"Ouch, it hurts," she screamed, feigning injury. "I think I need a doctor." The businessman quickly gave her some cash. However, Clarissa was not satisfied. "How can this be enough? I need to go to the hospital to do an X-ray," she said. She even called out to passersby, falsely accusing the businessman of trying to shirk responsibility after hitting her with his car. Not wanting trouble, the businessman wrote her a cheque of $1 million. Clarissa smiled to herself as she saw the 7-figure amount on the cheque. "Easy money," she thought to herself as she walked away.
A few days later, Clarissa was at it again. She spotted a young woman, who was distraught for having lost her father. "Just what I need," Clarissa mused, an evil smile crossing her face as the lady got into her car. While the lady was on the wheel, Clarissa walked towards the car to intercept it. The lady managed to step on the brakes in time and narrowly avoided hitting her. When the lady got down to check on her car, Clarissa quickly put her hands on her neck and claimed she was knocked down and was unable to move her neck. She then took out her mobile phone to call the cops. Thinking that it was her fault due to her emotional distress, the lady wrote Clarissa a $2 million cheque. Once again, Clarissa got away with her scam. "Some people are just so gullible," she mused.
Another few days later, Clarissa decided to try her luck again, emboldened by 2 successful attempts. She chanced upon a wealthy man driving out his Porsche. "This time, I'll definitely be a millionaire," she thought to herself. When the wealthy man was on the road, she used the same trick, pretending to have been knocked down and demanded compensation once again. However, she did not expect what would happen next.
"Oh, really?" the wealthy man challenged her. "I have the proof that you are trying to scam me." He then pointed to the in-car camera and continued, "Let's go to the police station to settle this matter." Realizing that her plan had failed, Clarissa panicked. She dashed across the road to get away from the scene. She was too preoccupied with getting away that she did not notice an oncoming car. Before she knew it, she felt a sharp pain on her body and blacked out.
Clarissa was in a dream and there, she heard a voice say, "You'll never walk again."
"Please give me a second chance," Clarissa pleaded.
"Then return all the money you've scammed," the voice said.
"There's no way I'll do that," Clarissa replied. "I need the money. I can't be poor again. And besides, if I return the money, I'll be admitting that I'm scamming the victims."
"As you wish." The voice disappeared, and Clarissa woke up in the hospital. The doctor said in a grim voice, "Unfortunately, you'll never be able to walk again." She looked up and cried in tears, "I thought you gave me a second chance." The voice then replied, "You don't deserve a second chance, considering that you were not remorseful for what you've done." Just then, a few police officers appeared in the ward. "Clarissa Cheng Ho-yee, you're under arrest for cheating." Hearing this, Clarissa felt all hope was lost. She had gotten rich at the expense of others, and now she was left to reap the consequences.
