As we sat down, the beautiful middle-aged woman greeted us warmly. However, my attention was immediately drawn to the familiar face seated next to her. It was the man I had an accidental run-in with. He looked just as shocked as I felt. I could see the recognition in his eyes, and I knew he was trying to place where he had seen me before.
My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to maintain my composure. I was hoping that the meeting would proceed without any mention of our previous encounter. I shot a quick glance at my parents, but they seemed oblivious to the situation.
The man, however, couldn't contain his curiosity. He leaned over to his mother and whispered something in her ear. She looked at me, then turned to my parents, a question in her eyes. My father, always the composed one, returned her look and nodded.
The woman stood up, a smile lighting up her face. She extended her hand towards my parents. 'I believe introductions are in order,' she said. 'I'm Alison, and this is my son, Alex.'
Alex stood up and extended his hand towards me. 'Nice to meet you,' he said, a hint of amusement in his eyes. I took his hand, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks. 'Nice to meet you too,' I managed to say, trying to sound casual.
And so, our teen bride story began. Over the course of the meeting, Alex and I exchanged shy smiles, each of us trying to come to terms with the strange turn of events. Little did we know, our chance encounter was the beginning of a story we would tell our grandchildren one day.
