Let me introduce you to my cat—my lil fur animal, my ride-or-die, my shadow with whiskers. He’s not just a pet, he’s my "support system with an attitude problem."
First thing you should know: he’s not an outside cat. No ma’am, not him. If the great outdoors had a Yelp page, he’d give it zero stars. He believes grass is suspicious, wind is rude, and bugs are beneath him. He prefers the comfort of home where the Wi-Fi is strong, the treats are plentiful, and the litter box is *always*… and I mean *always* clean.
Oh, that litter box—don’t get me started. He will NOT—under any circumstances—poop or pee without making a full Broadway entrance to inform me first. You know how most cats just do their business and go? Not mine. He will strut in front of me, purring like he’s got a secret, then walk toward his box slow like a soap opera villain. If I don’t follow? He stops mid-step, looks over his shoulder, and meows like, *“Excuse me? Where’s my audience?”*
And once he’s done, here he comes again, rubbing against my leg, practically dragging me over like, *“Your services are required, peasant.”* Heaven forbid I don’t scoop it immediately—he will sit right beside the box, staring at me like I just committed a crime against humanity.
Now, let’s talk about bath time. Most people say, “Cats clean themselves, you don’t need to bathe them.” Well, those people have never met my cat. My lil fur animal gets a monthly spa day—shower, nail trim, and yes, sometimes I shave his fur down. Do you think he appreciates my grooming efforts? No. He acts like I’ve personally ruined his social life. The look he gives me says, *“Wow… you’ve made me ugly. I can’t show my face like this.”* Then he spends the rest of the day walking past me dramatically, tail flicking, like a soap opera diva after a betrayal.
He’s also a rule follower… with his own twist. He already knows animals aren’t allowed in the kitchen, so when I’m cooking, he sits *right* at the kitchen door like a security guard on break. He doesn’t cross the line—oh no—he just sits there watching, knowing full well he’s allowed to observe but never participate.
As for furniture? Forget it. Beds, sofas, and clean clothes are strictly human territory. He’s got his own furniture because, in this house, the fur stays off the good stuff.
But then there’s his little crime habit—he’s a sock thief. Every time he sneaks into my son’s room, there he is, kicking socks around like he’s in the World Cup. I don’t know if it’s a sport for him or some kind of trophy collecting, but I’m starting to wonder if he’s building a secret sock kingdom somewhere.
And when I leave the house? Oh, that’s a whole production. He’ll walk with my spouse to the screen door, stand there like he’s sending me off to war, and watch until I’m gone. But even then—those lil paws will *never* touch the outside. He’s an indoor royalty, and the outside world is for peasants.
For all his sass and rules, he’s my shadow. If I’m cooking, folding laundry, or just moving from room to room, he’s there. He’s my emotional support animal with a full-time job of keeping me company… and making sure I never forget who’s really in charge.
