It has been centuries since a particular realm within the dark forest was discovered in the Nefarious Kingdom. The Nelfarians referred to it as the Vittles Realm or the Realm of Food Supplies. Many stories, myths, and legends grew throughout the kingdom as to why it suddenly appeared, but no one truly knew what had happened except for the Goddess, who had encountered a strange giant a long time before.
Giants were one of the creatures that Pollaris, the Queen, had brought to the kingdom. But only a few of them have the confidence to roam around the unfamiliar continent of the land of the Elegant Darkness (Nefarious Kingdom) despite their size, and one of the said giants who dared to face their new homeland was a cook who wanted to learn more about the kingdom's woods, vegetation, livestock, and anything else that may be edible. He had discovered many things and also assisted others in need till his feet got him in front of a wood that was so dark that he couldn't see anything from within.
The woodland was known as the Dark Forest because it was inhabited by ferocious hallows known as the Lyce. Lyce is a creature of darkness that has skeletal arms and a face that is akin to the undead. Their bones are ash in color, with a transparent dark cloth that covers their naked bodies. They also have lavender eyes that can also differentiate them from other Hallows, who come from the abyss and darkness and also carry a dual-sided scythe.
Oblivious to the fact of how dangerous the place was, the giant proceeded inside, completely unaware of the peril that awaited him. As the giant walks farther inside, dead trees, plants, and foul odors engulf him, along with a sense of unease in his surroundings, as if countless eyes were monitoring his every step. Then, after a short while, the giant was indeed assaulted by countless hallows as soon as he entered the middle part of the forest.
The giant cook cried out for help, but no one could hear him, so he was forced to rely on his strength. And somehow, he manages to escape the Lyces and hides inside a massive tree, where light reflects, the reason why the hallows were unable to assault the giant any further, as they feared any source of light.
But even though the giant managed to avoid death's door for a little while, he was well aware that his life would not last that long. A memory of his journey from the beginning to the current moment as a cook passes across his head. He has no regrets since he lives his life the way he wants to. Days have passed, and the giant is still alive yet he’s famished, mumbling different delicacies he discovered from different countries he had been to. Later on, his mumbling ended up to a weep.
How did things come to this?
What went wrong?
Where are the people I used to help?
Why isn't anyone coming to rescue me?
I'm starving.
All I want to do is cook and eat with people who enjoy my food.
I don't have any regrets about coming here, but I do still want to live...
I want to live...
Those are the giant's final thoughts, which were heard by Myressei, the goddess of death and darkness. Out of sympathy for the dead, which she rarely felt, Myressei gave the giant a second chance to serve those in need and starving, turning the corpse into a living dead, performing necromancy, and making a contract with the dead giant’s soul that he would live in the condition of guarding the realm that the goddess created, extending the region where the Lyce could not reach the giant, as well as the path to the giant's residence so that travelers could reach the realm without fear of harm they might sustain from any creatures inside the forest. Along with this was another condition that once the giant broke the contract, his existence, along with the realm, would be erased from Allos Kosmos and everyone's mind.
Since then, the giant cook has lived with the satisfaction of guiding the lost and hungry travelers to the Land of Vittles.
