It was an ordinary morning in October. This month has always been controversial in our latitudes in terms of weather. In the morning around 6 o'clock it is very cold and you chatter your teeth while putting on several layers of clothes, realizing that by noon you will no longer need them, because then the temperature rises to 20 degrees. Here we call this time "Gypsy Summer".
I walked to the office, feeling the cold air break through my clothes and playfully play with the receptors of my skin, and under my feet the colorful autumn leaves that fell from the trees were scraping. They had formed a colorful carpet as far as I could see. I enjoyed this beautiful palette and the silence that is like an ointment early in the morning before the city woke up and the noise of people's speech and roaring cars finally took over it. I dreamed that the middle of the day would come to enjoy the sun's rays and take as much heat from them as possible. Suddenly, a thought flashed in my head about the upcoming meeting with representatives of an important company, which for a long time had been our strategic partner in the development of systems and programs for administration employees. I quickened my pace and when I arrived at the office, I went straight to the conference room. I made hot mint tea with more sugar and, together with a few colleagues, patiently waited for our distinguished guests.
Soon they entered the hall and sat down in their seats. Observing the atmosphere, I thought about how even at a round table, some people always seem to be able to sit in the most important place. Such was the director of the important company. He was dressed in a stylish gray jacket with a carefully folded blue handkerchief, an immaculate white shirt that literally shone in the hall like a second sun, and lead glittered in his eyes, a sign that he was a determined man and had a lot of experience. Only the silver brooch, which I could not identify at the other end of the table, in terms of form and content, was somehow out of place, although it was very stylish at first glance.
We started talking and discussing the work topic, but my eyes kept following the silver brooch that took an unnatural pose on his jacket. She had swayed slightly diagonally. I said to myself:
- Well, man, the pin on the brooch has shifted, what are you looking for? Focus!
However, the brooch did not leave my mind and it seemed to me that at one time it moved a millimeter or two, but I attributed it to my rich imagination. 15-20 minutes passed, and the brooch became more and more distorted... I became too curious. I wondered if he was moving it on purpose? Maybe with a remote control? Or does the brooch have its own miniature motor?
The colleague next to me sensed my distraction and followed my gaze, in turn fixing his eyes on the iconic brooch. I saw his face turn pale with surprise, and after a few seconds he said in a trembling voice:
- Excuse me, sir, hmm... I think you have a stink insect on your jacket... this... the flying insect... You know...
There was a grave silence, in the midst of which only the beating of our hearts and the rumbling of blood in our temples could be heard. We all looked at each other with faces frozen in surprise and embarrassment...
I couldn't help myself and giggled. Suddenly, the whole hall burst into laughter. It was good that the director of the important company had a sense of humor and with a casual gesture shook the silver brooch from his jacket. The insect rolled clumsily on the floor, after a few seconds spread its wings and flew out with the characteristic buzz out of the window. The whole hall was empty...
I was thinking how nice it is to be a silver brooch that has wings!
What a wonderful October day!
