Mia stood on the platform, shivering in the cold night air. The last train was running late, and she sighed, glancing at her phone. No messages. No calls. She pulled her coat tighter around her, feeling alone in the city that once felt like home.

Then, a voice.

"Missed the train too?"

She turned to see a man, about her age, hands in his pockets, smiling at her. His dark eyes were warm despite the chilly night. She nodded. "Yeah. Seems like it."

"I'm Jake," he said.

"Mia," she replied.

They talked, at first about the train, then about their favorite books, music, and the little things that made them who they were. Minutes turned into an hour. The train finally arrived, but neither of them wanted to say goodbye.

As they stepped on, Jake hesitated. "You know, I think missing that train was the best thing that happened to me today."

Mia smiled. "Me too."

And as the train doors closed, a new journey had just begun. ??
