After a terrible storm destroyed a life we once considered our everything no one knew what was next me my brother Calyle, and sister Nevaya looked for mom and dad to quickly get us back on track as being preteens and teenagers we never thought they wouldn't know what would be next for us, the beautiful house was gone the nice van, the only things we had left were a little bit of clothes a pair of shoes and each other, we all sat in total frustration waiting on a rescue team to save us from the waters the storm brought and wiped out everything even our neighborhood, as I looked with tears in my eyes I saw our longtime neighbors angry hurt and sad waiting for help to. Finally after 7 long hours which seemed like 7 years the rescue boats were here, I saw many of us being rescued, we were all so excited to see those flashing blue and white lights after all the tears and screams of pain from the losses we all were clapping and cheering the rescue boats on to finally be here to save us, we had never been so happy to leave this place we once seen as our everything that's now unrecognizable.
As we were all rescued we ended up at a shelter and there we saw so many people we knew from the neighborhood and kids from school everyone had a face of hurt but the look of relief, we saw Mrs.Cynt from our neighborhood church who approached us with hugs and comforting words I overheard her tell my parents that she lost everything except herself, you see Mrs.Cynt lost her husband years ago while they were young to a drunk driver and she's been happily single ever since, that's what she always say when she's speaking at any neighborhood events and since she's an elder and has been in this neighborhood for years everyone loves to hear her speak about her life and her encouraging words, her spirit lit the whole place up when she started singing an old school gospel song “no more weeping,” that everyone joined in singing, It was something about her voice that raised the vibration of the whole building, and at that moment I started to notice what was missing from us all, and that was joy and contentment for having each other and only lacking material things none of us thought about that because all of us was focused on what we didn't have we hadn't thought about who we have and we all have each other and everything we lose can be replaced and that was,
The Missing Piece.
A short story of hope and faith,
