"Welcome to my humble emporium atop a mountain," said an entity.

"Wow! What a view," said Sarah.

"Impressive, isn't it? But this is nothing - wait until you see inside. This is no ordinary store. We have the most vast collection of items and oddities in the world," softly whispered a voice in the distance.

"Who are you?" exclaimed Sarah in a frightened tone.

"Please don't be scared, Sarah. I am here to help, but I cannot tell you who I am."

"Why?" said Sarah softly.

"Please enter, and all will become apparent," said the entity.

Sarah entered the building with caution and a side of haste.

After entering with no problems, Sarah was relieved; she could finally take a deep breath.

Is that...

"Yes," said the entity. "It's your favourite food being prepared fresh."

A crispy, warm, all-butter croissant with a fruit smoothie and strawberry jam appeared in front of Sarah as she approached a distant marble countertop.

"Wow! That smells AMAZING!" exclaimed Sarah, in a tone so excited it perked up the ears of passers-by.

"But wait... how do you know my favourite food, and why is this room so dark?"

"Well, Sarah, unfortunately, the building ran out of power a while back. But fear not, for we have some lanterns in the back. I will bring one to you," the entity said, holding back a chilled stutter.

Sarah, nodding in agreement, took the first bite - and it was heaven! She could not stop biting, chewing, gnawing, and crunching. Sarah was so lost in the food that she had almost forgotten about the cold, dark room surrounding her and how the entity could know how she loved croissants. But she didn't care. As Sarah took the final bite, the entity came back.

"Here is the lantern, Sarah. Let me turn it on for you."

Sarah spun around in glee, excited to finally be able to see more of the treasures beholden by the entity and his shop.

As the entity turned on the lantern, the room shrank to a simple cube. Sarah sat in shock for a moment before feeling something drip down her face. It was jam, right? Sarah assumed. But just to be safe, she spun around to find the remains of the croissant.

Sarah stared for an instant and then let out an ear-curdling screech. It was blood. And Sarah, in a bloody mess, took a moment to compose herself before realizing whose blood it was. It was a person - someone she had been in the room with. The entity, perhaps?

Sarah couldn't process this. She looked around in horror, and to her dismay, she was trapped in a white room with one single light source - a lantern hanging from the ceiling. She had no intention of finding out who she had torn apart, so she turned off the lantern, closed her eyes, and began softly singing to mask the cries of the entity.

The end.
