PROLOGUE
A man named AHIGA lives in his cabin in the forest. He closes his eyes and meditates by a river. He opens his eyes and suddenly three people stand before him.
“Hello mother, Father, and Grandmother.” Ahiga spoke.
“Hello my son…” his mother smiled.
“I hope you are well son.” His dad smiled.
“Yes, I am doing well… how am I able to see you? All three of you died in a car accident? Not that I am not happy to see because I am?”
“It is your gift child.” His grandmother spoke.
“What gift?”
“The gift of spirit walking.”
“Spirit walking? What is that?”
“You’ll know in due time my child but know that it will become an important gift to give others peace of mind.” His grandmother spoke.
He looks at her in shock then opens his eyes again and his family vanishes. He looks around and sees them nowhere.
The year is 1985 In the small town of Banner Elk, NC, in the family home of the Clinton’s, A teen girl named ANNA comes walking into her family home and heads up stairs. Places her book bag on her bed when suddenly a masked man grabs her from the back and slams her on the bed. She screams in fear as the mask person proceeds to abuse her.
(25 years later)
In the small town of Banner Elk, NC The TURNER Family comes pulling into the driveway of a two story house with their nine year old daughter. They exit the car.
“What do you think LINDA? Nice huh?” The husband asked.
“Yes it’s lovely JAMES… what do you think AMY?” Linda asked.
Amy looks at the house, shocked at the sheer size. She looks up at a window and sees a little girl in the window looking down on her. The little girl is wearing a white nightgown with long black hair and pale skin. Amy blinks and the girl is gone. She thinks nothing of it and goes heading in and upstairs. The first room she walks into, she walks to the window and spots the view. Noticing that the room she is in was the same room she saw the little girl in.
Suddenly James comes walking in with suitcases, catching Amy off guard. She jumps in fear.
“Do you like this room sweetie?”
“Oh yes… I do…”
“That’s good, It’s yours. Welcome to your new room.” James smiles as he leaves the room, leaving Amy. She looks around setting up her stuff.
Suddenly, there is a knock on their door. Amy hurries downstairs as her mom opens the door. An old man greets them.
“Hello. I’m TOMMY SMITH, I live next door. I just wanted to come and welcome you to the neighborhood.”
Amy looks in wonder and she suddenly hears a voice as a faint Echo.
“Careful…”
“Oh that is nice of you. Thank you Tommy.” Linda smiled.
“Yeah we appreciate it.” James said.
Amy looks around in confusion and hears the voice repeat. Then Tommy looks up at Amy and gives her long look.
“Anyway, I hope your stay in this neighborhood is a pleasant one.” Tommy spoke as he gives Amy one more look. Amy grins at him.
“Well he seems nice.” Linda spoke.
“Yeah, I suppose so. Amy what did you think?”
“She shrugs and heads back up to her room and lays in her bed.
(Nightfall)
Linda, Amy and James sit downstairs and watch TV. They hear footsteps. Linda pauses the TV.
“Did you guys hear that?”
“Hear what?” James asked?
“Footsteps.. On the steps…”
They listen quietly and hear creaking on the steps as if someone is going up.
“Hello!” Linda shouts but she gets no response. She unpauses the TV and shakes it off. Then they hear a door shut upstairs. James hears it this time and hurries to the steps. He looks up and spots a full body shadow of someone looking down at him and then calmly disappears into the darkness of the top steps.
“Linda, call the police, I think we have an intruder upstairs…” James whispers. Linda pulls out her phone.
(10 minutes later)
The police arrive and James heads out to greet them. Amy looks in the direction of Tommy’s house and watches as he observes.
“Glad you guys are here. I saw someone upstairs walking. It looked like an intruder.”
“Ok, we will check the premises.” an officer replied.
“Thank you.”
The police search the premises but find nothing. They meet back up with the family.
“Well we couldn’t find anything but are you familiar with the house's history?”
“No, I’m afraid not.” James replied.
“Twenty five years ago, a little girl went missing. The family could never find her or her kidnapper. They looked for ten years and waited but never knew what had happened to her. Whoever kidnapped her, they cleaned up quickly. Now I am not saying its a ghost, but I would not exclude it out. Every family that has moved into this house has reported paranormal activity of sorts.”
The family look at one another in shock.
“So, we should call a paranormal group is what your saying? Haha that’s ridiculous.” James laughed.
“ I don’t know what else to tell you. Here is a card of a group we’ve dealt with before with this house. Anyway best of luck to you.” The officer finished and they leave the scene.
“The family look at one another in confusion and go heading in.
“You’ll sleep down here tonight, Amy, and I’ll stay down here with you.” James spoke.
“Yeah, I’ll stay down here tonight and we can give this group a call tomorrow.”
“Are you seriously considering this Linda?”
“Yeah, we just moved here, can’t afford to move…”
“Fine… Call them tomorrow.”
(Middle of the night)
Amy wakes up on the couch with her mom and dad laying beside her. She stretches and looks into the hall of the house and spots the girl again as she glows like a light with long black hair, a night gown and pale face. She watches her as she walks up the stairs slowly. She looks back at Amy as if to tell her to follow her. Amy; in her curiosity and against her better judgement - follows the girl up the stairs. The girl walks into Amy’s room and Amy follows. She spots the girl looking at the house.
“You… you’re the girl who went missing twenty five years ago?” Amy asked? The little girl nods in agreement. “What’s your name?” Amy asked.
“I’m ANNA…” The little girl looks at the floor in sadness and then vanishes leaving Amy wondering. Then her mom comes walking in.
“Amy, sweetie what are you doing up here… come on back down.” They leave the room and head back down. Amy looks back in wonder.
(Next Day)
Linda sits on the phone and talking with the Paranormal group.
“Yes, we were recommended to call you. We’ve had a… stranger in our house with what we thought was an intruder, but the police say you’ve dealt with this house.”
“What’s your address?” A woman asked. (on phone)
“Fourteen twelve, Crossroads Drive.”
“Oh… yes… we know that address well… we will gladly come and see what we can do.”
“Wait you mean, you already know?”
“...yes…”
Linda just looks in shock as she admits she knows what’s going on. “So when can you come down?”
“When would you like us to come by?”
Tonight if possible? I want to be done with this.”
“Sure, I’ll check with my crew and see what they say.”
“Thank you.”
Outside of their house, Ahiga comes walking up and looks at the house and feels a connection to it. He looks in wonder as he spots the little girl on the top floor looking at him with a blank stare.
Back inside, Linda continues to talk on the phone.
“Ok, so my crew has agreed to come by tonight. So we will see you then.”
“Thank you…” Linda replies and she hangs up.
“She said they will be here tonight and check it out.” Linda spoke to James.
“Wow they do move fast…” James thought.
“That’s good, we can get this craziness over.”
“What if it isn’t crazy?”
James just looks at her in silence.
(Nightfall)
The crew begin to show up with their equipment. Linda hurries out to greet them.
“Hello, thank you for coming so quickly… come in.”
“Thank you Mrs. Turner. Ok Guys get the equipment ready set. I’m LISA CREEKS. I am the founder of the Banner Elk Paranormal Research Society or B.E.P.R.S. I can tell you what it is. It’s the spirit of a little girl you seen.”
“Right, and I’m Santa Claus.” James chuckled.
“It’s ok to be a non-believer… we deal with a lot of them.” Lisa chuckled.
(Later the same night)
The BEPRS have their equipment set up and perform a seance.
“If there is any spirits here with us. Please make a sound and let us know you’re here.” Lisa called out. They all sit in silence for a few seconds then they hear footsteps on the stairs. They look around. James looks in shock as they place a ghost box on the table.
“What’s that thing?” James asked.
“It’s called a ghost box, it allows spirits to communicate with us through radio station frequencies.” Lisa explained as she continues to call out. “What’s your name?”
They sit in silence then hear Amy speak.
“Her name is Anna.”
“Is your name Anna?”
They sit in silence then hear a voice.
“Yes…”
“Anna was the name of the girl who went missing twenty years ago. How did you know her name?” Lisa asked.
“She told me…”
“Wait she spoke to you sweetie?” Linda asked.
“Yeah…”
“Ok, I’m going to go get the infrared camera I’ll be right back.” a crew member says as he walks to the door and opens it to find Ahiga standing as if he was about to knock.
“Um, Hi. I’m Ahiga… are the homeowners here?”
“Um, yeah hold on.” the crew member spoke as he walks back into their living room.
“Mr. and Mrs. Turner. There is a guy at the door wanting to speak with you.”
They look at one another in confusion and get up to go meet Ahiga.
“Yes?”
“You are the homeowners?”
“Yes we are, Mr. and Mrs. Turner.”
“Well first I want to welcome you to the neighborhood.”
“Oh thank you very much Mr?”
“I’m Ahiga, I live by the lake in the forest.”
“Oh ok… what else can we do for you?”
“I noticed you guys are doing a séance. To try and communicate with the spirit in your house.”
“Yes…”
“Would you mind if I tried?”
Everyone looks at him in confusion and even some of the crew laugh at him.
“Well…we’re professionals, we’ve been doing paranormal investigations for thirty years.” Lisa explained.
“What I can do is hard to explain… and I know we just met but I want you to be able to trust me…”
Everyone looks confused. Linda looks at him in wonder. “Alright… do what you can.”
“Thank you Mrs. Turner.” Ahiga spoke as he walks into the house.
“Are you sure about this hon?” James asked.
“I don’t know why… but I feel we can trust him.”
Ahiga takes his jacket off and sits down in the center of the living room. “If I may ask. If you wouldn’t mind remaining quiet and still. That would be very helpful.”
“May I ask what are you doing?” Lisa asked.
“I have… an ability… that allows me to communicate with spirits.”
“Like a psychic?” Linda wondered.
Ahiga nods in agreement. “I guess you could say that. Just keep your EVP running. I am going to begin.”
He sits in the lotus position, closes his eyes. Two seconds later, his surroundings change and he opens his eyes and finds Anna standing there. Ahiga looks in wonder.
“Hello… who are you?”
“My name is Anna.”
In the physical world, the EVP picks up the exchange of words between Ahiga and Anna. Everyone looks in shock.
“Wait, he is physically communicating with the spirit in his meditative state.” Lisa mention.
“Meaning?” James asked.
“He knows how to leave his physical body willingly. In other words, his spirit is in the spirit world, and his physical body is here in the physical world.”
“Is that even possible!” James wondered in awe.
“With years and years of practice… yes… and he has mastered it…”
Everyone looks at her in shocking awe.
Back into the spirit world, Anna and Ahiga continue communication.
“What happened to you?”
“I went missing twenty five years ago.”
“Do you know who kidnapped you and killed you?”
Anna nods, turns to the steps and proceeds up the stairs. Ahiga follows.
In the physical world, the family and crew hear the footsteps heading up the stairs.
Anna leads him to the window in Amy’s room. She points to Tommy’s house. “His name is Tommy. He raped me, then killed me.” Anna spoke with a ghostly voice.
“Where is your body?” Ahiga asked.
“It is buried in his basement under the concrete.” Anna spoke.
Suddenly Ahiga comes out of his meditation.
He stands up in shock.
“What did she say?” Lisa asked.
“She said she was raped and killed, that some man named Tommy done it and he buried her under the concrete in his basement.” Ahiga explained.
“What! Really…” Linda wondered.
“Does the name sound familiar?” Ahiga asked.
“Yes, he is the neighbor who came by and introduced himself. Doesn’t seem like the type.” Linda spoke.
“That’s the thing. The bad ones never do.” Lisa replied.
“What you take from this, is for you to decide. But I know he needs to be brought to justice so Anna’s spirit can rest.” Ahiga spoke as he leaves the house, leaving everyone baffled.
The next day, the Turner family is up eating breakfast when a knock is heard at their door. James gets up and goes to answer the door. He finds a elderly woman and man at the door.
“Oh, hello, my name KIM CLINTON, this is my husband WILLIAM CLINTON but he goes by Will. We received a call from someone here telling us to come by and reopen the case for our daughter..”
“A call from here… that’s impossible?”
Anna looks at her parents from the stairs and smiles.
Later the same day, Kim and William are at the police department.
“Excuse me, we would like to reopen the investigation of our daughter Anna.” Kim spoke.
“Is this the case from twenty five years ago?” an officer replied.
“Yes…” Kim replied.
The officer types on his computer to bring up the file.
“It says here that matter was an open and shut matter. Run away.” the officer replied.
“Still, we would like to open the case back up. We believe she was murdered and we would like you to get a warrant to search the property of Tommy Smith.” Kim spoke.
“Under what new evidence?” the officer asked.
Back at the Turner residence the officer sit with Ahiga and the paranormal team.”
“This seems a little unorthodoxly crazy.” an officer said.
“Just watch.” Lisa spoke.
Ahiga sits down in a lotus position and closes his eyes. The paranormal crew put up an EVP and camera. On the camera, it shows just shadowy figures. Ahiga is in his spiritual state and speaks with Anna.
(ON EVP)
“Hello again Anna, I need your help. I need you to say who killed you.”
“It was Tommy Smith. The next door neighbor.”
“And where is your body?”
“Under the concrete in his basement.”
“Thank you Anna. I hope now, when he is brought to justice you can rest easy.”
Suddenly Ahiga comes out of his meditative state.
“How did you do that?” An officer asked
“It was just something I was born with. I hope it is enough to give Mr and Mrs. Clinton and Anna closer.” Ahiga spoke as he leaves the house.
“Here is this video, and the EVP for your proof.”
The officer looks in shock.
The next day the police are at Tommy’s door. He opens it.
“Hello officers, what can I do for you?” Tommy smiled.
“We have a warrant to do a thorough search of your home.” an officer spoke.
“But I don’t understand…”
“Remember gentlemen it is in his basement.”
Tommy looks in concerned silence as the officers head downstairs and find a bulge in the concrete.
“Dig it up.” an officer spoke as construction workers come in with jackhammers and open the concrete floor to find bones covered in bits and pieces of a dress.
“Oh my god…” an officer replied.
“Tommy Smith you are under arrest for murder and rape in the first degree of Anna Clinton, anything you say can and will be used against you in to court of law.” an officer read as he puts cuffs on Tommy.
Back outside the officer who was with them during the session speaks to the families, crew and Ahiga.
“Well, we found her body. It’s deteriorated but we can get DNA off her clothes and bones to verify if it is her. Tommy will be going away for a very long time. Luckily the judge is a huge believer in the paranormal haha...” the officer spoke as he walks away.
Amy looks up at the window to spot Anna watching.
“Oh my god… my baby girl…” Kim spoke with tears.
Ahiga looks at them. “There is only one more thing to do.”
“What’s that? You’ve done more than enough…” Kim said as she hugs Ahiga.
“Come… I will show you.”
They all go heading back into the home.
Ahiga sits back down on the floor in the lotus position and appears in the spirit world.
“This is TAMMY she is a physic medium who will be assisting us. What this is called is a crossover. We are going to help Anna’s spirit crossover to the other side.”
“Will we be able to see her?” Will asked.
“If Anna wills it so. Yes.” Tammy spoke and she begins the ceremony.
“Hello Anna, Tommy Smith has been brought to justice, you’re no longer bound to this world. Your parents wish to see you one last time. If you will it.” Ahiga spoke.
Anna nods with a smile. “Thank you…”
Ahiga smiles back at her and then exits his meditative state.
Tammy finishes the ritual and a portal along with Anna appear.
“Oh my god… my baby girl…” Kim cried.
“Hello mom and dad… I just want you to know I love you…”
“And we love you…” William cried.
She hugs them both tightly, looks at Ahiga and thanks him one more time. Then she enters the portal and her spirit disappears within.
Kim approaches Ahiga and hugs him.
“Thank you… Thank you so much…”
“Thank you Ahiga.” Will spoke as he shakes Ahiga’s hand. Everyone leaves the home.
Ahiga steps outside to find his parents and his grandmother standing in front of him with big smiles. He smiles back and heads down the road.
everyone watches as Ahiga vanishes into the evening fog.
