In a cozy little pencil box, deep inside a classroom, lived a bunch of colorful pencils. Among them was a brave little yellow pencil named Pippin. Pippin wasn’t just any ordinary pencil—he could talk!
One bright morning, as the teacher handed out supplies, a tiny, chubby-handed child named Timmy reached into the box. His fingers wiggled around and grabbed a brand-new red pencil named Ruby.
Ruby had never been used before, and she was so excited to help Timmy draw pictures. But then—SNAP! Timmy’s grip was too strong, and his fingers squeezed her tightly. She let out a tiny squeak.
“Oh no!” gasped Pippin. He knew what happened to pencils in Timmy’s hands. They were chewed, snapped, or scribbled down to tiny stubs in just one day!
Pippin had to act fast. He wobbled forward and rolled off the desk, landing right in front of Timmy’s chubby fingers.
“Hey, Timmy!” Pippin called out. “Wouldn’t you rather use me instead?”
Timmy’s eyes widened. “A talking pencil?”
“That’s right!” Pippin said, wiggling a little. “I’m the best pencil for the job! I draw the best squiggly lines, the funniest doodles, and I last way longer than any other pencil!”
Timmy giggled and let go of Ruby, who sighed in relief and rolled safely back into the pencil box. Instead, Timmy picked up Pippin and started drawing a happy sun on his paper.
Pippin winked at Ruby. “Safe and sound!”
From that day on, Ruby and the other pencils knew they could always count on Pippin—the bravest little pencil in the box!
