Anaya, a 16-year-old girl, was curious, artistic, and slightly introverted. She had recently moved into a new house with her parents after learning that her grandmother had fallen ill.
One rainy afternoon, while exploring the town, Anaya wandered into an old antique shop. As she looked around, something caught her eye — a silver-framed mirror that gleamed softly under the dim light. It looked ancient yet strangely beautiful.
Curious, she asked the shopkeeper about it. The man’s expression changed instantly.
“This mirror is not for everyone,” he warned.
But Anaya was determined. Despite his repeated warnings, she insisted on buying it. Finally, the shopkeeper gave in, and Anaya brought the mirror home, placing it carefully in her bedroom.
That night, as she was taking a bath, she suddenly heard a loud thud downstairs — as if someone had fallen. Startled, she rushed down, but everything looked perfectly normal. Her parents were asleep. The house was silent.
Still shaken, she went back to her room. When she glanced at the mirror, she froze. Her reflection wasn’t copying her movements immediately — it smiled a second later. Petrified, Anaya screamed and threw the mirror aside.
After some time, she tried to calm herself and eventually fell asleep.
The Dream
A few hours later, Anaya had a strange dream. She saw flashes of another life — a stage, music, and applause. In the dream, she was still Anaya, but older — a famous singer from the 1920s who had died mysteriously. The dream felt so real that when she woke up, her hands were trembling.
Unable to shake off the feeling, she grabbed her sketchbook and began drawing everything she had seen — the stage, the people, the face that looked exactly like hers.
Over the next few days, more dreams followed. Slowly, Anaya realized the truth: she was reliving the memories of her past life.
The Hidden Secret
One night, as the dreams grew more vivid, she saw the truth — her death had not been an accident. In her past life, she had been murdered by her own mother. The woman couldn’t bear the taunts of people who said she was living off her daughter’s fame and money.
When Anaya awake, her head spun as flashes of her past overwhelmed her. Tears rolled down her cheeks, and she fainted.
Half an hour later, she opened her eyes and saw the mirror lying beside her — still whole, still luminous. Then she heard a gentle voice coming from it.
“I didn’t mean to harm you,” it said softly.
“I only wanted to show you the truth. I am you — trapped inside this mirror. Now that you know what happened, I can finally be free.”
As the voice faded, the mirror shimmered and then became still.
The Ending
The next morning, sunlight streamed through her window and hit the mirror. For the first time, Anaya saw her reflection clearly — calm, confident, and at peace. She smiled at the mirror, and this time, it smiled back.
With new determination, she decided to follow her passion for music again. She picked up her notebook and wrote down the title for her first song-
“The Girl in the Mirror.”
