The Dark Rainforest
On a cold September morning, a middle-aged man named Moe decides to take a walk. He wants to clear his mind and get away from the everyday noises at home. Moe’s wife, Mary agreed he can go on a walk to clear his mind. His children, Joe who is 10 and George who is 7 can get pretty loud. As Moe is walking around his neighborhood, he decides to walk past a nearby rainforest that not many have explored. There are rumors of a large monster that lives in there, alone in a secluded area. The forest is known as The Dark Rainforest as it doesn’t see much light. Legends have it, that many things are against anyone who enters. Everyone knows a rainforest has many creatures, plants, frogs, black panthers, anaconda snakes, tigers, jaguars, ants, spiders, flies, butterflies and much more. When walking by Moe sees the way into the rainforest. He stands there for a minute debating if he wants to go into it or not. Moe decides to go explore the unknown. The temperature is cold at 45 degrees. The air smells like rain as it rains often. You can also smell plants, the smell of trees near the entrance. Curious to know what is in the forest, Moe gets himself motivated to explore it. This way they can finally know whats in the dark forest. Moe has a curious mind of what is surrounding him. Thinking there is only one way to find out.
As Moe enters The Dark Forest, he immediately starts looking around on the ground, in the trees, and across the way in each direction. First,he notices how cold and humid the rainforest is as he stands in place to absorb what he walked into. He can feel the moisture on this skin from the mist left behind in the forest. The ground is wet, mixed with dirt and small rocks. It is still morning when Moe entered his exploration of the forest. Secondly, Moe begins to realize many noises coming from a distance and close by. Things he hears and can tell what they are include; insects, snakes, monkeys, tigers, jaguars, ant holes on the ground nearby, some giant spiders to the left of him, flies flying around him, and to the right a few butterflies flying around some plants. There are many rocks of all shapes and sizes randomly scattered throughout in the distance that Moe can see. The trees are tall with many branches and leaves, while the plants are all shapes and sizes with many different ones surrounding the forest.
Soon after Moe starts to walk again and gets deeper into The Dark Rainforest, he encounters an obstacle in front of him just a few more steps away. Many anaconda snakes are on the ground, around some trees, and plants. The snakes making a hissing noise as the move around slithering through the trees or staying in place. Some of which are hanging from the trees on both sides blocking the path ahead. Moe can hear some rattling as well from a few of them, slightly frightening to him. Thinking for a minute unsure of how to get around them. The monkeys looking scared for Moe who is up against many snakes, coming out of no where, come swinging in the trees scaring the snakes away. They scatter in many directions, most of them going to the left or right clearing the main path. He then continues on his journey. Keeping an eye out for more snakes in the trees and on the ground, not seeing any that look threatening anymore. There seems to be moisture from the trees, creating an odd smell mixed with the trees,and plants.
Moe is beginning to think nothing else will appear in his way as he is quite away into the forest. He sees the monkeys who helped scare the snakes, tries to communicate with them to thank them for their help. A few of them decide to join him in his journey of exploring. Shortly after they walk away from many other monkeys that own the forest deep down inside, another situation comes up. Moe and his monkey friends come across a jaguar staring him down. Thinking his next meal has arrived, the jaguar inches closer to Moe. His assumed monkey friends begin to make noise calling other monkeys to help. Many respond and appear from behind in a hurry. The jaguar sees he is out numbered by them and decides to walk away to look for other means of food. Once again saved by the forest monkeys, Moe is on his way to continue exploring. As they move forward, they notice that a gorilla is wondering around on its own, no others in sight, the jaguar is watching him for a minute. The monkeys get the idea that the gorilla became the next target. They go over to the gorilla and the jaguar unhappily moves on, once again to find its next meal.
Seeing many insects, flies, and mosquito's all around the plants, trees and on the ground. Making sure none of them bother him he keeps walking avoiding another unwanted encounter. Not much further is a ton of ant holes in the ground near many plants. Moe stops and looks at a distance. He sees many ants, some are trying to make their way to him. Already feel like there are ants on him even though they are not, it feels like many are on his skin making it feel weird. As Moe starts to run a little in efforts to avoid ants crawling on him, the moneys take some branches with leaves on them and move them around on the ground. The ants scatter and clear the path, as the monkeys catch up to Moe he is soaking up the views just a head is a huge lake. Surprisingly there is a wide bridge to cross over the lake. Once on the other side a new obstacle is now in the way. A huge spider web home to many giant spiders of The Dark Rainforest block the path. Moe looks around for a way to get around them. He sees another way that looks like a path to his right. Moe starts down the path he found, doesn’t see much down it. The monkeys follow near by. After going down the a ways he can see from a far distance an unknown object. Curious to see what it is, he keeps walking towards it and gets behind a tree to try and figure it out without being seen. He can see its moving around what looks like its living area of the forest. Moe sees a giant monster looking creature, big, tall, blue eyes, and is very hairy. He tries to get a closer look, but steps on some small branches and dry crunchy like leafs making a noise. The monster hears it looks up, sees Moe and starts chasing him through the forest. It is making growling noises and is breathing heavy as it runs, because its size. Moe can smell it scent in the air, he notices is from the monster. It smells odd and he cant seem to think of what it is, he is smelling. Perhaps it is a body order smell, maybe the monster doesn’t have a sense to take a bath in water near by his living area. Before he realizes the moneys are coming to help, Moe things he has to fight off the monster himself. He looks around to see what kind of objects he can use, or if there is a spot to hid near by where he can’t be seen. Seeing a big thick branch, Moe leans over to grab it and is seeing the giant monster close by. Armed and ready to strike it. The monkeys are calling for back up being very loud so the others can hear them. They make a plan to try and help Moe out. Moe is running through ideas to escape in his mind as he is on the run. As he is running to get back to the entrance where he came in at, the jaguar shows up again this time with another one. Moe facing two obstacles now, so he thinks. The monkeys are racing up from behind seeing the obstacles ahead that he is facing. Surprising the jaguars aren’t there to harm Moe this time, they end up helping him along side the monkeys. They all surround the giant monster. He tries to fight them off but there is to many of them. The monster decides to run back toward his own living area. Finally feeling safe near the end of the forest, Moe looks with a surprised looked on this face and a sign of relief. Moe is wondering what is a monster doing in the rain forest? Does it just live here or does it serve a purpose? He tries to remember what its area in the forest looks like. Maybe it helps protect what is sees as an outsider, not knowing if it is a bad thing or not. Seeing unknown movement as a threat.
Its still noisy as the forest is never quiet. Suddenly, from behind the monkeys and Moe a storm of butterflies fly over them in a big group. Dropping him to the ground as the pass over. Feeling a bit of cold air as they create a bit of a breeze flying over him. After they are gone, he stands back up and brushes himself off. Looks at the his monkey friends who have been there to help him through many of his obstacles while exploring. Thanking them for their help, they acknowledge him. Moe looks at his watch and realizes its going to be getting late soon. He ends up leaving The Dark Rainforest. Still seeing many of the things he has encountered. Reaching the end of his journey. The monkeys don’t leave the forest, making noise as their way of saying good-bye.
Moe returns home to his family. Mary his wife and their two kids. They ask where have you been. Moe starts to tell them that he decided to explore The Dark Rainforest. He tells them of all the problems he came across and that he was rescued and saved by monkeys from the snakes, jaguar, spiders, ants, and a giant monster. They seem amazed at what kind of day he has had. They then return to their everyday normal activities. Moe will go on to tell many people he comes into contact with what the forest near by is about and what waits deep down in it.
