on, that there was a part of her that was still clinging to the memories of what could have been.
Kai knew all of this, yet he couldn’t help but hope that one day she would see him the way he saw her. He believed, foolishly perhaps, that if he just loved her enough, if he was patient and understanding, she would eventually let him in. He told himself that what they had was enough, even as he watched her eyes glaze over with longing whenever she talked about her past.
Chapter 2: Arika’s Gentle Presence
Amidst the whirlwind that was Tara, there was Arika. Kai first met her in an art exhibition. Both of them were on the same point of view and same opinion . Arika was interested in his opinion . So she tried to reach out him . And fortunately Kai also tried to talk to her more often. They both talked to each other more often and became closer and closer day by day . From that moment the world seemed more colorful for Kai . Something changed entirely in his mind and his emotions .
One evening Kai fell from stairs and had a little injury . He was taken to hospital . Arika was waiting for him in the park . It was getting late for her so she called him again and again . But with no replies she was tensed . And finally Kai looked on the phone and called back and said,"Hello , Arika ". Arika replied , " where were you ? Are you alright ? " . Kai replies ," don't worry I'm fine ". But he got interrupted by the nurse who was saying him that he will have to stay there for the next day and Arika heard it . And she said ," are you at hospital ? What happened to you ? Am i still a stranger to you that you hide all of this ? " . Kai replies, " no , I just didn't want to stress you " . Arika replies ," fine , I will meet you tomorrow there ". She visits him and tells him about her concern for him and how much she was worried . And eventually she said that he is the only true friend she had . She waits for him to discharge the next day and they walks out together to Kai’s home .
Someone from Kai’s class saw them together and told all about this to Tara . Tara didn’t react to it and tried to show like she doesn't care about him totally . But in contrary one of Tara’s friend said Arika all about Kai’s past with Tara and adds up that he still loves her . So , that Arika step back and leave him . But she confronts Kai and he tells everything happened to him . After hearing everything Arika believed in him and got angry on Tara . She started thinking that Tara is actually at fault and comforted him .
One day while sitting on a bench together in a park Arika said that Kai is the best person she met so far . He is the only person who treated her well respectfully . She never had any close friends because everyone thinks of her as a boring person . But Kai said to her that she is the best person he ever met , the only person who truly understands him and he wants her to stay like this forever . In reply Arika said , " you are different, you don't ask me to be my girlfriend. You are a good person from your heart , please never change yourself " . He tries to change the question by saying that he find someone who can understand him like her . Arika adds up that she also want someone good like him .
In that moment, he realized that Arika was different from anyone he had ever met. She understood his true feelings not just as something to be admired, but as a way of expressing the deepest parts of one’s soul. It was a realization that left him feeling both exhilarated and confused.
He tried to ignore it, to push down the feelings that were starting to bubble up inside him. He told himself that it was just a fleeting attraction, that he was simply fascinated by her intellect and passion. After all, he was supposed to be in love with Tara, wasn’t he? But the more time he spoke to Arika, the more he found himself drawn to her in ways he couldn’t quite explain.
Chapter 3: The Unspoken Connection
As the days turned into weeks, Kai’s confusion only grew. He found himself torn between two very different women—Tara, who was like a blazing fire, all-consuming and intense, and Arika, who was like a serene lake, calm and steady. His feelings for Tara were complicated, tangled up in a mix of admiration, desire, and frustration. He wanted to be the one to heal her, to be the man she could finally love without reservation.
But Arika… Arika was different. She didn’t need him to be anything other than who he was. She didn’t demand his attention, didn’t try to change him or draw him out of his shell. With her, he felt a sense of peace, a connection that was deeper than anything he had ever known. It was as if she could see right through him, right down to the parts of himself he kept hidden from the world.
One afternoon, Kai found himself alone with Arika again. They were at a park, sitting on a bench under a large oak tree, watching the leaves sway gently in the breeze. They sat in comfortable silence for a while, each lost in their own thoughts. Kai glanced at Arika, who was staring off into the distance, her face serene. He felt a sudden urge to tell her everything, to pour out all the confusion and emotions that were swirling inside him. But he held back, unsure of what to say, unsure of what he even felt.
Instead, he took out his sketchbook and began to draw. It was something he often did when words failed him, a way to express what he couldn’t put into sentences. He lost himself in the familiar rhythm of pencil on paper, his hand moving almost of its own accord as he captured the scene in front of him—the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves, the soft curve of Arika’s smile as she watched a group of children playing nearby.
After a while, Arika turned to him, her eyes curious. “What are you drawing?” she asked softly.
Kai hesitated, then handed her the sketchbook. Arika took it, her fingers brushing lightly against his as she did. She looked at the drawing, her eyes widening slightly as she took in the details—the gentle lines that formed a beautiful garden , butterflies flying all over and the the centre she saw herself. Arika was shocked at this moment . And she tried to ask him about the picture.
Before she even started to speak Kai took his chance . He looked in her eyes and softly said ," its you , you are the one I truly care about Arika . Will you give me a place in your heart as you are in mine ?" . Arika replies ," You are already in there , I love you too ". Kai hugs her tightly crying happily on her shoulders. Arika comforted him by saying, " Don't worry , I'm only yours . I will never leave you ".
THE END
